Not every single quest will make an appearance in ME2. The consequences of that particular quest is the immediate respect given to you by the c-sec officer.
Warp ammo or that shit samara gives for a new infiltrator? On insanity.
Warp ammo. To valuable. Reave is useless in most cases cause guys have shields and barriers/armor that you have to take down in order for reave to be effective.
isn’t the whole point of reave that it does a ton of barrier or armor damage? It does decent damage in Hardcore, but I don’t know about insanity
Fuck me sideways in zero-g. My brother just let me borrow this damn game. FUCK!
I gotta avoid it and hit that level 60 cap in ME1 before I start this though.
BUT MOTHER FUCK IS THIS SHIT TEMPTING. UGHHHHHH!
Reave does like half the damage that warp does on every form of protection. Really the only point i see in Reave is the life leech and the amount of stun it puts the enemy in.
Fuck yeah making a new character for ME2 without any save data from ME is assville.
wow, i notice they really gimped shotguns in this version. I remember in me1, if you shotgun a guy from hella feet away, the dude who gets shot is gonna feel it.
anyways, i just beat the game yesterday. is it me or is charge useless? It seems only useful if you have a probe distractor guy in your team, and if you want to quickly finish off 2 weakened opponents. I beat the game on veteran, and i’m assuming that a pure CQC vangaurd cannot make it in insanity because his ass is going to get shot. I’m content with shockwave and pull though.
thoughts?
Warp Ammo is beast.
I’m currently doing an insanity playthrough with a vanguard, and in my opinion, playing a vanguard on insanity is the secret difficulty level after insanity, haha. So far I’ve beat the game on insanity with an infiltrator and adept, and I can honestly say that playing as a vanguard is a lot more difficult than those two classes.
Charge is definitely a more difficult skill to use on insanity, especially in the early parts of the game. I was dying quite a bit until I leveled high enough to evolve Assault Mastery into Champion, and Charge into Heavy Charge. With Champion, your power recharge times are shorter, which gives you earlier access to your powers after a charge (and thus increasing survivability), and the health boost also helps. I like the slow motion from Heavy Charge because it gives you a little more time kill your target and then move following a charge.
In my opinion, Reave is probably one of the better bonus skills for a vanguard. I first tried Reave with my infiltrator, but ended up switching to Warp Ammo, because I felt better synergy with it. I originally was using Warp Ammo with my vanguard, which was nice because you can kill a variety of enemies fairly quickly, but ever since I switched to Reave, I’m actually surviving a lot more often. I’ll typically start a battle by throwing out a few shockwaves to separate enemies, and then alternate between Reave and Charge, picking off targets one by one. It’s a very fun strategy, but you’ll die if charge at the wrong time or if you charge at the wrong enemy.
No matter what, playing a vanguard on insanity is pretty difficult, especially if you play the class how it’s meant to be played (i.e., CQC). However, I still do it because it’s fun as hell, even if I run the risk of dying more often. My brother made a vanguard and was just using shockwave and pull (and almost never used charge), and I asked him, “Why play a vanguard like that, when you can just make an adept and do the same thing but better?”
Improved cryo ammo makes heavy charge great.
Can’t you only freeze people with Cryo Ammo if their defenses are gone?
Holy shit. I’m getting my ass handed to me on the Grunt mission on Insanity (Infiltrator). How the fuck did you guys do this? Damn Krogans/spam-bot and femshield completely wreck me.
Here are some tips that you might find helpful in this fight:
As soon as you enter the room, take cover to your right, there will be a little spot where you can get behind. Let your companions move on their own so that they can automatically adjust their own positions. If you try to make them hold a position, if a rocket knocks them back, they won’t return to cover on their own (one of the AI flaws in this game). Try not to use stealth, so that the enemies will move towards you (it’s easier to track their positions, and it makes your companions survive a little longer). Only use stealth as an emergency if you need to reposition yourself.
