There’s not much to say about Mortal Kombat still being around that they haven’t said with every game after UMK3.
Hardcore MK fans thinks SF is trash.
Hardcore SF fans are fighting games enthusiasts and will buy any fighting games out there.
I’m a fighting game enthusiast. I’ve got no reason to buy any of the PS2 mortal kombats other than to make people suffer.
I didn’t think it would’ve done that well, but good for them.
Hardcore Marvel vs Capcom fans are just plain suckers.
so Hardcore MK fans aren’t actual fighting game fans?
Heard it before. The same argument is used when it comes to smash.
MK, SC, Tekken, and Dead or Alive sold just as much now as they did way before SF4.
SF4 opened nothing. I know it’s popular SRK spin that SF and Capcom has led a “fighting game renaissance” but truth is FGs are just as profitable now as they were 10 years ago when Capcom stopped making new FGs. Capcom and SF are not the center of everyone’s universe.
How much fighters were produced before sf iv and especially so many like nowdays? Right almost none existed and especially for mainstream players. Capcom haters at its best.
They might be, I don’t know. All I know is that most hardcore MK fans that I know of thinks Street Fighter is a super ass games while SF fans won’t mind trying and buying a MK game (or any other fighting game as soon as it’s not an anime game with an all girl cast). This is why I think it did better in term of sales.
MK9 = SF fans + MK fans buys it
SFIV = SF fans only
Or its sale cycle is just different. There’s loads of reasons a game might sell slower than another, and it really doesn’t mean anything.
I like ST and 3S. It’s really hard for me to say this, but, I honestly hate SF4/SSF4. 3S and UMK3 are for sure my games though. I believe that MK9 is honestly better than Both SF4/SSF4 and MvC3. Except if you have a PS3 that is, lol.
Your an idiot, x2.
it’s true that sf4 outsold calibur 4, which sold 2.3 million copies as of 2 years ago, but it’s hard to compare because the games came out so far apart. I think that sc5 will probably also sell over 2 million copies (which sc4 managed to sell in about one month’s time) but it would be nice to see it reach 3 million. But it may be difficult considering the number of options available these days as far as FGs on current generation systems.
no no its x4.
Who cares what came first. I care about what I like better. The gobots came before the transformers and I bet you won’t here the argument oh hey the gobots totally opened the door for transformers.
Make all the excuses you want but the new mk is awesome whereas street fighter I quickly lose interest.
It’s entirely subjective but they put a lot more effort into their backstory in the games than say street fighter. Mk has always put a lot of thought into the backstory with major deaths/etc. shifts in power whereas street fighter just seems like oh here’s another tournament.
quanchi is proving Kazuhiro right though
I dunno how things are in Montreal, but the vast majority of SF fans I know will at best show interest in other Capcom games and not much else. It’s pretty shocking to me that MK has been given a serious shot on SRK/Evo.
And honestly someone who buys “any fighting game out there” sounds like an incredible doofus.
You guys know that mortal kombat deadly alliance sold 2 million copies within like 6 months right? I’m not sure about totals either because they rereleased it as a greatest hits and also in a 3 pack with the other two last generation mk games.
I think MK9 is on track to at least come close to that but who knows? Again, it’s hard to compare because that was years ago when it came out.
It really depends on the persons, I guess. Most of the guys in the Montreal community grew up with SF and they were really open to MK9. In fact, they are still playing and finding the game really good. I know other dudes that grew up with MK and most of them don’t even bother with SF games because they think it’s garbage compare to MK.
Alright, let me rephrase that, then. What I meant to say is that SF fans are more open to other fighting games and are willing to try them out (this includes MK).
Of course, hardcore MK fans are gonna take what I say personally even though I’m clearly generalizing. I’m aware that some MK heads likes SF and that some SF fans are stuck up with the idea that SF is the best fighting game of all time.
Thank you for realizing.
