Marvel Comics Thread

The problem with that is Priest didnt really follow continuity and he even admitted on his site. But none taken really.

I agree and it doesnt make any sense at times. Readers are smarter than ever and they think they can do these changes without someone noticing.

Off topic
But oh why is comicbookresources is full of uber strict mods? Dayum i called a dude a fucking idiot and im banned for 3 days? :lame:

You guys hear about the Secret Wars II Onmibus? http://reggieblogged.blogspot.com/2008/07/secret-wars-ii-omnibus-is-coming.html

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=17106
YES…Blade is joining up with Captain Britain and MI:13 to fight some skrulls among other things

Since nobody goes the skrull thread i’ll post it here:
Secret Invasion #4

SI

[details=Spoiler]The issue opens with stretched-out Reed Richards imprisoned on the Skrull ship, with Queen Veranke narrating a bit villain monologue about how awesome the Skrulls are and how they’ve totally won. This monologue continues through the following scenes:

  • Agent Brand sneaking on the Skrull ship (as seen in Who Do You Trust?).
  • The Sentry fleeing into space.
  • Ms. Marvel arriving in New York.
  • A big battle pitting the Commandos against the Skrull invasion force; the Commandos win, and head off to do something else. The climax of Veranke’s monologue is about trust and how the heroes don’t have it, as illustrated when Nick shoots Ms. Marvel with his big gun, resulting in her being captured by the Skrulls! Oops.
  • In the Savage Land, Vernake wraps up her “you’re a Skrull” monologue as Black Widow sneaks up; she’s about to pump Veranke full of sweet hot lead, but the sudden appearances of Skrull Jean and Skrull Hank give her away; she kills them, but when she turns around Veranke has fled. She convinces Tony, who’s suffering from mildly delusion because of the infection of the Skrulls, that he isn’t a Skrull. Wolverine arrives, and Natasha shoots him too, before Wolverine gasps out their codeword (“carrot sticks”). Natasha tells Wolverine to go look for Spider-Woman and kill her, while Tony plots to finish his new armour and then go find Reed Richards.

  • Brand sneaks her way around the ship, finds the monitor room and sees images of the invasion (sheeding a single Indian tear, ala that old environment ad), and then two Skrulls bumble in and spot her.

  • On the Helicarrier, Skrull Jarvis tells Hill that they put her in charge so that they’d surrender when the time came, and reveals that most of the agents she brought to surround him are also Skrulls. Skrull Jarvis reiterates his desire for her to surrender.

  • The Hood and his chief minions (Chemistro, Madame Masque, etc.) decide that “no more Earth is bad for business”, and put out the call to all their men.

  • In my favourite scene of the issue, the final two pages, a group of civilians are fleeing the invading Skrulls, when suddenly the Skrull platoon are ventilated by lightning. The shadowed figure of Thor appears in the sky, while, in the distance, a man carrying a shield scopes out Thor with his binoculars.

Now i’m definitely digging the fact that FINALLY the villians figure that if Earth gets taken over that they are in essence fucked. But i was really expecting Doom to lead the villian uprising but the Hood will do just fine.[/details]

A good number of my new favorite books came out this week.

Captain Britian & M13 and Guardians of the Galaxy

[details=Spoiler]
GothG: There is another cacoon and one of the team gets burnt up VERY badly.

CapBrit & co: Merlin makes a come back and so does the title character. Also Super Skrull fusion of every Marvel character is somewhat dope. [/details]

Haven’t read my copy of Eternals but from skim I did before, it looks like not to much occurs. Also WTF is up with Marvel making the Squadron Supreme relaunch being made into a 5 issue mini?

CB&M13

Spoiler

Captain Britain coming back with a new costume and Excalibur and bringing the Dr. Strange Skrull to its knees was awesome.

I don’t have much fondness for the '80s Secret Wars/Secret Wars II comics. They have aged horribly and just feel too silly and unreadable now.

…Does that mean that Captain America: White will turn out good? Maybe I should get it tomorrow and check it out…

Yeah let us know.

