Hasbro said that its going to be a new cast (w/ exception of Optimus Prime) for the bots. Same as for the humans.

Naaaa, I didn’t see this. Basically, it comes down to greed for him. I’ll be honest, I don’t mind greed, if it produces a solid product. However once the innovation dies off and you’re just sharting ideas, it becomes tiring. I will admit, if the movies improve on the design of DOTM (such as make a Cybertronian have an actively leading role), I can get down on this. If it is more of ROTF, then there is very little hope of the franchise changing for the better. With a new cast (both human and Cybertronian), things could be different.

I loved the whole arc in the movie of the young underdog ascending to greatness, and Rodimus himself always looked badass. The season 3 VA was cool too.
Sadly, the seeds for his downfall were sewn long before the pressure of Prime’s death. Since the idiotic writers borked his personality by making him one of those pathetic “eternally stuck in his shadow” types. Which has sadly become an integrated part of the character like any other aspect of the TF mythos, that he may never break free of.
Even bio cards as of late, such as for MP Rodimus, paint his personality out to be an “older Hot Rod” for all intents & purposes. Not a true, mature leader and worthy successor to the matrix like he should be.
He’s still just as brash, reckless, impulsive, and idiotic as before. Just with more “heroic” reasons for doing so. With things like this we’ll likely never see the character get his due outside of the movie.

Whenever I hear someone talk about “Transformers” and “plot,” I turn towards my TV and see Optimus Prime and Megatron trying to shoot each other in the face.
Hell, things explode at random in the cartoon that shouldn’t really explode. The episode where the Stunticons attack a US military base, one of them somehow LIFTS OFF INTO THE AIR, bounces off of a building, and lands onto a gun turret . . . which somehow triggers an explosion even though there was nothing to even ignite said explosion.
Micheal Bay MIGHT make another 2 billion dollars off of parts 4 and 5.

I thought 1 was pretty decent, 2 was pretty crappy, and 3 held my interest as a solid action movie. I’d like to see some of the other factions come in like the dinobots, but just as a cameo and not a fully-fledge plot.

LMFAO I went to lunch came back and read this awesome post. Unreal my friend you remind me of just about all my friends i went to grade school with who use to tell me all the time that Megatron would body Optimus Prime 1 on 1. Mind you i was like the only kid that liked the autobots over the decepticons.
All that talk ended after the 86 movie.
Megatron fans couldn’t even look at me in the face cause i told them one on one Optimus would mop the floor with Megatron as a 6 yr old I even said that The only weakness I see Optimus having is i think he cares about megatron.
Then I’ll never forget that movie trailer hit showing a face off between Prime and Megatron I told everybody ok we’ll see after the movie!!

As Optimus pulled a gun from the heavens like Iron Man Mvc2 special and Neo’d lasers in the fuckin air while solo’n mad decepticons.
I glanced at the other kids around me in the theaters and their jaws on the ground. realizing that everything we would see from this point foward in life was not gonna be as cool as that.
So after Optimus caught Megs with a right cross that knocked Megs gun off his arm, and shin-shoryukens to the mouth follwed by The ultimate warrior slam Prime grabbed the gun and Kup wasn’t the only one yelling Finish him off prime!!
Hot Rod felt it like shit my child hood hero is gonna drop the ball Optimus needs to know to kill that guy…I’ve got to help Prime!!
I knew just like Hot Rod knew that Opt needed to kill megs. Thus is way i understood the foreshadowing at 6 going on 7. Thus i didnt blame hot rod Optimus should have known Megs was trolling.
So it’s ok unreal i understand the love for Megatron he was my 2nd fav decepticon behind Star Scream but just know one on one Prime gave it to Megatron.
Megatron even had the advantage he was just chilling in the cut fresh. Prime had just gun kata’d other decepticons prior.

I beg to differ good sir. Prime was at the worst, his equal.
It is going to be interesting to see who the next big villain will be. Megatron unfortunately is out (he’s died twice). Here are a few names that come to mind
Galvatron
Unicron - He just won’t be a planet
Starscream - Use his "undying spark"
Thunderwing- A Decepticon that can wield the Autobot Matrix
Jhiaxus - An ancient transformer (unlikely due to that attempt in ROTF)
