Marvel Studios | Hide Your Eyes, Hide Your Ears

Then the movie wouldn’t have a plot.

I had no issue with snap itself. My issue is the resolution. As soon as Thanos said he destroyed the gems I was like “fuck. Time travel” and was mad the rest of the movie. And them constantly establishing and breaking rules was infuriating to me.

Like usually when a movie ends it should be “man, I can’t wait to see what happens next!” Not “let’s see how they fix this” cause yeah, end game just ended with more questions than answers.

Sure they’ll “address them” in phase 4 but you can’t do the things they did in end game without fall out or ramifications. It just doesn’t work that way.

@hawkingbird they didn’t have to destroy the gems. I’m saying there are several ways they’ve stopped Thanos with the gauntlet and other gauntlet wielders without time travel. They could have simply wrote the movie differently. My issue is The gems being destroyed was a catalyst for the time travel. They shouldn’t have had Thanos destroy the gems in the first place. Yeah it makes “sense” why he did it so no one could undo what he did but it was still incredibly stupid imo.

LOL at Draw 4

No one was going to beat IG Thanos without cosmic interference anyway and with WAY more than just Danvers. That wasn’t going to happen, therefore this was the next logical choice.

Hard disagree. And you’ve already said you don’t care. You’re just happy you got your “moment” with the MCU being all in one place.

Summary

My happiness with the movie is irrelevant in this discussion. I’m just trying to paint out why time travel was required for you.

It is though because you’re just ignoring inconsistencies and plot holes because you got what you wanted.

And I get why they did it. I just don’t like it and don’t agree with it. It was an easy not to mention a lazy and bullshit conclusion to an 11 year, 22 movie build.

Time travel has always and will always be fucking stupid. Now they’re going to have to fix all the problems they made. Whether on purpose or not. It’s just going to make shit convoluted and dumb like time travel ALWAYS does.

I wouldn’t necessarily say so

Summary

Time travel is the most palatable but definitely not the only way. We have a former government assassin getting emails from a raccoon. Anything in this cinematic universe is on the table.

They did have to destroy the gems. The filmmakers put that idea in Infinity War when Wanda destroyed the mind stone to tried to prevent Thanos from getting it. It would be stupid for Thanos not to do that himself after he accomplished his goal. You want for the character to hold the idiot ball just to avoid using time travel.

Gems didn’t have to be destroyed. But since they were they picked an easy cop out.
Time travel is fucking lazy and inconsistent. Movie could have been resolved without it.

Could have but would have been way less fun in the process. I’m constantly glad so many people on the internet don’t work in creative fields.

Also dunno why you guys are debating with a dude who spent months convincing himself to dislike the movie before it even came out. I’m just glad his claims of not caring have shown to be completely false. Pretty predictabo but nice to see anyway.

Yes they did. The stones ain’t the dragonballs. They don’t spread themselves across the universe after they been used. Thanos would have been a fucking fool to allow the heroes a chance to undo his life’s work. Time Travel isn’t a cop out because it’s literally the only way for the story to move forward. There wasn’t no other magical macgriffen for the Avengers to look for to undo the snap, There was no deus ex machinas for them to find to undo it. It’s time travel or bust.

The laziest way solution would be what you and Stu propose as that would mean turning the villain into a massive moron and take the overall story into the safest route imaginable. I

Summary

Nah fuck that noise.

If you use time travel but can’t stick to your own established rules and make a bunch of shitty loopholes then you shouldn’t have used time travel.

Time travel has always been the laziest way to to tie up lose ends and 9.99 times out of 10 it fucking fails.

You have the fucking infinity stones for fucks sake. Time travel is the only way to fix everything? Lmao

but what if

Summary

Dormammu comes back to bargain? So Thanos essentially destroyed the universe based on the Ancient One stating that without the stones, they cannot defeat evil within their realm.

Again, all Marvel has to do is not address it and we’d be none the wiser.

Didn’t Cap return the Time stone to her?
And who cares what happens in all the other universes/timelines, the movie only focuses on the main one.

Nothing was broken though. They managed to undo Thanos damage and created a bunch of alternate timelines in the process. The established rules make it clear they couldn’t change shit by just changing the past. Which rules were broken exactly?

He did but the main timeline got no stones. What will keep Dormammu at bay when he comes knocking?

Yes however

Remember, Thanos destroyed all of them in the main timeline. Meaning that Earth is vulnerable

OOooooo Yea correct Earth IS vulnerable.
They will hopefully answer that question when Baron Mordo comes back in the next Dr. Strange movie.

Man I love comic movies, always a new threat to deal with and it’s interesting to see how the writers will deal with it.
