Holy shit, awesome.
I went with adept, but would have rather went as Vanguard or Soldier. Game was still not too hard (i LOVED the new combat system, although needing to find ammo sucked balls). I did enjoy how they tweaked with biotics, although I hope they make em even better.
Be sure to learn to use your directional pad to direct where you want your party to take cover. And learn to use biotic combos (ie Pull and Warp, for instance) against people. Getting some of the biotics fully levelled early on, rather than spreading out your characters abilities, was helpful too.
Once you get Grunt, that fucker should never leave your side. Once he had concussion shot maxed, he was my hero. I never used the friggin’ doctor until the last level, where I found out he was insanely fucking awesome.
Anybody have any guesses about what Project Wombat could be for ME3??? I know the last “Project XXXXXXX” or whatever they called it was the re-doing of the combat system, which turned out to be incredible. I had to go out and buy Mass Effect 1 and 2 after renting 2 and loving the end.
And high fives to everybody that stuck it in Jack
So, I loaded up Mass Effect 2 earlier to start up my “renegade” run. I noticed that there was new content to download, so I checked to see what was there. I knew that the DLC involving the new vehicle was there, but there was something else: new character costumes! Specifically, a pack containing new outfits for Garrus, Jack and Thane. “Oooh, nifty!” I thought. I got the Cerberus Network card when I got the game, so it must be free, right? Wrong. For some reason, every other DLC pack I’ve downloaded was free due to the Cerberus card, but this new costumes pack isn’t?
What the hell?!
You get ALOT of stuff for free, but not all of it is going to be free.
The new character, Kasumi thats coming very soon, has a mission pack that comes with her too, they say its around 90 minutes of additional game play. I think it’ll cost 560 microsoft points.

That’s fair. I mean, I don’t mind paying for something like costumes. Still, the fact that I do have the Cerberus card and that little thing not being free while everything else being free irked me.
No matter, I don’t mind schilling a little cash to Bioware. They make great games, they deserve it.
They kinda fixed biotics by giving them some great AoE attacks and combo’s, but yeah some things were just stupid. Half the fights you would get into would just be you trying to lower your enemies shields enough that you could use those abilities on them.
And yeah, shotguns licked unholy amounts of anus. Seriously, most of my characters dying was attributed to me attempting to use a shotgun with them. If any enemy got that close, you was DOOMED.
I heard that the Eviscerator makes up for it somewhat. I’ll believe that when I see it, but that means I’ll have to play a class that uses shotguns. I might give Soldier a spin.
Shotguns are strong, but it’s unique, also every shotgun plays differently, tbh unless you are a Vanguard use other guns. Anyways, shotguns’ effective range is point-blank to melee range. To get the most out of it, combine it with melee, and you link you shot with melee for the best result.
Eviscerator: 1 shot, 2melee, 1 shot 2 melee.
Scimitar: shot, melee, shot melee; you push shot and melee at the same time(for PC, no clue about 360), if done right your melee cause like no delay between shots.
Shotgun actually shoot 8 bullets at the sametime in a cone shape, game only renders 4, so it does piss poor damage outside it’s effective range. Point blank nothing comes close, maybe the LMG, maybe…
Singularity…bring Miranda and Thane, Singularity still stuns enemy even they are shield/barrier/armor, when they have the stun animation you can warp and it detonates, so after 2 warp bombs most enemies’ defense will be gone…red health=Instant kill for adapt.
BTW Singularity can stun lock some tough enemies, like the Scion.
I could see bringing two people with the same power in situations where you know you’ll encounter enemy X, Y, or Z. I tend to make “all-purpose” teams, but your idea is also good. It helps you optimize for a given situation.
I play my adapt mainly for combo and watch enemies literally flying all over the screen. Usually 1 warp from your team + a tech spec from your team is perfect. Adept doesn’t lock down the battle field like ME1, but still controls it better than most class. You just need something/someone else beside your own biotics to remove defense, nothing wrong with it since it is team based combat.
Some combos:
Pull pull throw
Sing throw
Sing warp warp
Pull shockwave
Pull warp throw throw
Watching people flying away=LOL.
I went through insanity on my vanguard and its a pretty beastly class. Shotguns are useless for other classes though because you never get in range. For a bonus skill, I took geth shield fortification with the 10% damage boost. With these shield skills, before you get in a firefight keep spamming these shields to keep them up, then when you finally use charge, the shield bonus + charge bonus will be stacked. It really helps your survivability especially on insanity. To play a vanguard charging is a must. Just keep charging because heavy charge refills your shields. As an head accessory I took the 10% headshot, since during slowdown you have enough time to aim at the head.
I also like to take grunt on missions. He helps me rush people down. If you feel like you would be too outnumbered in a scenario before charging in, make sure he has fortification up, then tell him to move in, then i would charge in with him. Its also good idea to weaken up people before you move in, especially if they armored up. The carnifax is still a good gun against armor so don’t be afraid to use it (and the tempest is actually decent against barriers up close, it’s defnitely a viable choice of a weapon when charging).
For a bonus gun I would say the claymore is pretty awesome. I use to try armor piercing with it and it can 1 shot most things. But even with a lesser ammo power like inferno, you can take out harbinger with 2 shots and some smacks (its good to get him during possession). If you consistently shotgun glitch though, this is by far the best weapon for a vanguard. What you do is hold the trigger and it would fire, then when you hear a click during reload, smack and it would quickly fire a shot after smacking. I only use this on enemies that i stay up close and can survive, like the geth primes. I don’t have the mental awareness to do this 24/7.
edit: about shield powers though, once they are depleted once and you charge and refill it, it would just be the charge bonus on top, so you eventually need to reactivate the shield power if you could not charge fast enough to recharge it. But thats ok sometimes, its better to backpedal when fighting into cover and it really help to have a shield power in unchargable situations because its a free refill (against praetorians or snipers in a far off place). I was also thinking of trying barrier since its biotic and it would stack with the vanguards biotic cooldowns but i;m not home right now to try it out (Plus I like the damage bonus from gsb).
I’m trying to think of a good partner for Grunt. I don’t use him often enough, largely because of a lack of anyone to really bring along with him. I was thinking about Miranda or Thane, but I guess it depends on the particular mission.
Miranda is great just for the bonuses. Warp and overload also are great spammed. I personally just pick people who have abilities to take down defenses depending on the mission. Once they are down, then me and grunt have it easier (grunts concussive shot is awesome against barriers and seeing them fly after a charge is just hilarious).
So i often take garrus, miranda, mordin, zaeed but I also take tali and legion. A drone actually works wonders and is a great distraction even if your allies have like long cooldowns. I;m thinking of making an engineer playthrough just because i like how tali and legion can keep a geth prime turned around even when I’m shotgunning him in the ass.
New DLC comes out tonight, who’s coppin it? Ill get it tonight :).
Before I download this, I want to know if this new Kasumi character has full dialogue branches and etc. or if she’s lame like Zaeed. And also if I can have sex with her, because that’s really what the game’s about anyway.
…who am I kidding, I’m going to pick it up anyway, I love this game too much.
Getting it.
Got it. Playing it now.
PC version of Kasumi DLC is up.
I like kasumi’s character and mission alot more than Zaeed’s mission.
She’s a fun character to be around and I like her shadow strike.
