From my understanding that match up can go both ways once the MK player gets Snake in the air. The fact that Snake has a predictable recovery (as opposed to MK) puts this in MK’s favor. Only thing MK should look out for are Snake’s tilts, and MK’s downtilt is retarded. I believe it’s +5 frame advantage on block (shield?). I think the Snake’s who say this is an even match up are the ones who probably go to tournaments at high levels of play (probably on smashboards). Smashboards is trying to ban him(lol). Apparently it is getting to the point that everyone is using MK because he has no bad matchups and he’s easy to use. I hate the fact that he shuts down so many characters, real shame actually :shake:.
EDIT: Zoo wtf? Why did you start using that horrendous black font? >.>
Recent tourney results and dissucsion have proven otherwise. There are plenty of snake and MK players.
Like I said, it’s becoming a logical arguement. It isn’t exactly set in stone yet but it’s definatly starting to look like it will be. Test that matchup for yourself. If Ganon gets one stock ahead of snake (and this is considering that ganon shuts down snakes best approach method, snake doesn’t out prioritize ganon like he does most characters and other than bair, ganon really doesn’t have to much to fear from sanke in the air, and ganon EASILY gimps snake with Dair vs. cypher) snake has to chase him. You don’t want to have to chase ganon. Especailly to the edge due to the fear of him snatching you off the edge and ganonciding you.
Uh, MK technically has to attack more than most of the cast to get KOs. He has no knockback and that’s common knowledge. But meta wins off the edge because meta is ALOT better at gimping than snake.
But even if Snake had a WIDE advantage agianst MK (and he doesn’t. and most of the nation disagrees with NY if what you say is true) MK has more good matchups than Snake. Which would put him higher than snake by defualt.
Sure mk beats snake in the air but that’s really all he’s got mk has to watch out for ftilt, aaa combo, his specials, and especially utilt even nair can rock a flying mk but above all mk has to get snake up to 150-200% for a reliable ko and snake can ko mk under 50% fairly easy. A good snake player will also make sure tornado spam gets shut down with the quickness using grenades.
Tigerboi would you mind showing me some proof of all these people who think snake vs mk is an even matchup? I have a hard time believing that considering it’s a fact snake has a much easier time ko’ing mk then the other way around for reasons stated above.
ehhhh I have always found the matchup pretty close MK can juggle Snake quite well because of his recovery, and slow fall rate, but snake beats him in ground play by a little, but more importantly kills him alot earlier, but seriously its not that good one way or another.
MK d-tilt is not a problem power-shield that, his triple slashes are the most annoying since you can’t freaking powershield them gahh, not that they are unstoppable, just I love powershielding.
back when people thought snake had the advantage it was only 55/45 snake. Now?
Well, the match pretty much ends when snake gets knocked into the air. That, and it’s a popular misconception that snake’s main strategy is camping. It’s not really. It’s more like forcing approaching a setting up people to get hit by tilts.
Metaknight is to fast to be camped by snake. However, is was arguged to be even is because if snake can run away correctly, he can beat MK on the ground by a little.
As for showing you some proof: go check MK’s section on smash boards. Really.
Well since we’re on the topic of MK, what is the match up for MK vs. Bowser? I need to get ready for a local tourney, and I expect to see a shit load of Meta Knights.
proably bad, but its winnable expecially if they don’t take you seriously, I would shield grab MK alot, and use d-tilt+f-tilt for pressure, and abuse his fire for edge hoggs/anti B stuff, I would expect a 6:4 matchup in MK favor but I doubt any of them have played a good bowser, and don’t forget that backair basically prioritizes everything, so you can bait his attacks and kill him early, I would be more worried about ROB, Dedede,Falco rather than MK, because against MK you can at least try to zone him.
Sheildgrabbing metaknight is like sheildgrabbing fox in Melee except more impossible and I wouldn’t suggest dtilt. But firebreath and ftilt pretty good, don’t try to beat shuttle loop or glide attack cause you can’t. fair if you need an approach. Use upsmash to tech chase platforms that thing is a beast. Your going to have land a bair, upair, upsmash, fowardsmash, or dsmash to kill mk. Alot of them are impossible to hit with so i hope you can predict air dodges so you can get an upair or predict stupid grab approaches with dsmash.
