Ya and once u get 3s … watch out for complains about it going to bigger screen.
lol my Akira is gonna be soooo crusty.
crusty or not, we could use some comp in VF to get more ppl interested in the game.
Any word on a 3s cab?
As for the status of 3s we’re still going through our vendors and I’ve also done some search for it (along w/ other games i.e. ggxx/ and t5dr). I’m becoming more and more optimistic that we’ll be getting one soon. Could be as soon as a few weeks but no confirmed ETA nor purchase at this moment. I’ll definitely let you all know of new game arrivals.
It’d be cool if it showed up before the tournament (10/7).
If not, maybe it’ll be in the next one.
Gettin the machines would definantley help the turn out at the arcade. Better sticks on the machines you already have would be good too. Thing i dont get is for an aracade that charges that much, how do you gys not have 360’s in everything?
You guys should add 3s to the tournament and just have it on console. Set up a TV with a PS2 or something and get a couple PS2 sticks.
There’s a slight chance that we may get a 3s kit before the tourney but it wouldn’t be part of the event lineup at such short notice.
As for us doing a console tourney; it is a possibility but lack of copies of certain games hinder that thought. Even though P1 and Playstation Store (PS store) have a great working relationship (as well as most of us being good friends) some games are out of production and they/we may not necessarily have access to them. Plus Playstation is still corprately run and still does have some redtape to cross for them to do/help out with special events. That is on a game by game basis however.
However here are my questions to all of you:
IF it were possible the next time we held an event like this, would you all mind some of the games be on console?
If we also found a way to do it with the custom cabinets that we have, what is the general opinion of us putting in controller ports for the fighters? So that would mean that we’d have the arcade sticks and the ability for you all to plug in your own stick/controller if you wanted.
What are your thoughts to us having solo game monthly/semi-monthly tourney’s like for example say one month we have an mvc2 tourney, next month a sc3 event, the following month cvs2, so on but every say 3-4months we have multiple games like this upcoming one with additional prizes?
These are just random thoughts that a couple of us have had and wanted to get a general opinion on.
Just a heads up we’re looking to hold a Puzzle Fighter Tourney some time in Nov. for any of you that are interested. Will post a date when it’s official.
Soulstar, there are many factors as to why P1 is what it is. A lot of it has to do w/ the location, the building, etc. Many people don’t know but the arcade which was orginally Metreon operated had changed ownership several years ago to a private company. It has been privately run along with LJ’s Martini Club and Grille (also part of the company) and a 3rd party tenant in Metreon for roughly 3 yrs now. Hopefully that sheds a little light on the subject. Essentially over the years the Metreon has gone from nearly all the venues run by the building to every other mall where each business is 3rd party. Not to say it’s a bad thing but a lot of changes have happened since the buildings’ opening.
Guys I know all of you are aware of it but how many are going to NCR in Dec. this year?
I think console would be OK just for now, but at the end of the day the arcade version of 3s is where its at. The timing on things is a little different on console.
I think you should do mothly tournies for 3s/MVC2/CVS2 and VF4…
and sc3 of course… also ya games like KOF2006 (the 3d one) and fight night boxing and stuff would be awesome to have tournys for… so console = good idea IMO.
hope we get a decent turnout and we’ll definitely do more tournies.
Put VF on console if the controls don’t work.
Rush: The controls on VF as far as I know work fine and the layout is fine. The only games that have button layout issues are CVS2 and MVC2 (of the tourney games).
For those concerned about the buttons. We have new control panels almost done and most likely will have them ready and good to go by the tourney next Saturday. Again we will have new sticks and buttons put in for the tourney so there should be no problems with the controls. If there are we have the whole management team all there that day and we all know how to fix the simple issues. Our in-house tech will also be on hand throughout the tourney as well. So everything should be all good.
what’s wrong with the mvc2 layout?
The VF controls are pretty bad. The buttons are fine, but the sticks are a different issue. It’s really loose and feels “crusty.” Like if you were to circle the stick around, you can feel “bumps” and “ridgedness” in it.
Same with CvS2. I can’t stress how badly the diagonals and everything else is messed up on the sticks no CvS2. DPs and motions never have been so hard to pull off >_>
Replacing the sticks with 360s/Competitions and tightening them up a bit would prob do the trick. If you can, drop by SFSU and compare the sticks or just get the sticks exactly the way SFSU has them.
+1 …
I really hope the panels and stuff are installed otherwise, i’m probably not coming. Theres a / tournament on the same day i’d rather go to. Please keep us updated.
