That’s pretty much what you gotta do with Haggar on point. Use assists to help him get in and shutdown the keepaway game before it starts then use his moves and gimmicks to open em up and take em down. He’s a team player. Put him on point and make sure he’s got at least one good anchor to support him.

I don’t get the whole “zoning is going to be everything now that’s why Haggar isn’t going to do well” stuff. The whole point of zoning being stronger comes from the Air Dash nerf, and that nerf helps Haggar a lot.
Not just the air-dash nerf. A lot of the new characters like Rocket and Hawkeye have amazing zoning tools that are betting than anything the cast had in vanilla. Also various tweaks to existing characters will make them more effective zoners like Chris being able to cancel his command normals, Iron Man being able to cancel his :d: + :h:, Deadpool being able to teleport-cancel his guns etc.
i think deadpool and rocket raccon are going to be haggars biggest problems since they move so fast and can fill the screen with alot of crazy stuff. hawkeye im not to sure on yet he has alot of arrows but he can’t angle them like taskmaster…i kinda feel like he needs a good anti air assist to be really effective kinda like chris did in vanilla to do really effective keep away. other then that i feel like if you got in before you will find a way to get in again with a good assist.

You can check out one of Max’s UMvC change log videos, but basically Deadpool can cancel any of his special moves into Teleport.
According to Roz’s time with Ultimate this past weekend, :d: + :h: can only be canceled into :f: + :h: but when used as an OTG they won’t combo without an assist. If :f: + :h: can still be special canceled then a follow up may be possible with the right assist but that’s going to take some testing.
Fine by me. Pipe hits hard as hell anyway. so even if all you get after a combo is OTG, assist, Pipe it’s mighty nice.
If :f: + :h: can be empty canceled, it might even be possible to OTG into special if you’re super fast. I’m probably dreaming though.
it should definitely be possible to hodlum launcher after but im a little worried about being able to hit rapid fire fist after the otg/assist/pipe…i mean it should be easier since in regular marvel you knock they guy all the way across the screen. but i have a feeling thats going to be a devistating move if you can double mash for bananas damage
Depending on the assist and float time we’ll either get the empty cancel to hoodlum L or violent axe L. Or maybe a reset with hoodlum M/H.
We got plenty of Lab work ahead.

it would only happen at the end but im hoping that it will lift just enough so i can dhc to frank shopping cart and when it does the wall bounce ill be able to take a picture right after for a level up
Definitely this, if Capcom adjusted Rapid Fire Fists so that Haggar’s enemies don’t just fall out of it during a combo which forcing Hags to DHC to keep himself safe and extend the combo, that would make the move infinitely less annoying especially if while they’re at it they reduce the level of mashing required to get to max hits for the hyper (I’m on a pad and I can only get it up to second highest level at max, it burns :(.
As for the crouching :h: to OTG to pipe even if we won’t be able to cancel any specials/hypers afterwards we shouldn’t worry too much as it still does massive damage for an OTG, generates tons of hit-stun (DAT PIPE) and Hags will be able to easily call assists during it, though this is just speculation.
Overall though I just want Capcom to make Haggar to be seen as more than just an assist character, because of anyone in the cast that deserves to be right in the middle of a fight laying the smack down rather than waiting on the sidelines, it’s the goddamn Mayor of Earth!
I said this earlier in another thread, keep in mind unless you use an assist that stands them (all I can think of is Spencer’s assist right now) hitting them with the pipe after the OTG will use a ground bounce.
Still it let’s Haggar for sure follow up his air throws and command grabs, it’s going to lead to some pretty brutal resets me thinks.
if pipe can still empty cancel we will have no problem following up after assist since their was no mention on the changes about it im going to remain cautiously optimistic.
edit- after playing around in training mode for a bit I’m thinking spencer slant shot assist is going to be the guy for haggar…so many reset possibilities its a good thing im not awful with him…so team is going to look like haggar spencer projectile assist maybe (doom or hawkeye). im also going to play around with haggar,frank, hawkeye.

I wonder… cr.H can only cancel into pipe. Pipe can be empty cancelled correct? like it doesn’t need to hit at all in order to be cancel-able ?
here’s what I’m thinking. Cr.H into pipe into any special move (or hyper) fast enough to still catch the opponent off the OTG. for example,
land piledriver> OTG cr. H> Pipe cancel> L violent axe
or OTG> pipe cancel> RFF?
I feel like that just might work. it will probably be tight timing, but I think it could work.
also, I just want an excuse to write “Pipe Cancels” all across this board. c’mon, y’all gotta agree, it has a ring to it XD
