So Kazuhiro generalizing must ring true if there one cat proving it right?
come on son.

lol
SFIV built it’s success on brand nostalgia for casuals. You know, the people who flooded this forum with stupidity in 09. How many of the people who bought SFIV even knew there was an SF3?
Besides, don’t you think a number of those you think are “SF fans” are actually “FG fans” that will buy most fighting games of decent quality? I sure would place myself in that category.
That’s not a very uncommon opinion, and I wouldn’t say it’s linked to liking MK…
as far as i know the majority of sf fans arent open minded to trye other games outside capcom games, and even then many of them wouldnt stick to them if the game is to damn apart from the sf formula, specially the new trend of sf4 fans
this 10 billions of times, sf4 has done nothing for the fighting game genre
it didnt revive nothing more than the interest of people on sf games
the amount of fighting games out on the market right now is equal to the number of fg released on the past previous of your mighty messiah sf4
all the kofs, the revisions of GG, HNK, the rumble fish 1 & 2, battle fantasia, sengoku basara x, the ah series, the melty blood series, many doujin games were also released, plus 3d fighters like tekken, the 3d kofs, the sc series, the doa series, and the fighting games for many anime series like the naruto and dbz games to name some
instead of sucking the dick of sf and ono, make a little research and see how many fg has been released and produced way befor sf4 was even considered, and more than sure would be still produced if sf4 never existed
those stupid post sf4 members
Instead of Marvel, they should have made a dark stalkers game. I feel that the 1v1 format is more lucrative and casual friendly that the 3v3 tag games…
Why is this surprising? Capcom sales were down slightly at the end of 2000. Ports of MvC2, 3s, CvS2 and even EX3 didn’t break 500,000 (infact EX3 sold more than most of those other titles). The last SF fighter port to actually break 500,000 before that was Alpha 3 on the PSX.
MK series dispite the flack that it gets around here normally sells pretty well. Breaking 1,000,000 with ease with each new game. As much as some SF fans like to say that MK sucks and has no depth, its normally been a pretty good selling casual game. To see that it breaks SF4 and MvC3 sales isn’t all that unexpected.
hecatom on his on endless anti-sf4 crusade, nothing new here.
what part of his statement in the last post is incorrect though?
I wonder if that meant there will more gory fighting games?
The part where he says SF4 did nothing for the genre.
When MK vs SF happens.
That’s interesting…I always thought MK9 wouldn’t sell that much…I guess ppl like ‘M’ rated games and gore.
Congratz to them!
case in point, sf4 dick riders that have been only around sf4 and believe that its the messiah and deepest game on all history
I am genuinely surprised if it outsold MVC3, I was expecting MVC3 to smash MK in sales thanks to the Marvel license (especially with Thor/Cap movies coming this year) and the strong build up Capcom made for the title.
Not getting into which is the better game, I guessing a lot of casual fans were thrown off of Marvel because they found it too complicated. I thought Marvel was about as simple as you could make a fighting game, but the number one comment I hear about it is ‘There’s too much going on’ and that it’s too fast and overwhelming. By comparison MK probably is probably more accessible and it still has the flashy fatalitlies and X-ray moves etc.
In any event, being an Australian my time with the game has been pretty short-lived so I can’t really comment on it too much.
Probably not a serious post, but just in case:
Pretty sure most hardcore SF fans are just hardcore SF fans. There’s very few people who are just “fighting game fans”. Just people who like their couple games and sometimes put a lot of effort into hating everything else.
Actually I don’t think there’s very many “SF fans” either, at least within the FGC. Each of the versions tends to have its own fanbase… and even there there’s like, three or four different groups of SF2 fans who bash the shit out of each other.
Good point…well it would be if any of that you just said were true and I hadn’t been a member of this forum for 6 years and playing most every fighting game since 1991…
Get a clue dude…
please find a post that have me saying anything along those lines and i’ll quit the genre. you need to stop the hate man, just embrace what sf4 did for the genre.
SF4 rewards players for turtling and by making come backs with ultras. Both things I hate and cant stand in SF4 and SSF4
Vs fighting games are sold on using a team of marvel and capcom characters. Also look at what is hot right now comics. Mix nostalgia for past capcom and marvel games and you have a seller
fuck spidey, wolvie, and iron man made sure it broke 900k sold
im sure Dark Stalkers would sell well if it look liked SF4. People are suckers for flashy fighting games
Just imagine the size of Sasquatch’s feet!
