3 viper players in top 8 lol. shes so godly. top 8 in sf4 sucks this year though. I mean theres obviously high level play going on but all the characters being played are just bs, non fundamental, gimmicky, fuck-it-im-just-gonna-go-in type characters. I hate now that capcom pushes offense soo much in these games and waters down a potentially good engine just to make it look less boring. Little do they know the games now look a lot more boring
also I cant wait for Street fighter 4: Armeggedon when theres gonna be 84 character slots and only 8 are filled. the characters are gonna be on the game but you have to vote which are gonna be unlocked for a small price of 7.99 a peice.

KOF13 comes with a 5 disc soundtrack of all the music from the series. There is only one track that matters tho ba da da da ba ba ba on repeat all day.
Thing is, AE top 8 has 6 unique characters, willing that Flash Metroid sticks with his main Gief. That’s huge. I won’t argue that Team Hong Kong is stupid, but the version is young. But yeah, Super SF4 was probably the best balanced game I’ve ever played. Not the most fun, mind you, but that’s not the point here. I’ll usually see the argument that Tekken 6 is the most balanced, and I usually counter with, “Why play a character that juggles for 50% when you got one that juggles for 70% off a move with the same exact properties? Why play a character with launch-punishable lows when this other one only has poke-punishable lows and they lead to more damage?” (I think I’m just bitter that Asuka is such a piece of shit.)
MVC3, oddly enough, isn’t that bad right for the Top 8 either with no character being on more than 3 teams, though it happens with 3 different characters (Wesker, Wolverine, and Phoenix). Bunch of 2 spots after that with She-Hulk, Mags, Dante, Taskmaster, and Akuma, and then 1 each of Tron, Sentinel (only one?), Haggar (!!!), Spencer, and Ammy. Wolverine/Akuma appears on two teams, and Wesker/Phoenix is on two teams as well.
Edit - That’s not even me hating on Tekken 6. It’s just me wishing there was more reason to pick characters other than the ones with better frames and juggle damage/carry. Many of the ones with any sort of non-basic tool or gimmick (Marduk, Lei, Hwoarang, Zafina, Yoshi, Raven, Ling) aren’t anything special, and the ones that are, like Eddy, still aren’t THAT great in Tekken’s system. I’d love a game where Marduk is high tier. (Pretty sure Solus and MysticBill would, too. )

Im not talking about the balance really. yes ae is balanced it just sucks that the guessing game and mixup heavy characters are the characters winning tournaments and the fundamental characters as well as defensive characters arent that good anymore. I seriously dont get why characters like dhalsim and guile got nerfed pretty bad while at the same time yun and yang would already be terrible matchups for those two.
the top 8 yun mirror was pretty boring to watch. all it was dive kick dive kick dive kick punish cross over and then dp dp. im not saying there wasnt any reason behind what they were doing it was just plain boring.
I agree with the fundamental characters needing to be strong but AE’s focus on rushdown really made for a great top 8 this year.
I can’t argue with it - although I think given another year like this you’d see even more Fei and Yun dominance. I think they should leave them be and focus on giving other characters means to fight back instead of nerfing anything.

I think justin believed Rog had a better chance at beating viscant b/c of phoenix and justin was struggling with phoenix all tournament so he let rog get to grand finals and probably worked out something with the money ahead of time.