When the battle begins, the first Krogan will be released. Take it out as soon as possible. Each time a Krogan is killed, another is released (I think there are around 5 Krogans in total). Just make sure to drop them before they get too close. Use incinerate (along with Warp if you have a companion with you that can use it) to melt away the Krogan’s armor before sniping him.
If you want, you can work on taking out the mech in between each Krogan, but just keep in mind that another Krogan is released shortly after killing the previous one.
Once the mech reaches you, if you’re behind cover, you’ll be safe from its bullets. However, if you see it charging up a rocket, move out of the corner of the cover spot, or else the rocket will knock you out of cover.
Once all the Krogans are dead (or alternatively the mech), the fight is basically yours. But don’t slip up. I recently did this battle with my vanguard on insanity, and after I managed to kill all of the krogans and the mech, my dumb ass thought it would be a good idea to charge at Jedore, which resulted in me taking a shot to the face by her rocket in point blank range.
It’s definitely one of the harder battles in this game on insanity. I hope my advice helps.
The new E-22 shotgun is a fucking beast even on insanity. Its probably the best close range weapon in the game now. 1 shot at medium to close will take out 50%-75% shields, 100% barrier or armor. Kills a Krogran out right in about 5-6 shots. Also you don’t need to specialize it like the Claymore.
Its the equivalent of getting a headshot with the hand cannon all the time at close range.

[details=Spoiler]how did you guys decide to organize your squad in the suicide mission? I sent them according to trust, and future utility. I expected them to die if they weren’t with me. I didn’t realize they would live if you chose them according to their skills. I didn’t trust Miranda for ME3. She’s way up in Cerberus’ ass.I sent Legion to go through the vents (don’t trust geth long term vs reapers). Indoctrination requires a reaper around organics, a simple virus can take over the whole geth. I thought zaeed could hold the line for me. I think it’s perfectly reasonable that he’s on par with Miranda and Garrus to lead. The dude is an experienced merc. He shouldn’t have died on me!
In the end, Zaeed and that scientist dude (forgot his name atm) died on me. I didn’t care about mr.scientist dude, sure didn’t watn to see him die but i’m thinking utility first. i dont even know how he died.
I kept the base. Could be useful. Sure, you’ll win without the base, but that’s meta-gaming!

So I borrowed this game from a friend the other night. Shit feels pretty much like the last one. Im about 3 or 4 hours in (about where I was when I stoped playing the first one) and its borring. I want to stop playing this one since I havent done much but walk around and talk to npc’s. I’ll keep going though and hope it picks up a bit.
Imitrex, all you have to do is: once okeer tell you fight, go downstairs but DO NOT LET YOUR AI BOTS ENTER THE ROOM. Keep them on the stairs leading down to the final battle room. Once you enter the room, immediately leave (Just open to trigger to battle) and wait at the top of the stairs overlooking the door to enter. Have your bots beside you and the krogan will file in 1 at a time. The mech will not enter but once you you kill all the krogan just lean out by the door (Still outside) and chip the mech to death. Then chip the blue suns merc to death from behind cover.
There are all sort of tricks you can use to exploit the ai.
Miranda: I haven’t forgotten about our little chat. That is, if you’re still interested.
Shepard: Oh, I’m definitely interested.
Started a new Insanity run to try out a sentinel, oh man normal is a retards game compared to this, you really gotta be on top of everything at all times
I thought i’d rough it up and go for mordins recruitment with only miranda with warp to handle regens… that wasn’t my smartest move, considering at one point i had no medigel, both were dead, and all i have is throw, pistol and smg to handle all the rocket guys on the upper floors miles away, no idea how i managed that, haha
Messing with krogans up close is fun though, surprisingly
I’m thinking I’ll get Assault Rifle training for collector/geth rifles on my sentinel, for some sustained, mid-long range damage… mantis rifle is good but im pretty sure ill get owned by the ammo restrictions, plus garrus or zaeed can handle that better
