Michael Bay to direct Transformers 4

So I haven’t really been following the development of 4 aside from know there are new actors… is 4 a sequel or a reboot? What happened to Shia Labuff?

Bumblebee got tired of his shit and ran him over

It’s a “soft” reset LOL. It is a sequel and takes place after Chicago (DOTM). Basically, they want to reinvigorate the franchise, so they got rid of Dr. No and crew and start over with a new set of robots along with redesigns of other heroes.

Yep, that’s him.

In the comics thought, aren’t the decepticons, while not slaves still dealing with some kind of racial issues with the autobots and that’s the driving force…equality?

EDIT - @AcEtUrNeDjOkEr‌ I bought my ticket for the 9 on Thursday.

Fan wise, I am not seeing as much rage (at least from early reviewers). We’ll see the forums light up between now and Friday.

9:30 PM Thursday - My body might be ready!

It’s the absolute last thing I would’ve ever pegged TF for(not that I’m opposed, this helps justify so much stuff, and DAMN, it works hella well for pretty-understandable grudges…yooo), but it’s caste system stuff, basically, based on what your alt-form function is, etc. It’s like medieval guilds/India, but enforced to the logical extreme(even compared to those 2!) by those at the very top of the pyramid, no social mobility whatsoever, etc., with few exceptions(but they are there).

…Or at least, that’s what it was(YO ONGOING OOOOOOOF). Megatron lived up to his namesake(the one WITHOUT an R); the ones responsible are almost all dead, IIRC.(Autobot/Decepticon civil wars, they would’ve been some of the first to go!)

Did you know Megs started as a mine worker, and HAD NO NAME before he took Megatron as a name?
I think IDW might’ve actually gone that far about these. Ohhhhhh shit.
Do you know how important names are to sapient living things(not I didn’t say humans; you’re not the only species who likes having a name that holds meaning, meatbags!) That is a BIG deal.
They played it straight; that sort of thing has HAPPENED in human history.
They’re good, lol.

tl;dr http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FantasticRacism played horrifyingly straight.
Take my word for it regarding “horrifying”; you may want to take the time to mentally prepare yourself before certain parts of each arc. Trust me. It gets HEAVY. Hohohohoo shit.

EDIT: I just realized… One of the TV spots is called “Built”, and in it, Lockdown says Optimus “wasn’t born,” he was built.
…Maybe cold-forging? If they do that well, the floodgates are open.

So compared to some of the early reviews, the new ones are beating the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT out of this movie. Still looking forward to tonight. On Sundays I do a Google Hangout On Air of the summer movie of the week that has come out (so far it’s been weekly up until Think Like a Man 2 came out). If anyone is interested in my thoughts, I’ll post the link in here. The only thing I have noticed is most people talk more about Bay’s style of action vs. the actual movie/ plot itself. It’s possible there could be a lack there of, but still LOL

Yeah I checked RT earlier, it’s current score was @ 26%. Now, its a summer action movie, so I can’t expect super high scores, a movie like this should score in the 50s range at least however. 26% scares me though.

Big complaint is length. I’ve never understood people complaining about the length of a movie though. They must get to see the movie for free or something.

Noticable though, the comments haven’t been about the big issues from previous movies. Length is the biggest complaint, followed by plot, and women.

  • :bluu:

Then they are complaining about absolutely nothing at all.

Plot?
So; bad plot, or http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ViewersAreMorons in full effect in that they didn’t get it due to idiocy?
Those sorts of voices are the ones you interpret to be the opposite of reality; they are the enforced stereotype of stupid consumers.
They don’t matter, and might as well not exist.

Side note, I barely trust anyone about whether a movie is or not. People are too swayed by the own opinions.

Hell, I disregard most of Roger Ebert’s reviews because he was born with a tree trunk up his wazoo, and if he wasn’t objective, which e wasn’t in many of his reviews, he was an idiot whose bias lead to him shunning good films, that guy was a stereotypical elitist dick.

He usually had a basis for saying what he did. But, y’know, eh.

Saw those reviews…don’t care but a slight ruffle in the wind. You know everyone is going to watch it due to nothing being out for abit more.

The trick isn’t to disregard a review, but know the reviewer. From there you can usually adjust the review to know how it will be for you. on RT - Up got a 99% yet to me it was one of the worst Pixar movies ever. Action movies always get discounted, truly exceptional ones still get short changed - Captain America I don’t think is in the 90s anymore. It’s a Summer Pop Corn flick too, that’s at least two strikes against it by default - so even if it was a perfect movie, that would drag it down to at least an 80 from 100. I’d wager past experience with the franchise would drop the value to a 75 if it was a PERFECT movie. So I’ll take that 75% and look at what it currently has (last I saw was 26%, So in reality, I’m thinking that the movie is more like a 50% on the RT scale, which STILL isn’t good. I was hoping for more like a RT score of 60 which would make it a “B” (85%) movie.

