I really liked the art in eternals 1 but story wise it’s pretty meh skaar was pretty cool though.
Newest Issue from Thunderbolts this week raps up the whole Thunderbolt mountain fiasco
thunderbolt
Spoiler
Bullseye recovers from his paralysis through nanomachines and kills off the psychics in the jail cells with a scalpel. Basically at the end of the issue, Songbird is made team leader and is able to call the shots on who can be on the team. Norman Osborn ends the issue remarking on how Songbird may have been the one to have gotten Bullseye killed on purpose.
^
Yep, weird that this is the final issue of Ellis’ run, I’d figure he’d try to go for something more dangerous, but I guess given the run’s popularity they aren’t going to mess with it to greatly.
Thunderbolts 121 Green goblin supplied another epic quote
"Nature little joke giving a woman the super power of not being able to shut up"
So is Norman “Normal” now? Or does he have fits where the Goblin persona comes out? I haven’t followed the current T-Bolts run, and from what I hear it’s amazing so I might have to get in in trade.
well

Spoiler
He’s playing it off like the psychics made him do all those killings but Songbird wasn’t buying it hence why she basically TOLD him to make her team leader or else.
great as usual. i just hope it stays this good after they leave.
Cool, cool. I saw some artwork for this and I plan to pick up the T-bolts starting with the Civil War trade. I need some Baron Zemo currently lol.
Kinda off-topic but kinda not…
The Captain America movie and the Thor movie will be out in 2011, as will the Avengers movie (or The Ultimates, whichever they decide to go with). The two movies will be out before the Avengers movie because the stories of them and the Hulk and Iron Man movies from this year have to do with the Avengers movie.
And I think they will be great. Expect a comics run of the storylines of either the single heroes or the full Avengers team that explains events before and after the movies, around that time.
Agreed because the dumb hulk thing isnt working anymore.
That’s what I don’t understand, they spend the better part of a year evolving the simple Hulk in “Planet Hulk”. Then they give a plausible reason to go back to Earth and get to smashing, then once the event is over make him “Dumb as a sack of bricks” Hulk again.
Doesn’t everything that came before that seem like a waste now in comparison?
I still remember when this issue was solicited as the first part of a story arc. Fraction did a great job setting up a new status quo but I really hate that he and Bru didn’t really get to set up a finale for the book so much as they dashed off to work on Uncanny X-Men.
Yep i agree it is a waste. i doubt the laser hit hulk head that hard in WWH. I wanted to give this new hulk book a chance but just like for spiderman they are going backwards.
I wonder why Marvel is taking one step forward and two steps back lately, is it “Reboot the origins” time already?
Anyone read the SI Home Invasion issues? They don’t look important to me…
With the surge of Marvel and superheroes in other media, Marvel is trying to define the classic molds their characters. Also certain writers (especially Loeb) and editorial powers just prefer reading classic molds of characters and try to use them more often then letting or precieving growth.
It has happened to Johnny Storm with every writer, now the whole universe is on a similar tip if things changed.
Wish they would let us, the readers, decide for a change. I guess when comic sells start dropping they’ll change quick. I need to break into the industry and start rolling some heads
Hulk is one of those character that has to be dumb, locked up or Dead while on earth…He’s just to powerful to have hanging around. I really expected this 100% while planet hulk was going on.
Long as hulk is on earth 9 times outta 10 he just gonna be smashing.
edit: I dont know if anyon is keeping up with all things x-men but man this professor X stuff is so random. But not random enough where it doesnt make sense. I kinda wish they would just really kill him, his time is over.
So what’re ur thoughts on the Evil Illuminati?
Loeb not paying attention to previous storylines? The hell you say… COUGH COUGH ULTIMATES COUGH HIS WOLVERINE ARC COUGH
Some writers can play the continuity game like Slott, Bru, Peter David, Pak, a few more names and some can’t or don’t wish to. Loeb’s in the later category. I suppose he’s not Hudlin who really doesn’t care (nothing against BP fans of course).
It’s kind of how JQ runs Marvel nowadays. Hmm maybe there are more players but he’s the one we hear from the most. His whole thing is that everyone tells good stories and they’ll worry about continuity issues later - it will be explained in a Marvel Universe book or be explained in the comic book much much MUCH later - BND. It’s something which JQ calls being a “Continuity Cop” and he doesn’t really care for much or will delay playing ‘cop’ for as long as humanly possible…
Continuity only really comes to play when big crossovers happen IE so Marvel can make more money.
Even with all that, there are still writers that can play the continuity game and tell great stories. And some can tell great stories without playing that game so a lot of things are excusable so long as we get great stories because that’s what it’s all about.
Then there’s Bendis who knows continuity some what (benefit of the doubt button pressed here…) but will change it on the fly. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes that’s bad, but he’s still a great writer. Not sure why he of all of their writers has that much freaking power at Marvel though…
Loeb isn’t really a great writer IMHO and that’s a big freaking difference. Loeb needs to go back to DC and never ever EVER work without Tim Sale… :crybaby:
LOL at a recent Cup O’ Joe entry when a fan asked JQ when Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men arc took place and he said before Messiah Complex. How freaking vague can you get? Gotta love JQ.
Kind of related and not sure if I’m going off on a tangent, again - but honestly I’m a bit tired at Marvel’s trend of screwing their heroes over and over again. I think they are taking the whole “Heroes With Feet Of Clay” thing too far nowadays. But there are still several Marvel books I enjoy I suppose.
