SOME people may be lazy, yes… because your friend wants to party instead of gaming, thats bad? maybe if hes like 40 or something. Pretty sure a bday party you can make friends, play games, get some good comp in beer pong, and have overall mad fun.
Honestly, i didnt know you had a gathering, but im sure as hell not driving to MD when i can play online. Thats what killed the scene, online. Why travel for 1 hour to someones house when i can play in my undies on the couch against you guys? I used to have 2-3 gatherings a week for 2.5 years until STHD came out.
For the hype, no lag (assuming your converter, if you’re using one, works perfectly fine), for the learning experiences, discussions about the game that help you learn more and more, and simply for the extrovertedness of chillin’ with friends, playing games.
One more thing, and this is directed towards everyone who is actively posting in this thread on a routinely basis:

Whoever takes it seriously, play seriously, and you’ll more than likely play more often and better than those who don’t take the game seriously. Everyone’s always going to have those different opinions. And some of those “different” opinions are actually similar opinions; they’re just viewed from a not-so-similar perspective. As a former student of UMBC, its a nice place to play for sure. the game room always has people. However its not ideal for what were talking about in this thread.
hmm i guess it would have to be explained more on the other one, he played games only at the party. when he could have been playing more at mine. its more he choose one of the other for unknown reasons. :lame:
Honestly that bums me out you wouldn’t drive.:mad: I remember driving to your house quite a bit. I had fun, even watching, theres was only 3 to 4 tvs if i remember. That’s kinda my point though, if everyone drove to your house why not drive to theirs. Slogan hosted the bomb ass Braeburn tourneys. So he gets a pass for not really playing as much until SF4.
But N-KEN and B1gazn will post endlessly on SRK, Ask “why no marvel?”, show up to tourneys, not pay the venue fee or enter in the tourneys,** DON’T ENTER MARVEL**, and then have the gall to whine about there not being tournaments or lock in’s anymore.
You guys have absolutely no right to give new players a hard time, b/c you do nothing for the community.

Yeah, well I tried to help the community a while ago. While you were in Iraq, I organized two gatherings that, I considered big. They were at Pablo’s, a person who doesn’t post on SRK, he might have 7 posts. Twice I made the attempt to gather players, not only marvel. Both times I picked up and dropped off players from the metro. I made multiple trips to drop people at the metro. Most of them were GG players. GUILTY GEAR PLAYERS!!!

If I remember, I played in the MvC2 tourney at Sinsation. I lost to Skisonic and Slogan. Unlike you, I wasn’t disqualified unreasonably. :razz:

Except my DC was the only marvel machine going at the lockins half the time when I was going you mean? Guess I never showed up to WHERES MARVEL when no one had a system thats for sure. Marvel entries is an endless cycle because NO ONE signs up until anyone else signs up, multiple times Ive signed up for marvel but it doesnt get running, you really dont know what your talking about as far as all that goes robin.
well im saying NOW i wouldnt really… because i can just play you online… my point was that online gaming ruined the “gathering” scene. if you had a large gathering, id prolly go. But like 4-5 people, nah… Hell one night i drove to richmond with pete during a fucking hurricane to play for like 2 hours then turn around and leave. (of course it was for marvel, a game i cant play people online with) You know i mean no disrespect, but i can win without lag!
4 times!!! i think i played that guy 1 time and won. although i do randomly get dc’s its prolly cause of me being on wireless. i need to find another ethernet cord. remember when you were over and i would get random dc’s even when i was losing. i think figured out it was cause i was on wireless and get random dc’s.
