I haven’t been reading X-men comics in awhile. I recently read UCX-men 516 and 517. Can anyone give me a nice update on Magneto or list some good Magneto based comics. I read Dark Seduction;HoM(currently reading) and Fatal Attractions.
Read Magneto Testament.
Kitty Pryde returns and Marvel made a trailer about it lol -
Llast week brevoort was doing some QnA on the CBR forums and was asked about her coming back and said something like “Maybe when that bullet hits something.” People ignored it but I figured that was a storyline wating to happen. Then this, lol.
I think the new Ironman armor needs more lights, it doesn’t nearly have enough.
Word going to get on that. Any others would you recommend? ty
Morrison’s entire run on New X-Men. Without giving too much away Magneto plays a vital part in the entire story up until close to the end… Um, in before retcons? Well just read it and you’ll probably get what I mean.
X-Men 1, 2 and 3 by Claremont and Lee. That’s a fun one. There’s a TPB for it and they recently reprinted in one of the X-Men Forever books, before that series started.
There’s a few single issue Magneto stories that I like from Uncanny X-Men. I’ll dig around for issue numbers when I get a free minute.
Hush man or you’ll spoil it!
Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon is another great X-Men series IMO, and is sort of a sequel to Morrison’s New X-Men series. However you don’t have to read the Morrison stuff to enjoy it ;3
joss whedons run on astonishing x-men was awesome.
I still need to read morrisons run on new x-men but i dont like the art.
other magneto stories (wont spoil it)
Uncanny X-Men #111-113
X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills - must read.
Uncanny X-men #150
Thanks for all your help guys. I got a few questions for you all.
Which do you think is the strongest version of Magneto?
Which are some good Magneto/Thor battles in the comics? Winnings and Losses.
If you all don’t mind.
Couldn’t find Uncanny 111-113 and 150, but found God loves.
Sano… Which are the names of them? I think I got Mutant Genesis hope that is one of them. Got a lot to read thanks again guys
take that vs shit to CBR dude
My bad took out the Vs stuff. Still interested in the other Qs.
I can’t say I recall Magneto and Thor fighting. Even in that big X-Men / New Mutants / Asgard crossover I don’t think they fought. Obviously I’m probably wrong since there’s now way I’ve read every comic in existence but generally speaking Thor and Magneto don’t have too many reasons to fight against each other.
Strongest version of Magneto is probably during the '90s, Fatal Attractions - one of the stories you are reading will give you the cliff notes. He could control the iron content in your blood and rip you to shreds. He froze people in place that way and he killed a team called The Neo that way, it was pretty violent.
There is a certain broken-ness regarding '60s Magneto. He used to have mental powers. Oh and Professor X could use his mental powers against computers and robotic brains (like Sentinel and Mastermold). These are things that are forgotten and never mentioned again. To be fair Stan Lee was making it up as he went along naturally so it wasn’t for a while until the character’s powers were nailed down. And yeah some things he came up with still aren’t nailed down because no one agrees on how Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense works, but anyway. It’s generally agreed upon by everyone that Magneto doesn’t have mental powers (and never did in a sense).
Versus threads aren’t allowed, but versus talk is okay so long as you don’t go fanboy overboard - MY CHARACTER OWNZ ALL - and as long as you realize a good writer or even a stupid writer can make ANYONE defeat ANYONE under the right circumstances so you shouldn’t take that stuff too seriously. See Spider-Man defeating Firelord. Or see Squirrel Girl defeating Doctor Doom and Thanos. IT’S FACT / BIBLE / CANON deal with it! :looney:
That said I don’t have an answer for Hulk / Magneto. Depends on whose writing it kind of. '90s Magneto and Planet / World War Hulk would be a hell of a fight though.
Magneto’s not depicted as being that strong nowadays. I laugh at Callisto threatening him with a plastic fork in New Excalibur a while back.
I’ll have issue numbers for you when I have free time. Give me a few days, just a little busy.
EDIT: Oh and as long as your PC can play CD-Roms you may want to pick this up. You’ll find every Uncanny X-Men issue you need easy.
Hey you might be part of the Planet Hulk premiere event even if you are not attending heh!
Sweet I hope they do it justice, I want to see “hulk smash” everyone just like he didn in the comic.
As far as potienal raw power goes, hulk is the ( or potentially) correct?
if its anything like Hulk Vs, it will be good
TheDarkPhoenix - You mean between Hulk and Magneto? It’s hard to say. Magneto has the Earth’s gravitational pull to back him up, but he usually needs machines and things like that to access enough of it. And he’s not as strong as he used to be. The angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he gets and the limits to that end can be seen in World War Hulk. Hulk may have more potential because right now Magneto may never climb as high as he was in the '90’s and possibly won’t top that level. But you never know.
I really don’t think there’s much of a reason for the two to fight in the first place. Hulk has probably killed lots of Non-Mutants accidentally while wrecking cities. When he’s not doing that Hulk’s saving the world from alien invasions and Magneto lives there with a bunch of Mutants. Magneto would put him on his payroll if he could.
nah i just meant power wise in the marvel universe in general. When it comes to raw power i can’t think of anyone that tops him.
Speaking of power -
So yeah Bendis hasn’t found enough ways to ruin Sentry so he decided to toss in the Old Testament into the mix.
