hulk…how do you deal with relentless gamma charges backed up with assists
the simple answer…lariat. The charges have armor and haggar doesnt have multi-hitting moves to deal with that. And if assists are you used up close to back it up you get a happy birthday. if long range moves are used (drones) go for command grab, hulks are going to want to abuse their armor against haggar and all their armor moves start on ground (except for dp)
So. exactly HOW is it that Haggar doesn’t give two shits about pushblock? A lil help here?
Hoodlum L and Violent Axe L and M? I mean like, it’s not the hardest thing to figure out like Haggar has so many moves that are positive on block.
Bum actually put up a tutorial on how he plays his team, and he went into detail about how he deals with Pushblock. It’s in his channel archives somewhere, I think it was part of that Bum vs. Dire set.
Yeah I gotta find that. I’m sure I’m just nuking it and trying too hard.
Ok… time to find it…
Hey guys, it’s been a while since I posted here. I played Haggar in vanilla and tried to play him on point day 1 umvc3, but I decided to give Tron another shot because she needed more help than Haggar did. Anyway, I’m back to playing Haggar in the second slot with my vanilla team of Tron/Haggar/Doom.
Some questions that I hope are on topic, since we’re discussing some of BUM’s archives.
I think one of BUM’s strongest aspects of his Haggar is his character-entry mixup with f.H. It looks like he’s spacing the f.H to either cross under or not, and sometimes he empty cancels the f.H into :qcf:+:l: and combos off of that. Is there a discussion or tutorial on exactly what this mixup is, its variations, its strengths and what beats it? It looks like a very valuable tool to maintain pressure or to condition the opponent into a different type of mixup.
Secondly, in the rare event that his Haggar ends a combo that doesn’t kill, he has really good oki prediction with SPD and j.M. Are there any inputs other than plink dash tech chases he uses to achieve this? Other than the obvious tendency to forward tech if the opponent is cornered I’m not sure how he’s so successful with catching techs, it’s pretty crazy.
More generally, what’s Haggar’s best blockstring? For some reason I would use c.LM f.H dp+L which is plus enough on block to go for headbutt/pipe and it seems to beat pushblock a bit better.
Thanks in advance SRK!
Call me crazy but I think Bum is going on the opponent fearing the pipe’s huge area coverage on entry, making the opponent hold BACK to block and make’em instinctively CONTINUE to hold BACK to get crossed under for free with Violent Axe L.
Though I agree with you that he may be using that as a spacing tool. I need to find that vid ~_~
On that note. I got my PS3 fixed. So I can finally get back to testing every character for assisting Haggar with his OTG. Gonna go with the less used characters seen with Haggar as characters like Spencer (Slant shot) Frank (Halal Cart) are obvious.
Hey Guys,
Be Kind, Believe, Enjoy. More on the way

Y’all need to keep making videos. I was laughing my ass off the entire time. Y’all hilarious. I demand more.
Thanks man. We’ve started work on episode 2. Don’t want to spoil it too much but it ivolves dealing with teams that have matching clothing items…
So I’ve been thinking a lot lately on how exactly Haggar is supposed to fight Zero.
what i used to do was just super-jump at him and pray that i can land a pipe somewhere during his series of lightning -> buster -> lightning. but it’s just too hard to catch him consistently.
when i try to stay grounded i usually die pretty quick.
so i don’t really have a good strategy atm. i usually just try to get at him in between lvl 3 busters. and sometimes i just wait for him to cross me up, then i lariat (but this is kind of an “all-in” gamble)
can he be thrown out of air lightning at any point?
Air pipe works alright before buster is charged. however if your fighting a smart zero that always keeps it charged utilized a good timed lariat. Most zero stay in the air for cross up shenanigans, lightning dashes, and teleports. If you lariat through any of these either during the move or recovery, zero is high enough to where after he hard knockdowns after you can dropkick otg follow up for combo
I found this reset when I was playing with my team the other day (Haggar/Wesker/Doom):
Crouch L -> Crouch M -> S -> M -> M -> H -> Air Pipe -> Hoodlum Launcher L -> M -> M -> H -> S -> Wesker Assist OTG -> Wild Swing -> Call out Doom Molecular Shield Assist -> Crouch Heavy OTG into Pipe (While opponent is getting hit by the rocks) -> Hoodlum Launcher H -> Repeat
I’m not sure how useful this would be since it’s corner only but I thought it was pretty neat and has helped me…
Hey Guys,
We’ve got another episode up, this time we tackle the challenges of dealing with trench coats, and how to approach certain online situations. Enjoy

I think this is very similar to the reset I found with my team, Its pretty much the same combo, just swap wesker to hawkeye poison and doom rocks with frank’s cart. It causes them to recover in the air and then get caught by the H hoodlum. If the set up is the same like I think it is, you do not have to be in the corner for this to work on a neutral or backwards recovery(plus if they try to use a beam or gun super on recovery they will get grabbed anyway with the launcher.) The only problem with this set up is it does not work on a forward recovery. In the case of a forward tech, I just jump up for a command grab. This works in training mode and in local matches all day but I have yet to actually pull it off online.
Another great video. I feel you on not having time to play and how rusty you can get in such a small amount of time. I havent had much time to play and Im losing as many matches and dropping as many combos with haggar as when I first picked him up. I also fully agree with you guys on your stance on the coats. I was thinking of making a cheaper team after how many times Ive recently lost to BS but I stuck through it and Im pretty sure it is for the better. On the rare occasion that I can get some in person matches, everyone loves and respects my haggar when I can actually react to their BS.
edit: I think playing the intro at the end is WAY better, its way too long but when it is at the end, we get your commentary through it which is way better. Cant wait for the next ep.
Thanks for the feedback man. Glad we’re doing alright by you guys. and the edit is appreciated.
Good stuff man keep it up. Just one thing I noticed is you can go for a full combo after an anti-air lariat instead of just going into super, pick up with c.H and assist.
I know what you mean, but doing that online is risky, because if lag messes up your timing you cr.H nothing because they’re recovering, and you put yourself in an otg’able state for them to get a full combo punish.
