People are probably complaining because it felt shoed in… Black Panther just lost the very vibranium that kept his country safe and now he just runs off from Wakanda to play around in Hell’s Kitchen? It just doesn’t seem plausible. Heck, any of the other heroes that participated in Shadowland, which was terrible in my opinion, should’ve taken the mantle as protector of Hell’s Kitchen. To be honest, I hope Matt doesn’t come back as Daredevil too soon although I know Reborn is starting already.
Any thoughts on how powerful Doom is in Children’s Crusade? Recent issues of Fantastic Four led me to believe he is in a weakened state after World War Hulks, but Doom seems every bit as powerful in Children’s Crusade as he was after Miller’s Fantastic Four run. Maybe this happens before World War Hulks and before Doomwar? Or maybe this happens long after Doom recovered from World War Hulks? Hrm…
Honestly couldn’t tell you. Only real time frame we have for ATCC is after Siege. Where it fits in with everything else is supposed to be cleared up later.
Things like that are the end result of Heinberg having to submit his story really early due to his busy schedule.
Pretty small Marvel week for me. Only Deadpool and Heroes for Hire.
HfH was pretty good. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes. Deadpool was ok, glad the vampire thing is done tho. Anybody else feel kinda bad about the girl ditching Deadpool?
I just woke up an hour from my nap and dreamed I was Wolverine in some kind of alternate future. I was getting dressed up in my room when I discovered that someone had been wearing my dress shoes. I smelled them and knew that Lex Luthor had been wearing them. I went to a place where he was giving a speech and called him out before I drew my claws and lept at him. That’s when I woke up.
After Marvel vs Capcom 3, Capcom should make a Marvel-only game like Marvel Super Heroes or X-Men Children of the Atom. This would please my inner comic book fan.
Okay got caught up on my folder crap, here is watch I just read.
Shadowland #2-5 (Yes the reason why Matt was doing what he did was pretty terribad, reminds me of Hal/Parallax, but it was still an interesting story).
Shadowland: After the fall one-shot
Black Panther: The Man without Fear #513-514.
Then picked up:
Daredevil Reborn #1
The Amazing Spider-Man #651 (Still don’t have the last issues).
Attempt to grab Avengers and X-23 tomorrow, along with my bat collection.
Edit: My guess on the new Venom, since it’s being thrown around in here a lot (And people still think Flash): John Jameson. Don’t ask me why, but reading the teaser in the back of #651 and that’s what I immediately got.
As stupid as this is, how the fuck does it work? I mean it’s not like the two Hulks are vastly different characters, with each side bringing different abilities.
They both get strong when mad, look Hulk like, and fuck shit up with their fists. My god that comic is stupid, since Loeb and friends launched it in '08 I’m routinely surprised it’s still on shelves. They should just give Pak a do-over.
Age of X is only 8 issues, from different comics. Very short event and I really don’t see the point of it unless it effects 616 X-Men in some drastic way.
For your other questions I have no idea, I haven’t kept up with X-Men since Whedon’s Astonishing.
Age of X is going to have major ramifications on the X books. They are already leading into it with this week’s X-Men Legacy in regular 616 so it’s not like it’s seperate as a whole either. The story in X-Men Legacy is just short on answers as to why any of it matters regarding 616 because it has to be right this second, but things like that will get cleared up over time.
It’s a smaller event because the other X events have been really long is all and Marvel as a whole is taking a step back from the bigger events for the time being. The upcoming Fear crossover is going to be pretty small too I think.
Almost all of the X events over the last few years have been pretty self contained in X books so it’s not like it’s going to be up there with Siege and Civil War. I think it’s better that way me personally. Onslaught determining the fate of the entire Marvel Universe in such a way that he’s the reason behind the Heroes Reborn universe… I mean I even like the character but C’MON… The Marvel Universe has to be bigger than just what’s happening with Mutants. IMHO anyway.
Didn’t read Chaos War myself.
Oh and there was a fake Shuma-Gorath look-alike in X-Men Legacy this week too. Only he was red and looked more like a spider, but he came from a different dimension and everything! MvC 3 guys I want a red Shuma-Gorath alternate color please! :looney:
HA ASM made a reference to Parallel Lives, the retcon where MJ always knew that Spider-Man was Peter! I never had a problem with that retcon. I know there’s a faction of Spidey fans who wanted even that much erased with BND and are still bitching about that LOL! Nice going Slott. Other references to past stories too and we got the triangle going with Carlie, Pete and MJ. Still prefer a married Spider-Man myself but this is the kind of single Spidey I can definitely deal with.
Wolverine and Jubilee was BOOORING man what was that about? All they did was talk in the comic WHAT THE… Have Wolverine stab somebody QUICK! GIMME SOME BLOOD! :chainsaw:
Wolverine in Hell was fun! I wish living-in-hell Sabretooth had more dialog in the comic for old times sake but it was nice to see him again. They cleared up a few things about who Wolverine’s dad from Origin was too since that guy is in hell but you could probably take a guess to who is his real dad in Origin anyway.
So next week a member of the Fantastic Four DIES! I’m betting it’s Human Torch. I don’t think he’s ever fake-died like everyone else. I don’t know about Thing either but one of my friends who’s a big FF fan told me he has fake-died in the past so I’ll take his word for it. Still with Thing being a part time Avenger I sort of doubt they will bump him off, but you never know.
I agree with Sano on Jubilee+Wolverine. I feel bad that I hyped it up for some people. I see Jubes cracking glass, and I’m like, Oh shiiiit… here it comes…
nothing…
then, Jubes in a gym with Rockslide, OK HERE IT COMES!! VAMPIRE RAGE!!!
nothing…
Bar with vampire cougar… Ok, some sexiness, I can roll with that…
nothing…
pixie shows up… I throw my hands up in frustration. I check to see if bendis is writing the book.
sigh. The art was ok, at least.
~
ASM was great though! Loved MJ’s scenes.

RE: Age of X, I thought it was going to be relatively isolated, no? I am under the impression from interviews that it would affect the x books, but as far as cross titles, i think it will be minimal. Like Age of Apocalypse, I guess. Although, this might be another way to bring Cable back, without retconning.

Chaos war is great. I think things in this and children’s crusade will be referenced in the upcoming “Fear Itself” stories. Maybe not huge parts of each story respectively, but little things, especially considering the involvement with Nightmare and the “gods.” I don’t know what exactly of of children’s crusade will impact things, but it seems like it is supposed to be more than just a story of the young avengers.

Next week is going to be a big week for marvel for me. Anyone have any info on this Magneto book coming out?!
Invisible Woman no. She is a mother, has had a sorta death thing and was impersonated by a Skrull for a while, she is safe.
The Magneto thing is a one shot from earlier in his life, it involves him forming his terror cell, recollecting on his life, and Absorbing Man is somehow involved. Little comic blurb in the Marvel previews.
Aside from Invincible Iron Man and Possibly Avengers I’m prolly going to be dropping all the other Marvel stuff because most of their top tier lines remain in the $3.99 and that’s just too much for me.