Trust reviewers to THEIR taste and then judge their taste against yours.

I just wonder sometimes. These same reviewers who loved Pacific Rim are clowning this movie. Now I loved Pacific Rim but it wasn’t perfect. That movie has some of the dumbest dialogue, a nonsense plot, acting wasn’t anything worth mentioning, and could stand to be a little shorter as well. However, the glaring differences between Pacific Rim and Transformers (outside of the Director) is that one is not attached to a pre-existing franchise. I promise you, that if it was called Gundam: Gamma Epsilon- Rise of the Kaiju there would be an entirely different perspective. I also feel if you just put a different directors name on the title, the hate would subside.

Then purist would hate.

But like I said, for me its a pretty easy formula - and you are right, being part of a series that has been mostly trash means that there will be a 5-10% penalty. That works the other way too. I’m sure Thor 2 was propped up score wise by being part of the Avengers Universe.

One other thing, if Bay does a 50% better job with ‘showing’ the fights, they STILL wouldn’t look nearly as good and concise as the fights in Pacific Rim. With Pacific Rim, it didn’t ‘hide’ what it was. It was monster verse robot movie. with plot thrown in like a WWE match for their to be a REASON for it. Transformer movies though are based on a tv show made to sell toys. It’s why fanboys even have a hard time with it, I literally watched like ten episodes of the Trasnformers TV show this weekend with my boy (Insecticons were awesome back in the day), and the plot was so horrible that while there are big gaping Ava Devine type holes in the plot in the movies, its still more thought out than the TV show was. But, what is this movie to me? An excuse to see 100’ tall dinosaurs transform and fight and go ooh and ahh over the special effects. We’ve come a LONG way from ‘Eve of Destruction’ to now.

I love TF, and lets face it G1 is a 22 minute commercial, so when someone on a thread on TFW talks about the mythos and story (unless you are into the comics), the look I give is :

The bandwagon hate is stupendous. People are even saying the CGI is terrible. . . . . . like on PS2-PS3 graphic levels.

Maybe because it is turning into crap, I’m about to go watch it in an hour. Listened to this reviews. Having second thoughts to go watch it.

Jesus the douche radiating off of that guy is to much

that’s the thing. I really like Pacific Rim but hate transformers. Yes they share a lot of things, but the thing with transformers 1-3 is that it wasn’t about transformers. My hate, and the hate from the folks I personally know is that the movie was about some annoying spadzoid and his mediocre girlfriend.

Moments when they had the dialoge in part 2 where he talks to his parents about how much he loves them. Why? I don’t need to know about this, why don’t we have moments like these and swap places with the boy to the transformers? The human scenes took so long, but the actual scense where the transformers where doing work, they simply seemed rushed and bad.

the whole constructicon scene? Yeah fuck Micheal bay and his transformers.

Worse, when that blonde chick in part three played Megatron like that. Serioursly -_-

The problem isn’t with the franchise.
It’s with dumbfucks who don’t depict it well.
Relevant, but, regarding cartoons, TF Prime HAS HATERS.
So, going in, you know that a large amount of viewers do not matter.

I mean, TFP has haters. The best cartoon iteration of TF so far bar none…
And people rail against it.

Some idiots just don’t amount to more than the lowest common denominator, and never will.
They don’t exist, as far as I’m concerned.

Saw it…Thought it was solid, I can see its flaws. I’ll do a synopsis post sleep

Ok Im kinda tired cause this bitch is 3hours strong

As a transformers fan i enjoyed it but I did have a few slight issues.

Spoiler

Its like all they had to do really was switch Galvatron with Lockdown and basically that totally fixes the movie. Throw in some cyclonus and I stay to watch the midnight showing right after the 9pm showing lol.

Also Grimlock does not talk…such a wasted opportunity.
We just needed maybe 2 Me grimlock King, Me grimlock kick butt that was it but nope you have perfect spots for grimlock to talk and no talking? SMFH

Dinobots looked awesome I mean they truly looked awesome.

Last gripe, transformium or whatever its called it sounds cool but i want to see transformers, transform not idk morph lol.

Other than that I sorta liked that I saw tons more robots and the humans didnt really take away from the movie too much.

Hound was great!!
