Marvel Comics Thread

You could jump on Uncanny but it isn’t exactly stellar right now. X-Men Legacy is indeed dope, but if are new to X-Men comics and their history it might be over your head. Astonishing X-Men might be the nearest middle ground for you.

X-Force is a fairly recent book that is somewhat newbie friendly and X-Factor isn’t usually that hard to get into either.

Yeah X-Men Legacy and X-Force are good X series to get into ATM.

Skrulls vs. Power Pack #2 was nice, looks like someone watched Wall-E one too many times

millar is kick ass

Edit : found a pic on cbr. i’m the one with the red/blue striped jersey

Enjoyed Captain America 41. Next issue is when a lot of things happen.

Also liked Amazing Spiderman. I prefer when Slott is writing the arc versus whoever else. Also glad to see JRJR back on board. There are a lot of subplots running in the book right now with Menace, Negative Man, Freak, Harry, Thunderbolts and Eddie Brock.

Not liking the Uncanny X-Men right now. Legacy seems a bit better but far fetched (the last Mister Sinster Arc).

And I guess I should read Ghost Rider 24 (read 25 and 26).

mclovin is gonna kick ass

Hey good to meet you! Rocking the Spider-Man colors I see!

And I also dig New Ways to Die. I swear it seems like BND has been one big filler arc until now. I probably won’t stay on the book after JRjr leaves though, but I’m in it for the next 5 issues. Ha ha what was Harry doing on the roof, signaling Menace or something? :wonder:

I’m the blurry dude with the blue backpack staring lustfully at the sexy rack of comics.

Millar and Harris were great. Good thing we got there early and didn’t have to wait in line much. Harris drew me a cool picture of his Batman in the inside cover of my JSA: The Liberty File TRADE, BABY. Extremely groovy. But I don’t have a camera so I have no evidence to present to you, SRK. He also signed my copy of Ex MAAAAAAAAACHINA!!!1 #1 that BKV signed a couple years ago… Had a good laugh about what Vaughan wrote for me, too. ("‘Machina’ pronounced with a ‘k,’ bitch! Thank you for knowing the score!")

Millar signed both of my Ultimates HCs. He was also very friendly. Most of the creators I’ve met at Isotope have been friendly, but Millar kind of stood out. He seemed really at ease with people and made jokes and conversation. I told him I’ve been reading his Swamp Thing run (huh? what? is this a marvel thread?). He had some fond memories of some of those issues and we chatted a few minutes about Curt “Superman” Swan, whose last work before he passed away was an issue of Millar’s Swamp Thing. (Millar said Swan was uncomfortable with a lot of the stuff in his script, because there was stuff like drug use, slapping women, racism, etc. Maybe about two weeks after he drew the issue, he passed away. Millar said he feels guilty because his script might’ve had a hand in Curt Swan’s death.)

You look just like The Question, I knew it. :smokin:

A Batman sketch huh? Cool.

sorry for the noob question but is Earth-X a good read? i was thinking of buying it but im not sure.

Yeah it’s really good. It’s like the Marvel Universe version of DC’s Kingdom Come. My favorite futures in the Earth-X/Universe-X/Paradise-X world are what becomes of Nightcrawler, Galactus and Spider-Man without giving away too much. A pretty cool universe all around.

alright thanks alot. i’ll definitely have to order it off of amazon, cus i think that’d be the cheapest way to buy it.

well I picked up uncanny x-men #500 and Wolverine orgins #27, looks like in x-men magneto is getting into some shenanigans ^.~

Also I noticed the store had gotten the book marvel zombies #2 so i’ll be picking that up soon as well ^.^

Also can’t wait till next month new deadpool series, I wish they would have not stoped cable and deadpool, they made a good team

PROMOTE THIS MAN!

Aaron on Ghost Rider is the shiznitobam.

^Spread the hype homie!
Oh and Skaar #3 was good this time, try to pick it up

Skaar #3

Spoiler

Skaar: “Fuck your prophet”

Some good stuff from Marvel recently-

Avengers Initiative #16 was very good

[details=Spoiler]
3DMan joins the Skrull Kill Krew, we get some info on the original 3DMan and the SKK and then the team goes on a Skrull Hunt.
Back at Camp Hammond, War Machine receives recorded information from Ironman in case Tony died. The recorded feedback can only be heard by Rhodes, and it tells Rhodes to go a certain location which is his highest priority in the situation.
SkrullJacket makes the stupid mistake of actually saying that he heard Tony’s recording!
Rhodes leaves Camp Hammond, while Skrulljacket tries to put everything under control for the Avengers.
GIAntman follows Skrulljacket and discovers his true identity.
Meanwhile, 3DMan, Riot and & Ryder meet up with Komodo’s team. 3DMan confirms that only one of her team members is a Skrull and they all take him down. Komodo tells them that their next destination is Vegas.
A good issue with good dialog (minus the Star Wars thing), good action and some good humor.[/details]

B. Panther #40 was also great!

Spoiler

An all action issue! Most of it is taken up by a fight between Panther and a Super Skrull, but ends with the Skrulls capturing Storm and subduing Panther!

