Marvel Comics Thread

You never thought you’d say that about Brand New Day? Really? Really? What about the time you saw, who was it, Dan Slott? And gave him a shout-out like a fangirl about to throw her panties off?

Sano wears panties just in case he has to throw them.

That’s what I figured, but thanks for the confirmation.

Never thought I’d say it and mean it?

Well all I said was “DAN SLOTT! BRAND NEW DAY!” at the NY Comic Con while I was walking by and it made the guy real happy. He was all like - “You see that right there, Brand New Day! The fans love it!” - to the person he was having a OMD/BND concersation with. Ah well, always liked Avengers Initiative and his She-Hulk.

Don’t know why I said it, I guess it’s hard for me to be an angry fanboy in real life. I saw one girl go bat crazy at Didio because they were canceling Catwoman. I dunno, it was funny I guess, but Catwoman still got canceled. :looney:

And hey, in a crazy Alan Moore’s From Hell “All time exists in the same time” theory it may have been the Sano that just read New Ways To Die influencing Sano of the past. Or I will see Slott once again and say “DAN SLOTT! BRAND NEW DAY!” and history really will be repeating itself over and over again… :wonder:

lol, gonna watch Next Avengers animated movie later on, will comment on if it is worth ur money or not :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and there’s a Ghost Rider annual coming out soon written by SIMON SPURRIER, hope it’ll be good.

i have a feeling it isnt.

I think you’re just afraid of catching the Gay. C&DP was awesome.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask you knowledgeable cats a question.
If I were to subscribe to one X-Men comic, which would be best? I’m guessing it’s a tossup between Ultimate and Astonishing, right? I hear in Astonishing, they gave Cyclops something called a “personality.” If that’s true, then…then that really is fucking astonishing.

Nah man get X-Men Legacy. Mike Carey FTW.

They’re all good books though. I just really like Mike Carey’s X-Men.

Between those two choices, I’d say go with Astonishing.

Whedon left Astonishing so IMHO you are probably better off reading his run in TPBs and catching up before you jump into the newer books. But the new Ellis and Bianchi team just started, it’s a good point to jump right in too. I still think you are better off reading Whedon’s legendary run at some point.

Cosign on Legacy, but also try to subscribe to X-Force as well that book is just TOO good.

X-Men Legacy, huh? That sounds hot, I’ll look into it. X-Men Legacy and X-Force…I’ll hop right on that shit. Thanks, you guys!

Make sure to read X-men Messiah Complex before you jump on legacy and x-force

^Yeah, you might want to get that one first, cuz both series take place AFTER MC, and is a lot more easier to understand after reading that.

So, how long will it take me to catch up with current events?

the messiah complex trade will probably help you out.

Did they ever touch base with the X-Factor guy that went undercover as a Purifier?

For a way to catch up and just the bare essentials man just pick up the FREE Marvel Universe Saga book, see if your comic shop has it. For the rest, the first page of every Marvel comic gives you a description of everything you need to know.

But yeah reading Messiah Complex is another way to go, you should be good.

IMO not really if you want to know more about Rictor I suggest to pick up Vol.1 & 2 of X-factor

Rictor

Spoiler

I think they got him out when the New X-Men attacked. He is out and I think still in X-Factor.

I think Marvel’s problem with limited series or big events is there are never legs midway or a satisfying enough conclusion. I’m basing this on Messiah Complex, Civil War, World War Hulk and what I’ve read so far of Secret War. They all tie in pretty well…but it always feels like they run too long or the climax is anti-climatic.

This week…so far Amazing Spiderman was pretty good.

I thought Thunderbolts was decent.

I agree the X-Men Legacy seems to be the best book…followed by X-Force (not liking the Brubaker Uncanny and Ellis Astonishing is too early to form a judgment).
