For those wondering about the tourney this weekend, a pretty good post was made here

As a manager at one of the Round 3 locations, I’ll give you the run-down and dispel some of the bad information that is circulating here.

First, regarding sticks. 2/3rds of all of the Round 3 locations have been sent regular sticks for use in Round 3. Not tournament-edition sticks. GameStop corporate is working with MadCatz until the last moment in an attempt to get sticks to all Round 3 locations, but as of now, some of the Round 3 locations do not have sticks and may not have them available for Saturday. All of the stores do have fight pads available. At the time of your match(es), you may choose which type of controller you want to use from the controllers the available to the store. If you have practiced for these rounds on an XBox 360 controller and now feel more comfortable with it, you may request to use it. If you wish to use a stick, the stick will be available. If you want to give the fight pads a try, you may use them. You may not use your own stick.

Each Round 3 location is being sent tournament-edition sticks to give out as prizes for Round 3. These will be given to you on site, unlike the round 2 prizes, which will be arriving in the mail. Round 2 prizes should arrive at your house no later than April 5th.

With regards to character rosters, no, the rosters have not been expanded. Round 3 will be fought with original characters only, as was the case with Round 1 or Round 2. This decision was made in part by both GameStop corporate and Capcom. If you played Round 1 or Round 2 in a location that allowed expanded console characters, your location chose not to abide by the rules set forth by our corporate sponsors. I know some of you probably think those locations did you a favor, but they didn’t. All they’ve done is create a headache for those of us that have to host after them. Please be respectful toward your Round 3 host and do not harass him in an attempt to use a console character, or place any sort of blame you may have for this decision.

The tournament is continuing under the same rules you abided by in Rounds 1 and 2. There has been talk of having “EVO Judges” on hand at Round 3 locations, but to my knowledge, this was tentative talk that will probably not filter out. Even if an agreement is reached to put Evo Reps at your location, you will still be playing by the same rules as before. That means single elimination proceedings.

I’ll be hanging around the house tonight and checking this thread off and on if you guys have any more questions. I’ll try and share what I can.

Darn… now I don’t even know what I’m gonna use. I’ve never used a fightpad before… used an SE for the first time yesterday and couldn’t really get the hang of it. Used a TE a couple times and couldn’t get the hang of that either… too bad I can’t use my EX2.

I don’t even know what to choose…

i dont post much here but read so shout outs to all players new and old. old gametime players, robin, pat, eric v and others. we should play in c3 once a month somehow and just train up hard to have somebody from md/dc/va get top 3 in evo. thats it yo, that’d be some real good shit. even if ur a nooob and never touched the game and want to game, just come and bring it. period. no making fun or whatever. but dont get upset if u lose to hav or robin or slogan 50-2. just learn and win 2 more next time and so on. im sure ill get handed by players here to a degree but i wont cry about it, i welcome the ass handing to learn as should others. dont fight, train. westcoast and nyc are a beast cuz they play consistently and its impossible to stay a shit player if u get handed your ass by top player consistently. i know there are top players in the area, but others should try to catch up and at least give them good matches if you want to improve. i’m here to get better, what are others here for? playing for fun? thats all good, but a new person cant get upset if the competition is too fierce or too serious and so on, cuz why would i sacrifice valuable sessions for someone who doesnt give a shit and mashes buttons? please dont flame i wont even waste time to respond to flames for the sake of flaming. nobody is 10 here, until then train up and somebody get top 3 in evo. wrap up the japanese or west coast.

All that dumb shit aside, congratulations to Eric Kim. I’m really proud man.

Now we all have to get together for good, SERIOUS sessions so we can send Eric out prepared. I’m talking about multiple times a week, hard practice sessions. Only killers need apply.

Seriously, I’m all for getting new people in, and getting them up, and a part of this scene, but for right now, the focus is Eric Kim. That’s how I feel. So we need to get the beasts together, and take care of this. We’re all gonna get better as a result of this, but it’s about Eric now.

Jist of story. Robin and ski were late, tourney guy took a vote to see if they could play, frostbyte said no, so they werent allowed LOLOL it was hilarious… whats funny is he actually thought he had a chance to win.

kimmicks had a free ride, the guy he played in finals had a good bison though. also named eric, some guy from fredsricksburg

phrostbyte knifing the opponent’s tires before the race. Even though he had a 0% chance once Kimmiks showed up early, he tried to budge it to a 1% chance by taking out Ski and Robin.

That’s cool that there was a good Bison player. Hopefully you guys directed him here and we can get him in the scene.

Guy from Fredericksburg here. I ended up losing to the other Eric in the “All Eric Final” in basically the same way I lost to DSP in online ranked. I just couldn’t hack it on pad and I kept doing the same stupid shit over and over. He was better, I wasn’t. I’m glad I got as far as I did. I know there’s always people going “It would have been different on stick”, but that’s not what the tournament was on and there’s just no room for excuses. I’d love to play some of you folks again. I’m mostly hoping the folks who took videos post it up online soon. If anyone knows anything about that, holla.

I’ll be going to C3 and that thing up in Sterling, though I won’t be in the area after April so I’m trying to get into whatever events pop up between now and then.

You can never have too much of a good thing. Like getting hit with a focus attack to the mouth! I was actually expecting to play Renegade, the pad thing was a bit of a surprise, but not too much considering the business running the damn thing.
