I’ll find the articles I read from Way, DP writer, and the others I saw about Flash Venom being in Secret and edit
Deadpool: Can’t find the article. Daniel Way 'Pool is going to find a way to die permanently(I took that as series over? I could be wrong), the first book of the arc comes out in Feb (#50) so no his book won’t end until months later I guess.
Yeah there’s gonna be a Venom mini event this February. If you picked up the last issue of Marvel previews there’s gonna be a Venom alt cover for everything that month. Apparently there’s gonna be like 5 issues of Venom that month or something.
Would you say Magneto and the Brotherhood are more like the Black Panthers from the heyday? They were about protecting themselves. They were targeted for assassinations and they had killed law enforcement and some threatened to bomb stations. Magneto and his crew actually did that stuff and I also recall someone not necessarily sure if it was the Black Panthers too, but I know there were movements to have blacks move back to Africa as this country didn’t want them there and that’s similar to Magneto who created Genosha as a sanctum for mutants.
Sorry to go off on topic here but…
I have two questions for this thread, did anyone find the key events for Fear Itself forced?
Thor dying, it didn’t even make any sense, he was bodying the Serpent in the entire last issue. At least if the Serpent fucked him up I would understand but he didn’t. I mean how could Thor lose/die with Odin’s special armor (which I hoped he would keep) and Ragnarok/Odinsword? I didn’t even get that wow effect when Thor “died”, I was like “oh he died? from what”. I also felt that Thor v.s Hulk/Nul and Thing/Angrir was rushed, mostly the fight with Hulk.
Cap’s shield breaking, wow that was so underplayed that I didn’t even get a wow effect from that either. I’ve only been reading comics for the last 4 years or so but I have down background reading, and if I remember correctly… When an object composed of vibranium is broken, isn’t all the kinetic energy within released at once? The more kinetic force vibranium absorbs the harder it is to break and the harder it is to break the more kinetic energy it can absorb in that cycle. So why did that no happen, did Fraction fuck up there? I also feel that Steve wouldn’t be throwing his shield at an All-Father like the Serpent who bodied the Avengers in one swing. Why would a season military vet throw his metal discus at a dude who could destroy the planet with relative ease?
Both these two otherwise powerful events felt forced and rushed, thoughts? I think I’m the only one who actually liked S.I
My last question; Could you guys see Black Panther getting a Marvel Studios film into the cinematic universe and it sells well like all their other movies? I’m sure it would do amazing, a black super hero from Africa, who is a king and just as smart Tony Stark (personally I find smarter T’Challa smarter), but I have a friend who thinks otherwise.
EDIT: I am very knowledgeable on the Black Panther party, yes you could consider the Brotherhood of Mutants a comic version of them. But it would be in the same manner as Magnus being a derivative of Malcolm X, Malcolm wasn’t always as extreme as Magneto has been, and the same would be applied to the Brotherhood of Mutants and the Black Panther party. The mass emigration to Africa started long before the party though, it first started with Marcus Garvey if I remember correctly.
Ultimately I think Fraction is better with single heroes than he is with teams or events. I don’t really blame him entirely. A lot of Fear Itself seemed forced because Marvel wanted to kill a character off every three months.
Loved the artwork, the temporary new costumes in the last issue and Iron Man’s drunken tribute to get Odin’s attention. Issue #1 was off to a great start before it fizzled out. So I guess it wasn’t all bad. Just not worth reading if you are looking for anything more than pretty pictures.
Marvel has tossed around the idea of making Black Panther movie for a while. Originally they wanted Wesley Snipes to play BP. Then he got locked up for tax evasion. So not sure what’s up with that. I’ve been hearing about a Blade prequel, and if they go younger they obviously won’t need Wesley for that either.
Anything good that could’ve come for F.I was forced and ended up sucking Thor’s death was empty, they did a good job with Johnny Storm’s death. F.I would’ve been better if it lasted 4 or 5 more issues instead of 7.
As for Fraction, I still love anything I’ve read that he has written; Thor: Ages of Thunder Iron Man: Five Nightmares. I haven’t read Iron Man: Diassembled because I thought it would be a reboot, similar to Brand New Day.
Agreed the art was beautiful honestly. Iron Man’s “destroyer armor” (cartoon show homage much?) was awesome. It was sad but F.I 7’s only highlight was Cap wielding Mjolnir and smacking skadi with it. I think that was the one thing I didn’t see coming and really enjoyed. I hope Steve holds on to Mjolnir until Thor comes back by the time the Avengers/Thor 2 comes back lol.
This movie has my highest level for a single character movie, besides Iron Man 3. Marvel has already hinted to Black Panther in both Iron Man 2 and the First Avenger. But I think they’re pushing more for a Dr. Strange movie right now…
I remember reading a bit of it. Doom is a dick in the part I read with regards to Wakanda, that said, very good characterization. I didn’t know it was an entire story arc though, might read it now when I get free time.
“Created in the series Iron Man 2.0 by Tony Stark, this War Machine armor is a complete redesign after the destruction of the previous model. Designed by Iron Man 2.0 artist Barry Kitson, the armor emphasizes stealth, recon, infiltration, and combat readiness.[70] Unlike its predecessors, it is a slimmed down armor with no visible external weaponry such as shoulder miniguns or missile launchers. The armor’s color scheme is gunmetal with black detailing and has two lines on the helmet’s left eye area that glows according to the repulsor reactor’s color. The armor utilizes upgraded technology such as an updated Chameleon Mode (previously a feature of the “Silver Centurion” Iron Man armor) for optical invisibility, holographic projection, and camouflage purposes. The armor also possesses Ghost technology to phase through solid objects, scanner invisibility to become undetectable to all targeting systems, and a Combat Mode that can deploy weaponry which is normally hidden and increase the size and bulk of the armor. But the armor has limitations such as strain of the armor’s repulsor reactor, disorientation from the Chameleon Mode, and the inability to be both invisible and intangible at the same time due to a compatibility issue”
Picked Gaurdians of the Galaxy #3 just because it’s the first comic ever to feature Rocket Raccoon’s UMvC3 camo alt lol! The book itself didn’t really inspire me to pick up the following or previous issues.
Wolverine and the X-Men was dope man THAT’S HOW YOU DO A COMIC RIGHT THERE! Iceman holding it down word!
Ice Ice Baby!
[details=Spoiler]About time they finally got into Iceman’s ability to control other ice beings. That was brought up a LOOOOONG time ago, under Chuck Sucks Austen IIRC at that! Iceman created small ice figures and was able to move their limbs long ago. Then this notion was dropped and never expanded on. I don’t blame people too much because the less referenced of Chuck’s run the better, but it’s nice to see someone put this to use finally. And without actually mentioning Chuck’s story. GO AARON!
Oh yeah and Iceman making out with Kitty Pryde was cool too. Good fun!
Ha it was nice how Iceman said he could be amazing. Really sneaky Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends nod.[/details]
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. Be safe!
