This sounds exactly like what everyone said for BBB. And then they patched it. And yeah…
good thing nobody else did that!!!11
Well, they’d have to be blind to patch the game and make it more busted than it already is.
…OH WAIT
Hopefully, like I said before, the patches work in the opposite of BBB.
Fair enough. Look, I don’t want to be the one slinging opinions around, because even I know that’s really stupid. >_< This whole argument’s kinda pointless because GoF or any other game I like for that matter has nothing to do with MkV at this point.
Sorry for flying off the handle everyone, it’s not my intention to argue or start arguments.
Anyway, I guess we’re waiting to see if the game will improve as the patches start to come in, but what is actually the worst part of the system? I mean, couldn’t they just fix these loops by adding something like a juggle counter or a gravity system or even better damage scaling? Would that just make the game worse?
Well I’ll do you one better; I think NRF is fundamentally going in the right direction because MKV has mechanics that work better than BBB, so technically they “moved in the right direction” since then.
So, maybe the next patch or so is a step backwards but over time maybe they will somehow fundamentally move forwards after several patches.
Frustrated - I think the loops aren’t the problem, it’s the amount of damage that they do.
Yeah, so that means that if they make the damage scaling stricter or just downpower the attacks in general, they could make the game a little more balanced?
Gee, they have a few options without even needing to add any new stuff. I wonder if they’ll get it right with the next patch.
Single wallslam limit, less moves causing ground bounce. Limit on ground bounce. More command normals. Airthrow. Rest of the hinted characters. Fix strange shit (Tamara hitbox, juggles crossing up randomly, Silvio is strange in silvioinstall too). Yeah that would be a good start imo.
Also get rid of the announcer x_x
if they do all that it might as well just be melty blood
Yeah that’s pretty much what it sounds like.
NO
the announcer stays
auhto
I want to hear that I’m superior.
Better than being inferior
All of these I agree with. Hell, even BBB had a limit of 1 otg in most situations. Also, for the love of god, better hitsparks and effects. Doesn’t need to be IaMP awesome, but c’mon. The backgrounds and effects are garbage. Fucking Monster had better cg effects.
Regarding the combo system, well who knows.
Actually you are limited to 1 OTG per normal combo, it’s just the ground bounces/slams don’t count as OTG’s for whatever reason. But even with an OTG and Slam limit not every character would be effected; like Virginia could still do her entire combo without any OTGs or ground slams if she felt like it. I’m sure it wouldn’t actually be too difficult to find a Nobuko combo that didn’t involve OTG/slams either.
They need to find a way to make it so that combos don’t boil down to doing the same two moves as much as possible in a loop, that’s the key thing. But, I’m not going to bother theorizing how they could do that, as I don’t really care.
As far as aesthetics… I dunno, I don’t really mind the aesthetics in MKV, but I think the intro blood splash looks really tacky. The backgrounds aren’t amazing but at least the music is pretty cool, so I can’t complain. Hell, Monster’s backgrounds weren’t much better at all either, and neither are Akatsuki’s IMO.
Akatsuki is the ugliest fighter out there IMO, the only possible candidate to beat it is Clay Fighter. It’s the only reason that keeps me from playing that game.
but this game is pretty damn close to Akatsuki on being ugly.
Well I think EFZ and WonderfulWorld (wanwan) have the worst graphics I’ve seen.
I like the aesthetics in Akatsuki Blitzkampf, personally. Then again even if it was worse than ClayFighter in terms of aesthetics I’d probably get over it, gameplay is more important than aesthetics when you’re actually playing the game.
Weird though, what’s bad about it? The only thing I think looks really gimpy is falling animations and most forward dashes.
I think Akatsuki looks great too. Original style, and also good technically (shading, frames) for a doujin fighter. But as with all styles that are original / different / odd, there’s bound to be some people that hates it with a passion.
I’d say it’s second only to BBB in graphics among doujin games. And after that I’d put Crazy Power Disc.
What is this?
Some fightermaker game that looks like it was drawn in paint.