By the way who cares about Secret Invasion 4? SRK member ReggieHadoken got a letter printed this week in Spider-Girl, go read that instead!

Nah Secret Invasion was dope like always. Skrulls gonna catch a GGPO in 30.

Wow, FF4 558 was really good!

SI #4 like Sano said was dope Fury and gang doing a hit n’ run FTW
and the ending… pure gold

Hit n’ run while also grabbing random Initiative people for his own private army.

Dancing Bendis WTF… check the vid. :looney:

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=92159514&blogID=413993132

I just noticed it yesterday. Bendis is basically determining the MU right now. Yes im late but man

What are the latest/most current events going on in Marvel right now?

I’m still reading Civil War and I was wondering what was next to read.

Planet Hulk and and Cable & DeadPool. Oh and Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest followed by Nova. Ghost Rider is kickass as well.

I just looked at a couple of episode of the animated silver sufer. Hmm a decent show so far. Too bad it didnt finish

You haven’t gotten up to the part where Thanos worships a freaking statue named “Lady Chaos” that looks nothing like Death because oh nooos heaven forbid Thanos worships Death on a Saturday Morning Cartoon. I hate Fox… :annoy:

Other than that, it was fine. Kind of annoyed they took the Fantastic Four out of his origin, when they showed his origin on the Fantastic Four cartoon like a season before. They should of just rolled with that. But ah well… Was quite a few years ago…

Ghost Rider 25

[details=Spoiler]So the old guy explains what happened to him, and GR learns that Zadakeil is after the Spirits of Vengenace. As such GR doesn’t need to find Zadakiel he’ll get to Zadakiel eventually.

We get a pretty good fight this ish wherein GR shows just how powerful the Bible is in the right hands. The issue ends with GR Stare-ing at some convicts and leaving the prison.

Again a kickass issue from the team![/details]

IronMan 31

[details=Spoiler]Tony manages to reboot his armor via Extremis and goes to fight off the Overkill weapon. Dugan’s Flying Commandos didn’t manage to do much, the Overkill’s about to launch nukes and Tony, now trapped inside the weapon needs to find a way to shut it down.
Mostly drama with a little action but it was enjoyable. War Machine should be in the title in a couple of issues I hear.[/details]

Mighty Avengers 16

[details=Spoiler]We learn what happens to Elektra; after being revived by the Hand, months later the Skrulls attack her, but she doesn’t go down without a fight!
I heard there were inconsistencies with stuff that were stated about Elektra in previous series linked to SI, but I don’t give a fuck about them.
Good issue overall. Next month more Hank Pym, ugh[/details]

BTW the title of this book is sooooooooooooooooo misleading…

Herc 119

[details=Spoiler]OK, so Kirby was a Skrull. Herc and co. fight off against some monsters/gods and Snowbirds gets MIA. They finally make it to the Skrull god who is apparently ‘He’.
Still I can’t shake off the feeling that Loki has a hand in this[/details]

Marvel 1985 #3

[details=Spoiler]A lot of Marvel villians show up and start screwing up the place; killing people, thefts, etc.

We also get a flashback at the start of the issue, tho the only thing it kinda shows is how Toby’s dad WAS into comics (I don’t think the previous issues showed him having an interest in them til his son gave him some series).

Issue ends with The Lizard attacking Toby and his dad.

A pretty cool issue, the last two’ll def. have the heroes show up, beat the bad guys and explanin WTF happened.

BTW is it me or is Mole Man a pedo in this ish?[/details]

CAP #40

[details=Spoiler] So bucky rumble with the Grand Dictactor and its a pretty cool fight since Bucky is alot slower and weaker than the fake but i was realy rooting for Bucky he realy beacame a favorite of mine
also Skull and the other clowns are watching the fight and they mention zola need to figure out a Doom device’, Von Doom device
Sharon Carter and sin are also fighting and in the end Sharon gets a knife in her stomach probaly killing the baby which realy pisses Red Skull off and giving an angry daddy slap to his little girl
Overall superb issue[/details]