Runaways Vol. 3 #1, a good start for the series’ ‘reboot’-

[details=Spoiler]The issue begins with people from Karolina’s planet looking for her. It seems their planet was destroyed/overrun or such and can’t go back and want Karolina for a connected purpose.
The gang find a new home at a Malibu place the Pride had prepaired in case of an emergency. The gang had to fight its security systems first before being able to use the place.
The next day the gang go shopping (with what cash they had) and an incident occurs which forced Karla to use her powers to save a radio director who fell from a high floor.
Issue ends with the people from Karolina’s planet arriving at their Malibu hideout.[/details]

Angel Revelations #4 was good as well-

[details=Spoiler]So they get rid of the perverted priest in a very good dramatic way. Start of their new semester, Warren and his friend get into a fight then he, his friend, the jock and Warren’s ex-girlfriend get detention.
During one of their detentions, the building they are in is set in fire by the guy that’s been going around killing mutants/disfigured people.
Prof. X communicates into Warren’s mind and tells him of the situation.
Warren uses his wings to save his friends and in the next issue he will fight off the mutant killer.[/details]

New Avengers 44 was pretty dull

[details=Spoiler]So we see the progress of the Skrulls as they try to perfect their duplication of the heroes. One of the scientists concludes that by copying Reed they can find a way to cloak themselves against detection.
After numerous experiments, they seem to have found a way thru it.
Next time; House of M![/details]

Mighty Avengers 17 was pretty good IMO

[details=Spoiler]Well the Hank Pym plot hole is kinda fixed in this one…whatever that is.
Apparently the impersonating Skrull had info he wanted to pass on to their Queen about how their Invasion won’t work and that he wants it stop/pause til they can work things thru. He informs another Skrull who is impersonating Dugan. After he tells Dugan Skrull his say and Dugan not taking his information seriously, Skrulljacket retaliates and fights the Skrulls that came with Dugan but dies in the process.
Issue ends showing a replacement for the previous Skrulljacket who is the one we saw in Might Avengers’ first arc.[/details]

Nova #16

[details=Spoiler]Nova responds to a distress call on a planet. As he is helping out survivors, some of them revert to Skrull form and attack him. …but he’s saved by Kl’rt! Kl’rt explains what has happened to him and how he joined the Skrull’s new invasion. He convinces Rider to take him along to take down the Skrulls. They both arrive at Earth’s orbit only to be met by the Invasion’s fleet and Kl’rt betrays Rider!
This issue was very good but I HATED the quick give-away of Kl’rt smiling which made me doubt him
Another good issue, but I still don’t see why they have to take down Rider, he could be busy with other stuff and may not know about the Invasion til it is too late[/details]

Thunderbolts 123, WTF?!?!

[details=Spoiler]WTFing?! The same scene from SI #5 happens here, talk about lame!
Still…THIS IS AN AWESOME ISSUE!
Norman and co. go to DC to stop the Skrulls there, we get some good action and massacre and…betrayals? Moonstone takes down Swordman in order to help the Skrulls in hopes of getting something in return, while Bullseye goes on his killing spree.
Issue ends with Norman going Goblin!
Started bad but ended very well![/details]

X-Men 215 was TOO good!

[details=Spoiler]A lot happens in this issue-
Xavier goes to the Xavier Institute to find it in rubbles, he then uses his psychic powers to bring Scott to him so he can have a talk with him. Glad to see Scott doesn’t hold any more grudges against Xavier anymore.
Meanwhile, Rogue goes to Australia to their former X-Men base/Xavier institute.
Later on the, the Hellfire club hold a meeting. It seems Sunspot has defect and has left the Club in a disarray. Shaw suggest that the Club plan for a ‘war’…
Back to Xavier and Scott, it seems Sinister did a similar thing to Scott like what he had done to Xavier when he was a child.
Cut to Australia as Rouge recalls her memories with the X-Men, and her solitude is later interrupted by Mystique…or is it? I don’t remember what happened to Mystique recently but it seems that Mystique’s psyche is now with Rouge.
Back to Scott and Xavier, when Xavier realizes that their discussion isn’t going anywhere, he tries to leave…only to realize that he and Scott are trapped in an illusion by Emma![/details]

X-Force 6is too fucking good[/spoiler

[details=Spoiler]More blood, slaughter and good action! X-23 manages to kill Risman and Proudstar kills Eli who apparently is a vampire/undead.
Archangel makes waste of the purifiers, but Bastion escapes after fighting Logan and analyzing that he can’t beat him! Freaking coward!
In the end, the Purifiers Logan and co. went after were all decimated and Warren reverts to his Angel form.
Rahne comes back to her senses but seems to have mental problems from her encounter with her ‘father’.
After Logan reports to Cyke on what happened, Cyke show Logan a screen with 9 people; 7 are the ones Bastion resurrected along with Bastion and Risman with an X on to state he’s been terminated.
Cyke asks Logan: “Who’s next?”[/details]

Son of Skaar and X-Men Legacy were indeed awesome this week, but my favorite comic of the week was Amazing Spider-Man. Wow, never thought I’d say that about BND. :shy:

Oh, this week Marvel’s offering a FREE Marvel Saga comic that helps you catch up on the important events that have happened in Marvel comics all the way from about Avengers Disassembled to right now. And some up to date Marvel Universe bios like one on Bucky Barnes Captain America. So pick it up if your way behind on Marvel events, a new reader, or heck just get it anyway because it’s FREE!

Excellent, will see if I can get that one :china:

There is also a daredevil brubaker saga free comic too

Ewwww no. Cable “dying” was the only reason I started deadpool again. If it’s deadpool it’s gotta be solo for me. With a supporting cast of course. I loathe cable.
