How do you determine how much a game deserves to sell?
soul calibur 4 was the biggest game at seasons beatings a few years ago, it had over 100 ppl. and that’s at an event that is traditionally a 2d tournament.
3 probably had the best single player of them all.

I am not a big MK fan but…boy am I liking the new one?! I like that actual care went to make the game with a good story mode, gameplay modes, unclockables, desinng, etc. Not to mention how much fun I’ve found it to be, I also like that a game like this is selling well and hopefully this sends a message to the likes of Ono and Harada, specially the former bacause after all Tekken games usually have story mode, other gameplay modes and unlockables; I mean, the fact that they are releasing fighting games doesnt mean its all about the meta game or for tourney practice and shit, is still $60 a game so a complete experience is appreciated cough, MVC3. cough
SC is very popular actually, it has a good amount of followers around the world, i wouldnt be surprised if do as well as mk considering that its a game well liked by the cassuals to

And the UFC/MMA games both sold more than any traditional fighting game. Who cares?
Actually UFC Undisputed 2010 and EA MMA underperformed in sales.
This is justified as to me anyways it’s got a much better backdrop story whereas Street fighter doesn’t. Always liked the characters more along with the gore. I always grew bored with street fighter. Kudos to mk andn the team they deserve it.
I laugh at anyone who thinks MK’s sales directly correlate to its quality. MK could’ve been HORRIBLE and sold nearly as well.
Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 were horrible, and I think they were about the most popular fighting games ever, in the US. This isn’t really surprising.
SoulCalibur has a very loyal international representation.

And I like the insane logic here. SC4 sold less than SF4 which was beaten so far by MK, so somehow SC5 will outsell them both?

Also, SC3’s story mode doesn’t compare to MK’s. SC tries, and compared to most fighters is a good attempt, but compared to MK it’s a joke.
And no, the last UFC and MMA games didn’t sell like MK or SF4. Stop dreaming.
It’s not like Mortal Kombat has a story that’s even worth sitting through though, and story mode isn’t the only single player experience Soul offers.

Yeah a bird turd with the MK logo would have sold a million. Then lets be thankful that it’s a game people are willing to say is good.
Pretty sure SC sold 2 Millions Copies. Which is quite impressive since it doesn’t even need the Marketing SF4 does. (Even thought SF4 doesn’t need it but they can afford it). I think the only Sc commercial was for SC2…9 yrs ago…
SC has CONSISTENTLY been a 2 Million Seller for all its releases. And it has a huge following, just not the same as all the SF/Tekken games (but they’ve been around 2wice as long). MK, has a following, old and new, so ppl (casuals) will buy it.
Soul Calibur doesn’t have that name, unless you played (fighting) games 99 and after.
How this turned into a SC discussion is beyond me but at any publicity is good publicity.
Who cares how much mk9 sold. SF IV openend the door again for fighters and if they hadnt sold more it would be hillarious.
btw mk 9 had the luck to only have portal 2 as a rival. Where sf iv came in the same month of heavy rain, killzone 2 and other titles.
I like how you say “only” Portal 2, like it’s nothing. If you include Steam sells, Portal 2 likely outsold MK, not that Valve will ever release steam sales for anything.