Also hope you can get some stupid foward b kills cause you will need it. :shake:
Edit: Wait you are in FL? Learn how to get around tornado cause most MKs spam that down there. Also I would be more worried about snake there are alot of those running around in FL.
certain characters can sheild grab MK without 2 many problems, the only req is that they have a high and decent ranged grab which bowser has.
F-air is very punishable with most of the cast with MK its basically a freebe, bowser don’t have too much of a prob against snake, as long as he keeps snake under pressure.
d-tilt is proably bowsers best poke but your right it might not be the best to use against MK, also you can use Up B on the ground to get out of pressure during its first frame it has great priority.
BTW @tiger I have never though MK was unstoppable but I have always questioned the usage of snake he falls too slow and once he is knocked in the air a good MK can juggle him for a while unconditionally because of his fall rate, heck its the main reason why my ZSS raeps snake.
Now that I think about it, it is common sense. Snake has the slight advantage on the ground, and meta win flat out in the air. Meaning, Metaknight can make a few mistakes and still win. Snake makes one mistake and he gets beaten up to 100+ percent and dies.
It’s bad.
But winnable.
Don’t EVER roll. Just use fortress in place of rolling. Abuse fire breath alot. Remember to tilt your shield to avoid getting shield stabbed. Don’t go hit for hit with him. Hell, if you make them afraid enough of getting hit by up-b and fire breath enough, maybe you can run the clock out.
yeah I was about to say F-air doesn’t seem to work well against MK, normally I try to land cancel with neutral/up air into a grab and get MK above me and attack his weak point(below him) for MASSIVE DAMAGE.
Try over a year ago.
And let’s not forget #R Eddie, he was never banned or was it even discuss to ban him.
I’m actually surprised too.
There is a tournament being hosted in El Paso, TX happening mid November that is banning MK and majority of the people attending the tournament are going along with this ban.
C’mon guys, let’s all ban Yun in 3rd Strike!
Wait? Akuma is now considered the best character? Then let’s ban him!!!
Fuckin’ retarded, why would they do such a thing.
MK is beatable no doubt about that. He is strong, but not crazy broken.
Shit, these smash players need to play other fighters and actually get good at it and learn about it, rather than being stupid about there own game. Learning the principles on other fighters helps give you knowledge and a better mindset on the current fighting game you are playing.
Seriously…
EDIT: Actually, no wait…
I heard a Diddy Kong player beasted on M2K at some large tournament in Florida. The only reason you see M2K on top is because they split the money, then the after tournament matches that DK player raped him.
Metaknight does make a good portion of the cast unplayble. He’s beatable, but he is BROKEN.
But if you’re going to play brawl, THEN FUCKING PUT IT WITH HIM OR STOP PLAYING THE GAME.
Smash fans are gay.
I mean, yeah tripping is bad, but making a hack to remove it? it sounds like you just need to play another game if it bothers you so much that you’ll do that.
So yes, even though I think he’ll eventually reach t4 jin status, he doesn’t need to be banned.
UPDATE: I entered the tournament with Bowser. I managed to beat a MK, he really wasn’t that good. Even though he was pretty bad it was hell, and I’m glad I was able to beat him. It took me down to my last stock, with 1:30 seconds down on the timer. For whatever reason he didn’t counterpick; I’m really glad he didn’t use DDD. I took you guys’ advice, it worked very well. However, my victory was short lived, and to my dismay I had to fight a second MK (Fuck). This guy was good…really good. It was almost as if I wasn’t even a challenge, and I got three stocked. Stupid Up B OOS. I counter picked with Snake, and that proved to be pretty disastrous. He gimped the shit out of me ( I suck with Snake )
Overall it was a pretty cool experience, but MK really ruined the experience. I was hoping to fight another High/mid character. Meh maybe next time.
