Marvel Comics Thread

Marvel’s going to do a book called First X-Men. Apparantly Wolverine and Sabretooth had a team of X-Men before Professor X.

I just got through reading a really good pic that reminds me of the X-men. I’m not sure if the author even read any X-men stuff, but it feels like it could be a precursor to X-men and the origin of the established mutant population before House of M.

The name of the book is Wild Seed. I recommend it.

Someone lied to you good sir…

I hope not because I really want to see how things are working out for ol Magnus

like how Sabretooth was in the Avengers 1959 mini series also.

Avengers vs X-Men is a hit or miss to some people, but I’ve been enjoying it so far. Haven’t picked up books in about 3 weeks =\

Looks like the fate of the entire UNIVERSE is all up to Spider-Man in Avengers vs. X-Men #9.

Wow just in time for his new movie. What a coincidence!

And then we’ll find out thats not really Peter, its Stan Lee making the jump from movie cameos to comic mainstay. Then he’ll join Samuel L Fury in Fear The Civil Chaos Reign event.

If you’re going to start reading MAX Punisher, I’d suggest starting with ‘Born’, which is Punisher’s MAX origin story.

I actually havent read any avx stuff yet, trying to wait it out…

I just want jeannnnnn back.

How many Vs issues have there been and how the heck is it at avx9 I swear I just picked up 3

Nah, just August solicits coming up. Why they showing these new comics and covers.

Why the hell do you want Jean back? Look here’s Emma Frost, she’s Jean 2.0 but more interesting since she has a personality and tends to keep her dramatics on the low side.

Honestly there is no place for Jean anymore, boring character that is outdated. Unless she gets an extreme makeover and goes to Logan’s side there is absolutely no reason to bring her back other than “lol Marvel”.

Also AvX sucks, I knew it beforehand but I decided to read some issues from a friend so I don’t seem naive when I say that. I’m still trying to figure out how they said Iron Man won against Magneto, when Magneto somehow felt a planet of people explode (Magnetic something some?) and just you know, stopped doing anything.

Joe Q is pissing me off to no end, I can’t wait until he’s replaced, as long as Loeb doesn’t take over.

Depends on who is writing it. The WaTXM, Legacy/AA, and UXM tie ins are pretty good. The SA as well but the main books right now aren’t.

Just waiting for Aaron, Hickman, Gillen issues of the AvX.

Also I so want Iceman to put Rulk into a coma after learning of how he beat Colossus. DO IT!

JQ’s been out of the picture for a while now. Axel Alonso is the Editor in Chief. JQ is the creative consultant and deals with movies and cartoons, not really involved with the day-to-day comics business anymore.

You know JQ and Loeb are just playing the Vizier Jaffar role from Aladdin right now. Not officially in charge, but pretty much paving the way for everything. Power behind the power.

We need an orphan kid to find a magical genie, let’s say Brubaker, to overthrow the oppressive reign and have a cool battle and stuff.

I had volume four of MAX and “Born” but could never find the other volumes at my local shop, or I found them and they were insanely expensive. Then I recently found out about the wonders of Amazon and went ahead got the first three. Wanted to read the newest MAX run but hated the art with a passion.

Speaking of art, has anyone here read Shadowland? Every review I read said the art was terrible, but I wanna see how Matt ended up running the Hand.

Then Mark Waid could randomly dance around Brubaker singing for no reason at all, with Millar being the evil little parrot that tries to go good but we still don’t like.

I think Matt’s Hand stuff came before Shadowland, as in Shadowland he was already in control for a period of time.

Shadowland’s not going to tell you how Matt started running the Hand, when the story starts he’s already doing that. It’s going to to tell you how he stopped running the Hand and why Kingpin runs it now. Yeah, what AYO?! said.

The art’s nothing special but it’s far from horrible. The story has its moments here and there but it’s an extremely forgettable tale. Outside of peaking your curiosity it’s not worth reading IMHO.

Indeed, I used ebay to get all my volumes of MAX. You want to talk expensive, the Hardcover for vol 5 of Punisher Max went out of print and now it goes for like $250 USD each time.

And am I the only person who likes Steve Dillon’s art?

I’d disagree with you on the statement of it’s not worth reading. I personally feel that the story was worth while given what Matt does to Bullseye and his transition from Daredevil to the Beast of the Hand.

Morrison’s Phoenix/jean was amazing, and was by far my favorite version of jean. If she returns, I want that more emotionless “higher Plato” jean/phoenix.
