It’s going to be interesting if the game is actually solid and fun to play but people just don’t go out and buy it. It’s not going to send a good message for a franchise that barely sells over a mil consistently.
You guys probably know about this, but for those that haven’t, the Another Metroid 2 Remake full version was released the other day. http://metroid2remake.blogspot.se/
Here’s a video of the incomplete version from awhile back:
Nintendo’s usually not one to DMCA fanmade stuff, unless you’re being blatantly obnoxious or profiting in some way from it.
They let Project M roam free for years, and only recently made them stop working on it to prevent it from interfering with their support of the Smash scene at tournaments.
“Nintendo’s broad library of characters, products, and brands are enjoyed by people around the world, and we appreciate the passion of our fans,” reads a statement provided to IGN by a Nintendo representative. “But just as Nintendo respects the intellectual property rights of others, we must also protect our own characters, trademarks and other content. The unapproved use of Nintendo’s intellectual property can weaken our ability to protect and preserve it, or to possibly use it for new projects.”
I mean, even dumb ass Capcpom worked with a Mega Man fangame once. Even if there were literally hundreds of better choices, and they instead chose the one that shoehorned Street Fighter into it
This is almost as bad as Sega pulling the plug on the SoR remake… It’s an IP you clearly don’t know what to do with, but the fans went and did something cool with it… Why not bring 'em in and see what they’ve got?
because the Japanese are assholes about what you can and can’t have with what they consider their work.
What you get is what they consider is what you need at the time. This isn’t like all the mario or megaman clones, this is a full fledged game that they made and is being “copied” into a new platform. They arne’t going to have that, and you should know that. Capcom was more fine with it probably because it was something new that they hadn’t done before or where never going to do. Cash in. This is something nintendo might do and they don’t want to lose potential money.
and extra lolz at bringing in talent like this, companies don’t get that big without having a bbc sized ego up their ass.
