Hay I’m just getting in to reading Marvel comics. My favorite characters are Shuma-Gorath,Dr.Strange,Black Panther, and Gambit. Now I know a lot of Marvel comics and characters but never read them because for one I like anime more and two I don’t know were to start, there’s too many comics and spin-offs that Its hard to know were to start. Right now I’m going to get the New Avengers series because some one recommended it to me scene I like Dr.Strange. Any advice on were to start reading Marvel comics. Also were can I get some cool Gambit art,(I’m looking for official art) I’m making a Gambit Fight Stick
For artwork requests you are better off trying the Image Mishmash forum.
Marvel’s been making everything as new reader friendly as possible with blurbs in the front page that catch you up to speed. Start with chatacters you like and go from there.
ah man I guess i’m the only DnA fan on here lol.
for gambit art you can try deviantart or http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/index.php
dr strange - essential dr strange vol 1. (lots of issues but its in black and white)
gambit - gambit classic vol 1 has the issue where he made his debut and the first mini series he got.
i’ve only read their iron man/thor mini series and their run on new mutants. been procrastinating on their cosmic stuff lol
I like DnA. They have a good grasp on there characters and usually have good ideas of how a story is supposed to unfold.
If you want to read a good Gambit in modern Marvel, only choice is X-23. Pick up starting at the Miss Sinister arc and go forward.
I am just going to wait on the WaTXM and UXM rosters.
And yes, can’t wait to see what Carey does with Rachel with her BDSM outfits, Havok and Polaris. Plus get to see Polaris and Magneto interact.
And that brings the question, why is Carey not the flagship writer since he does have the best grasp on the characters?
Should be carey and yost doing X-men. Yost writing was nice in the storm mini
Black Panther’s an interesting case. Back in the 90s, Christopher Priest wrote the character and his run was very well recieved, however, during the 2000s Marvel let Hudlin (BET guy, I believe) write the character. Hudlin’s run discarded much of what Priest wrote and introduced, but IMO…I personally like Hudlin’s run.
If you want you can start with this book-

Shuma doesn’t appear a lot in comics really =P
Shuma-Gorath appeared in the recent Invaders Now mini. Which was good and referenced most of his past stories. Be warned that even though Shuma is the main villain in the story he doesn’t speak this time. I think Gage was going for an other worldly feel of sorts.

The first issue of Spider-Island was good. Did it live up to 4 months of hype? Nope. Seemed like a regular Spider-Man story to me. But it was a good issue still. MJ had the best line in the book.
Speaking of good lines, Mephisto had the best line of the week in Ghost Rider #2! I don’t have the issue in front of me at the moment, but he said something to Johnny Blaze like, “Lay off the swearing. Yes this is Hell. But it’s not HBO.” There were a few other lines in there that had me laughing out loud on the train ride home. Good stuff!
Fear Itself was alright. Loved X-Men Legacy as always. And New Avengers, DAMN lots of Squirrel Girl kicking butt! :lovin: Good Marvel week for me.
Picked up Spider-Man and Ghost Rider on the Marvel side this week.

Teenage Doom written by Nick Spencer. Tell me that is not hyped.
I hear good things about this spencer guy so i may give it a shot
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
WTF, I need to read Osborn asap.
Glad to see the original team’s back on this.
Same, waiting for TRADE, BABY. Since my store only stocked like two issues and it was sold out before I would get there.
Finally caught up on Spider-Man (Last three issues) and I gotta say, fun stuff, but I has questions in spoiler form.
Jackal’s minions
Spoiler
Okay we found out one is Kaine…am I right in thinking the other one is uh…Ben? I really hope I am wrong, I REALLY do, because I <3 Ben and don’t want to see his body desecrated this way. Still, I like the brutes.
Also as odd as it sounds I really enjoy the Jackal as a villain, him and his Miles 6 are pretty entertaining and he has a certain “swag” to him, yeah I said it.
Also new Hobgoblin is really sweet, I approve of my favorite Spidey character getting a nice upgrade, He really reminds me of an “Evil” version of Spider-Man as it is. Not in the Venom sense, but in the mirrored lives sense.
X-Men writers talk about Psylocke. A really good read.
