Keep in mind Disney and Marvel knew about Chadwick’s cancer for a while and even work with him on a plan should the worst happen.
This would explain why they set up shuri so prominently. She’s always good smart but not I’m Tony or banner smart
I support Shuri as the new Black Panther…
They more than likely recast Panther, unless they found time to film some scenes with Chadwick off schedule.
That going to be the reality of the Situation.
I’m down for Shuri. She could relate to the other reluctant heroes like Spidey, Wanda and Scott Lang while getting advice from the more seasoned veterans like Bucky, Falcon and Hawkeye
You could even go a step further and have Thor as her mentor. Thor thought himself unworthy of wielding the Mjölnir for years. Shuri would undoubtedly feel the same about the mantle of Black Panther
Did you see the fan comic of Spiderman not thinking he was a worthy successor to iron man while holding mew mew
I don’t see Shuri becoming the lead in the Black Panther film series. She’s too different from the ones of the comics too, she doesn’t seem to have a leader personality. Even Nakia would be better; I think Shuri will be fine sticking to her scientific stuff.
I’m pretty sure Shuri will have her own suit of armor, but I think there was a plan for that already anyway.
Yeah, because turning a psychopatic and racist villain into the hero for a complete ethnic group is a great idea…
T’Challa will be recast, I’m pretty sure. It’s the idea that makes the most sense in the marketing/branding/narrative aspects.
Black Panther II will be delayed until the time to mourn has passed, you’ll have Shuri and Okoye popping out here and there as Wakanda representatives but T’Challa won’t be dead. He will be recast with a new character after 4 to 5 years.
BP is already the hero for black people, it makes sense another guy from that race can pick up the mantle. Retiring the character would be like retiring James Bond only because the first guy who played him died. There are lots and lots of great black actors that can represent the community and honor the mantle. Anyone can be Black Panther.
And from the marketing/branding standpoint, you can’t have 5 years old dressing up as T’Challa and then a few years later have a lady instead, changing completely your marketing target audience.
There’s an image and a mythos they need to consolidate in people, and that is Black Panther as T’Challa, Prince of Africa and great leader of the black people. The character’s journey is not over.
Vegeta was an intergalactic serial killer before his face turn so…
Dragon Ball is not politically realistic.
Vegeta is also alive.
Not like anybody ever died and came back in Marvel before…
Didnt really work out for the role of Superman.
Christopher Reeves fucked it up for 20 odd years.
They been talking about bringing back killmonger for a few years. Plus people stay dead in marvel as good as dbz lol
It hasn’t happened yet in a movie though.
Lol yeah they did. Magical glove. Shit they even loopholed some deaths through time travel too
In a world with wizards, radiated behemoths, gods and purple titans that can erase half the universe, some human coming back to life is an issue
So what if she is? Aren’t You’re also the same dude who doesn’t like the current peter Parker because “he doesn’t act like peter Parker” even though he absolutely does. Sooooo…?
Not to mention your whole post was you repeating yourself about 4 times. Plus didn’t you say you liked age of apocalypse more than most mcu movies?
C’mon man.
MCU Shuri would be fine as BP.
MCU Shuri is definitely going for the “teenager geek” part, not the “spiritual leader” type, who she was in the comics. Could she change? Yeah, she could “evolve” as a character to become a very different type of inspiring figure, but that would take a big while.
In the meanwhile, it would completely change what the Black Panther represents. For the black audience, it was a conciliatory and positive political leader role figure. That’s the T’Challa character, that’s what he’s always represented in the comics and THAT’S what WORKED SO WELL for the black audience (and the audience in general) in cinema too.
That’s another reason why resurrecting Killmonger and then making him go a complete 180° would be so stupid (Vegeta never replaced Goku in the show either as the protagonist, nor as a leader or moral figure).
A positive leader as T’Challa was what black people needed. T’Challa’s journey must go on.
I don’t see anything wrong with this. What’s wrong with a strong black female lead? That can be just as inspirational.
Okaye, her husband and Mbaku can teach her to fight. As I mentioned she can lean on the reluctant and seasoned heroes for advice her countrymen and women don’t know the answer to, like how to be a hero or do T’challa proud.
She designed all the modern tech for wakanda. Her mother could and the council could teach her the politicking side.
You’d have all these amazing people lifting her up to be the best version of her she can be.
There’s a lot to work with. If it’s not the end all be all representation right off the bat that’s 100% okay.
She would be a perfect fit for the mantle.
I get the anti-hero redemption Killmonger approach too. but I also feel that kind of stuff is so overdone now. So I’d rather see Shuri.
