Yeah, hearing Venom is going to be Flash Thompson killed my excitement for the comic… I still have some faith in Rick Remender though. Uncanny X-Force this past week was definitely a surprise at the end!
I’m a little concerned about Age of X though. My comic shop didn’t get it in, so I’m still debating whether or not to buy it. This “event” is much smaller than Age of Apocalypse and I can’t help but feel the world won’t be as fleshed out. Age of Apocalypse had the entire X line involved for 4 months where as Age of X only involves 2 X-titles for 3 months. I know Marvel has been posting those Age of X Communiques, but those don’t help people who are casually picking up the books. Are the communiques reprinted in Alpha? If not, I may hold out for a TPB.
FMJ - The first .1 issue with Iron Man doesn’t come out until Wed. so don’t know how to answer that question until then.
Ha I guess Gain was right about Venom’s new ID. I was right about which FF member was gonna croak though. Still my guess about Brock becoming Venom was way off lol!
Flash is cool because it means he will get symbiote legs. Having him doing another tour of duty and losing his legs was a pretty stupid idea I thought. It wasn’t that long ago that he was brain dead for christ’s sake. Marvel sure has enjoyed dumping on Flash as of late. Remember he picked on Peter in HS. Not on you personally geez…
Does that mean Flash will learn that Spidey is Parker? I had missed a bunch of stories between Civil War and Big Time. I noticed that in Dark Reign/Siege Gargan wasn’t aware of Parker’s secret. Was the symbiote affected by the psych block, or is there another explanation of the symbiotes/hosts being unaware (or did I miss something and the later venoms do know parker’s identity)?
I’m just trying to think of how the symbiote situation will corrupt Thompson so that he’s back to hating on Parker.
Yeah I think the symbiote is part of the psychic block too but prior to that it never told Gargan. Probably for the usual Norman Osborn ‘my secret to keep’ reasons. Eddie now remembers the past as him harassing Peter because he took pictures of Spidey and not because Eddie knew his ID.
Need to get my comics for this week, maybe my missing issues of BIG TIME will be in since you know, I want to read the ones I have and know what the hell is going on.
I agree, having Flash lose his legs was a terrible idea and I was shocked when I read that issue of Spider-Man. It came out of left field. Flash is going to love having his legs back, but the interview mentioned not wanting any user wearing the symbiote over 20 times. Maybe Flash is going to go rogue to keep the symbiote and his lifestyle post-Venom?
I hope Flash does not somehow find out Parker is Spider-Man again or we’ll be seeing the whole post-Civil War Flash, who I found kind of annoying… It’d be nice for Peter to have non-super powered friends / support cast, but I guess this is one way to get readers to care about a “new” character.
Thanks for letting me know Alpha doesn’t have the communiques, Sano. I may hold off then… got a couple of days to mull over it!
X-23 and X-Force, a week old and X-Force’s ending already been partially spoiled in this thread, but since I’m basically giving away the endings here goes the tag and can I make this sentence any longer?
[details=Spoiler]For X-Force Psylocke found not-ready-for-prime-time little kid Apocalypse and felt bad for him. She thought that he was innocent and shouldn’t be held accountable for what Apoc did as an adult. Wolverine couldn’t even bring himself to kill him either. And just when you thought you were going to have a story arc of X-Force about to raise Apocalypse to be a good little boy WABAM! Fantomex blew little Apoc’s brains out.
For X-23 the shocker was at the very end the real Mister Sinister busted out of the body of Lady Sinister, shed her like she was an old skin. So unless this is a trick of sorts Mister Sinister is back![/details]
Honestly, I don’t think they’re going to dwell on Fantomex’s decision in the book. Doesn’t seem like that type of ongoing. Though I can see a writer picking up on it in another story.
As far as X-23 goes. I like it. I have the weirdest boner for Mr. Sinister. He’s one of my favorite villains strangely enough. Mostly because his surreptitious about everything. Which is how I’d do things if I were a super villain, fuck getting your hands dirty.
I kind of like where the X-Books are right now. They’re pretty damn enjoyable. Shouts to X-Dudes in to Serve and Protect, the most obvious premise no ones ever done before. Also, New X-Men is fire. Wrapping up all sorts of loose ends and my girl Illyana is back.
…shit. I just realized I forgot to pick up issue three of Bad Influences.
Yeah I dig the X-23 run so far too. Serve and Protect was pretty good as well. I thoroughly enjoy the Anole/Rockslide team up story. Honestly though I can’t remember what else happened in that issue and I only read it two days ago lol. The other stories in it were nowhere near as good imo.
I don’t know what the big fascination is with sending people to Hell recently though. First Wolverine, now Namor? At least this avatar I have to wear for losing the mvc3 bet has some point of reference now lol.
Why the fuck is Namor in hell? Is Marvel planning some Hell resistance squad with those two? Fuck have Nightcrawler, Thunderbird I, Maggot and a few others join in on the fun, make it a freakin’ party.
Picked up a few comics this week for Marvel: New Spidey I can’t read, X-23 I spoiled for myself, Daken #4, and new Avengers issue I skimmed and just seems to be quite a bit of talking.
Boy, was Iron Man 500.1 hella boring. Tony went to an AA meeting and recounted his life story. Maybe it would be more entertaining if he didn’t keep mentioning the free cups of coffee he would get at AA meetings. Seriously he must’ve said it like 10 times! Yeash…
Yeah if you want Iron Man’s life story, pick up the TPB for Iron Man Extremis. Then Marvel Universe book / Marvel Universe.com / Wikipedia everything else. Much more entertaining. And you get the story of how Iron Man got his MvC 3 outfit too in Extremis heh.
It seems completely unrelated to the Wolverine Hell thing. Something to do with all the dead kings of Atlantis. Still a pretty crappy direction for the writer to take. I find it interesting at least that Namor’s hell is a desert and he’s freaking out about dehydrating.
Well, the book was pretty good up until this issue, and I still reserve judgement.
