Marvel Comics Thread

Not buying BND because I don’t wish to support Marvel’s OMD retcon maneuver but I read some of it in store.

Despite me not liking unmarried Spider-Man it’s decent.

Some minor gripes I have, like I don’t care for cursing in Marvel comics really and I hate it even more in Spider-Man. Maybe because I grew up reading Spidey, I dunno. Even if it’s just *&^%%! it still kind of urks me. Whoa too much too soon to have Spidey making out with a Girls Gone Wild slut. That Civil War explanation makes zero sense.

Again, BND is decent and my complaints are fairly minor. Slott’s proven himself over and over again writing comics so I’m sure bigger and better things are on the way, ditto for the other 2 writers. The artwork is gorgeous. I just don’t like the premise or being forced to buy the book 3 times a month since it’s a move I don’t like on Marvel’s part.

Buying Spider-Girl and reading Stan Lee’s strip instead so I can still get my married Spider-Man on lol! I’m in serious denial. For me the last issue of Sensational Spider-Man where God told Pete to let it go, Aunt May croaks, Pete and MJ have 2 kids is the last Spidey 616 story in my own personal continuity.

Kusanagi02 - Thanks for posting that link, I’ve been waiting to read that!

Read the interview.

LOL at least JQ kind of owned up to the Marvel U being 10 years old, with Spidey going from 15 to 25. I remember when I heard him say at the NY Comic Con of '06 that the Marvel U was only 7 years old and I did a serious “WHAT THE…” LOL bare minimum the MU has to be at least 10 years old. Personally, I think it’s about 12-15 (During Civil War Reed said they went to outer space 12 years ago if you want a recent number) but no matter what number you come up with there’s no way you can really explain Artie, Leach, the Lizard’s son and Franklin never aging… At the very least you have to say more than 10. Just from Spidey’s perspective, he was a sophmore when he got bitten so 3 years of High School, he got his Bachelors Degree which takes 4 years, and at least bare minimum 3 more years to cover everything else. 7 years really doesn’t work…

As for the rest of the interview, I dunno man JQ’s quite a character. No comment.

I mean i don’t want to hate Joe Q but i really don’t have it in me to want to read BND just to see an explanation of the whole Civil War thing and him going back to web shooters.

Marvel and EA have broken up. I hope Marvel gets back together with Capcom. They can make some beautiful babies. How about DAT MvC3?

Yeah it looks really good for Capcom getting the license back. Ono (current producer of SF4) of Capcom said he would like to work on SF4 and Lambros, the Marvel exec who handles Marvel games said he would love to see the MVC games live on. On Capcom’s site about 2 times they mentioned when EA’s license would originally go up, January 2009 (whoa a year early). So it seemed like they knew when was the right time to act. I dunno, I have a hard time not seeing Capcom getting the license back at this point. At the very least so they can re-release the older games with some online play. You never know though.

LOL if they do make MVC3 put Adam Warlock in it. Thanks to Annihilation Conquest we already know he’s a shoto.

A pallette swap with gambit and give him Thanos’s supers and you’re done.

Yeah. I really hope they can at least rerelease the old games. They should make MvC2 an Xbox Live Arcade download.

millar/hitch FF…waiting for the trade

funny how he now has energy blasts too

Messiah Complex was actually good. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. And the ending was TOTALLY unexpected.

Nappa, what does the scouter say about his sarcasm level?

Que ocho mil!!!

I’ll admit when I’m wrong. I didn’t like that Steve Rogers got killed but the Captain America comic’s actually been better since he died. As I read the comic over the past year the death seemed less like a gimmick death (though I still think that’s somewhat the case) to something that feels right. It seems obvious but Bucky is the perfect replacement for Steve Rogers. It’ll be interesting to see how he goes from stealthy assassin to super hero not to mention his overall role in the Marvel Universe.

This is relatively new territory for Marvel. Usually the changing of the mantle for superheroes happens much more often in DC Comics with guys like Flash and Green Lantern and Robin. Steve Rogers has now officially become Marvel’s version of Barry Allen and Bucky Barnes has become Wally West. Marvel would lose a lot of respect in the comic world if this change wasn’t permanent.

P.S. I know that there was a Captain America before Steve Rogers but by and large when you thought of Captain America that’s who you pictured.

Thor: Vikings was too dope like Rambo 4 but without Stallone or heavy artillery.

You just started admitting you’re wrong NOW? Brubaker’s Cap has been great for a while now! Before Cap’s death, after his death, and now with a new Cap, all just plain epic.

It was always a good comic though it fell off a bit during the Civil War to be honest. This past year it’s been a great comic.

The funny thing is on the first page of the latest issue where they recap events they mentioned the Red Skrull and not the Red Skull. Now it may have just been a typo but then again…

Amazon has dat new DP TPB for $20

I bought She Hulk #24 & #25 today & read that she quit the firm & has become a bounty hunter with a big ass chip on her shoulder. What’s her deal & what went down with the firm?

I picked up Ast. X-Men Vol. 1-3 and AoA collection to finish it.

Jesus christ I should have believed the hype sooner, Whedon’s X-Friends is a great f’ing book >_>

I hope in later installments that I haven’t read Colossus’s lack of time becomes a bigger thing, right now he seems to fit in too well.

The single thing that would bring a new meaning in my life would be for Ms Marvel to get killed, revealed to be a skrull, and for the series to be renamed “Aaron Stack: Hero Robot.”

WHO IS WITH ME?!?!?!
