So while I was doing another playthrough of the game, I noticed something while I was talking to Aria T’Loak. I don’t know if this qualifies as a spoiler, but I’ll put the tags on anyway.
Aria’s past
[details=Spoiler]When you talk to Aria about her past, she talks about how she has been known by many names, used to be a mercenary, and that the Patriarch isn’t the first Krogan she has pissed off. More importantly, after you finish talking to her, she says, “Better luck next time.”
That suddenly made me remember about a conversation that you have with Wrex in the first game. If you talk to Wrex enough in the first game, he’ll talk about his rivalry with an Asari mercenary by the name of Aleena (or something like that, I can’t remember how you spell it). In short, Wrex had a shootout with the asari over a contract (Wrex protecting that person, while the asari was trying to kill him). I think Wrex finally cornered her after a few days, but right before he could finish her off, the facility they were at started to explode, so he left, thinking that the asari died in the explosion as well. But as he was leaving, he gets a message from Aleena saying, “Better luck next time.”
My question is this, does anyone think that Aria at Omega is actually the same asari that Wrex was talking about in the first game? Aria herself notes that she has been known by many names, that she has had beef with other Krogan before, and most importantly, she constantly uses the same “better luck” phrase that Wrex’s Aleena was using.[/details]
Haha, I replayed the first ME about a month or two ago to remember what happened in the game, so a lot of what went down in ME is still fresh in my head. That would be cool if I was right, hopefully we’ll find out in the next game. Aria is probably my favorite character in ME 2.
It’s weird, on my second playthrough as a renegade I couldn’t persuade them both, I had to choose one or the other, but I had over 90% renegade bar (I had way less than that when I passed the persuade check on paragon). Same with getting morinth, the wiki said I only needed 80% but I had 90, and I still couldn’t get that dialogue path.
I had the same thing happen to me. I had 100% renegade score, so I just talked to him after the fact, and regained his loyalty by saying i lied to Tali about not allowing transmissions.
The great thing about this game is that respecs are relatively inexpensive. This means that you can evolve the class skill into the one that only gives 70% Paragon/Renegade, and then when you know an important speech check is coming up, you can just respec into the one that gives 100%.
I didn’t notice, but I was actually playing dominate on hardcore (it was just a for fun build anyway). That might explain why things seemed a lot easier.
Do you really like reave, btw? Seems to me that warp ammo is superior for the infiltrator, as it’s more of a passive ability that can be used in conjunction with assassination cloak. Reave is an active ability, and thus you have to wait for the cool down in order to use cloak again.
I think shepard’s voice is awesome. He sounds like captain america, which makes it all the more hilarious when you push the -=R trigger.

^ has to be the best renegade option in the game, besides maybe accusing the souvenir store of discriminating against the poor. I’ve actually named my guy Dick Shepard, for obvious reasons.
No problem, happy to help. I pretty much felt the same way. I’m driving to Jax soon and then driving back a week later. I remember seeing the DP ads on XBL thinking I would need more of these road trips to justify raising DP stock, let alone my soda intake, as I’m enough of a ME whore I’d buy DP just to get a chance for a helmet. Thankfully CAG came through and saved me some time and money. Would love to hear DP and EA’s take on it, as since it hasn’t been shutdown I doubt they care, but you’d think they would at least authenticate the e-mail addresses. Win-win for the fans though.
Also, in case you went straight to ME2 like I did when I entered the codes, those same codes work for other games. Presumably they will work as long as the contest is going on which means you may even be able to redeem them for something like Bad Company 2 and other EA titles in the future, let alone current titles like The Sims, which seemed to be the most popular game being mentioned to use codes for. How they work with EA account tie in I have no clue though, so you may want to be more careful with what you take if there’s more than four items for other games.
I’ve heard some of the renegade/paragon options are unavailable unless you have the maxed out class skill also - i always max that out first so it would never affect me… but just something to keep in mind
Great observation skillz with Aria, makes sense too, nice work, it does seem like they put some extra effort into her character compared to alot of others, im guessing she’ll make some form of appearance in 3 since you can do alot of things to either help her or fuck her over
Are you guys playing on insane difficulty right off the bat or are you doing it with a new game + file?
I beat the game at level 30 using vanguard. Any idea of what i should do next? Use that ME2 file and go for insane difficulty? Or start a new game using a better class on insane difficulty?
I didn’t even get the romance achievement with my female shepard. Ill do it on a seprate file for completionists sake, but all my options suck to be honest. ugh. *
I got the Sentry Interface, which adds five percent to shield strength. I have a couple of armor pieces that add to shield strength. I play Infiltrator, so I mostly just have shield strength bonuses to protect me momentarily if the worst should happen.
Garrus was the least of the 3 evils, but I still had to turn him down at the end. He starts talking about ejaculation and basically says “hold up a minute lemme google how we do this” and killed the mood several times over. All of my characters but one from ME1 are femshep because I don’t care for the male Shepard’s voice actor much. Hes kind of monotone and its no fun to play Renegade with him at all. But I gotta bang Tali and with a guy is the only way to do it unfortunately.
Staying faithful to Liara with all my Femsheps cause shes turned out to be a badass, hopefully shes in ME3 more than she was in ME2.

Everytime I send Tali through the vents, she dies in the end. I’ve read from various sources that if she’s loyal, she won’t die. I have alos tried this with Legion, another suggested choice, but he dies as well. I should also mention that she is the only person that dies on the mission. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
