Yeah, BND sucks hella lot! I mean, we all know they should’ve just copy/pasted Bendis’ entire run on Daredevil and changed the names. Or he could’ve totally fought a new Sinister Six. That would’ve been awesome.
well i guess they are forcing all of this spiderman crap to make it seem that BND is selling well.
BND is selling well though. 80,000 an issue just about. There’s a drop off, it looses about 1,000 copies an issue, but it’s still pulling 240,000 a month with the three titles. With the old model, ASM, FNSM and Sensational, it was making about 180,000 a month. 80,000 for ASM and 50,000 a piece for the other titles. So with the current 1,000 an issue drop off (rough estimate) they will still make more money than the old model for the rest of the year.
All of the above numbers are based on pre-orders performed 3 months in advance and store bought copies, IE copies stores buy and not the ones you yourself purchase on Wednesday. But just about everything including video games and so on is measured in such a way. It won’t be until June until we see how BND is really doing (well, July when we get June’s numbers). If there is a major drop off, stores order and people pre-order a lot less copies than that’s where you’re gonna see it.
All that being said I see a lot of copies of BND in stores not moving, but I haven’t traveled all around the United States and like I said, sales are never measured that way. Those stores bought all of those copies = BND is selling. That’s how these things work. They have to reduce orders accordingly and that takes time. And lately I’ve seen BND flying off the shelves just a little better, seems like it’s slowly gaining ground, but it’s hard to say.
Long story short, Spider-Man is most def staying single for the rest of '08. Beyond that, who knows. I’m sure you know Marvel is in no hurry to marry him off again and if things really go bad they will probably grit their teeth and bare it for a while. Though who really knows.
Well, I’ll be getting the BND hardcover tomorrow that covers the first three months because it also has Dan Slott’s unpublished '95 Venom story, D’OH I lose out to my Eddie Brock man-crush. At least I’ll have a better opinion of BND other than the few pages I read in store. Oh and purchasing TPBs and hardcovers has nothing to do with whether or not a title continues or ends and doesn’t add to the above numbers, they measure everything by comic book sales.
I’m still a traitor though… Eh pretty hard for me to stay away from Spider-Man forever, I guess… I’ve technically missed over twelve issues which is about a year’s worth, so that’s still a pretty long boycott for me…
Don’t feel bad, Sano
We all know that whatever would’ve come after OMD if it didn’t happen wouldn’t be nearly as good as what’s happened so far.
So anyone else read Sky Doll? I personally find it interesting even tho it has…FURRIES!
Still I love the art direction.
“you didnt have a mother!”
“a pig coughed and you fell out”
holy lmao
…and this gentlemen is why I oh-so dislike Marvel’s Ultimate series-

Don’t necessarily see anything wrong with the Ultimate Omega Flight. Look kick ass to me.
Anyways review roundup:
Mighty Avengers #14
Spoiler
So this issue basically breaks down the skrulls plan for the Sentry from the time of New Avengers Breakout to a little after Secret Invasion #2 where the Skrulls invade New York. Basically the skrulls have a meeting somewhere in an abandoned warehouse talking about how to deal with the Sentry. They know they can’t duplicate his powers since they don’t know the extent to how strong he is but they do know he a big threat. So we then cut to Skrull jarvis who manages to get some information about the Sentry from the Avengers computer(on a sidenote it seems the skrull that impersonated Jarvis was around during the forming of the New Avengers). Anyways, Skrull Jarvis points out to the others that transforming as the Void would be beneficial and throw the Sentry off. Cut to the Secret Invasion fight with Skrull Vision transforming into the Void, we see the Sentry freaking out and flying out to space as far as Saturn and breaking down crying. We then see the Young Avengers fighting the Super Skrulls that landed in New York and we see one of the Skrulls go to the Avengers tower attempting to kidnap Sentry’s wife when all of sudden we see a shadow figure punching the Skrull. And what do you know, Its the Void coming in the save the day to protect Linda
Captain America #38
Spoiler
Cap and Falcon take out another of the Skulls hideouts to find out what he’s up to. Meanwhile we find out the “Steve Rogers” in the containment unit that Sharon found at the end of last issue was the Grand Director. Apparently Faustus manages to do some plastic surgery on him to make him look like Steve and also brainwash him to think he’s the real deal Captain America. At the end of the issue, Faustus tells him that the Bucky Captain America killed his sidekick “Bucky”.
…and this is why I hardly buy comics anymore. That Vindicator is fucking L.O.L. - horrible design. What’s with the red police lights on his arms?
Cmon. You know the character was going to be nothing but a joke the second they kept him a Canadian! AMIRITE?!?!?!?!
Wow…Marvel is working on OG Venom, or are they going to shit on Eddie Brock some more?
Naw Eddie still has cancer but people are speculating he could be that anti-venom character in the upcoming story arc. At any rate I still like Mac Gargan Venom over Eddie Brock.
Ultimate Omega flight looks great to me besides vindicator.
I just finish reading Gen Next and I must say it has potential. I actually liked the 1st issue, its cool seeing kids from some of your favorite hero’s. Storm’s kid looks sweet!

But no, seriously? I love this issue. I’m a closet Sentry fan…so an issue dedicated to him is noice. It makes the important revelation, though, that the skrull ship did, indeed, have non-sleeper skrulls on the ship in the Savage Land. Initially, I thought that there were gonna be a whole bunch of sleeper skrulls on that ship, but obviously, this isn’t the case.[/details]
Read the first 2 arcs of BND via the hardcover that came out today. I gotta admit that both of the stories were enjoyable and well written. Am I upset about the loss of the marriage? Sure. Could the stories still have been told with the marriage in place more or less? Yep. Do I wish it made any kind of sense in terms of continuity? You bet. Was it better than PAD’s run on Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man? Nope. But it wasn’t bad or anything, all of that aside the stories themselves were fun and so were the new villains. I’ll probably just go the hardcover route from now on for Spider-Man, hopefully Marvel will keep putting them out.
first you approve of mk vs dc. now you like BND? traitor
It’s DC in a fighting game and it’s online, how bad could it be? No one has to pick Mortal Kombat characters, I know I won’t.
I aim to please. At least now I don’t feel like a liar when I yelled out to Dan Slott at the NY Comic Con “DAN SLOTT! BRAND NEW DAY!” and he told the person he was talking too that I was a fan of the book at the time, when I haven’t read any of it, just being nice to the guy. So now I don’t hate it as much, so I wasn’t lying, I was just being psychic. Future Sano gives Past Sano a high five. Skrull Sano wonders what the hell is going on. My shrink wants to discuss my multiple personality disorder.
Sorry I didn’t give BND a hatefull review, alls I can do is call it like I see it. Faaaar better than the Spidey Mackie reboot where they tried to achieve the same thing by killing MJ…
I knew you’d come around.
The Wells/Bachalo arc is really good too.
ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
But yeah, you can only resist the lure of (good) stories that, quite simply, couldn’t have been done with MJ as Spidey’s ball and chain, in every possible way (bitch is holding him back!). Like I says, if I want a guy with an outed identity trying to cope, I’ll re-read Bendis’ Daredevil (again…cuz I actually read that shit earlier today!).
there’s plans for a Runaways movie. Written by BKV himself :woot:
He wrote some great LOST episodes so yeah .
Oh and I beat Chairhome to posting the news. You’re getting slow old man.
