Marvel Comics Thread

im pretty sure this “heroic age” they are clamouring about will make marvel old school good vs bad again at specific moments, instead of contant chaos
its gonna be peaceful and the avengers will be reunited and bendis’ billion year arc (that started at dissassembled) will finally end

Marvel’s worst decade ever is finally coming to a close. I’m interested to see how Joeq and Bender ruin the next one.

fixed

How unfortunate. You’re probably too young to know about a time when Marvel Comics weren’t so decompressed to the point that they were made almost obsolete to something called a Trade Paperback. Or when continuity actually counted for something. Or when an actual cover to a comic had some relevance to the the contents of said comic and had a dose of creativity. I find Joeq to be the main culprit of all of these issues for the issues.

Out of curiosity. Let’s assume that the 00’s weren’t horrible for Marvel Comics. Please explain to me how the comics were superior to those of another decade such as the 1980’s. I eagerly await your reply.

I started reading comics in the early 90’s and while i loved them then… My biggest complaint was how everyone was perfect and how one villian arc just lead into another. As in a group would just fight shadow king or ultron and the very next book…Enter The king pin…wtf? seriously lol…Also You truly didn’t know anything about a characters “personality or history in the 90’s.” For the most part they where “just that way.” They had a trend of being funny, or not killing and that was about it…I mean after over 400 to 500 books for most the teams and characters no one had really “explained” why any they are like they are. 00 Did this with soooo many characters and teams.

I could care less about a cover having something to do with the book, There a plenty of books I would have never tried if not for the cover. Also i rather not be spoiled by the contents of the book with the cover all the time.

Like i said i enjoy books about hero’s, but not “supermen who always do good 99% of the time” the main reason i can’t really get into DC books is because they have this “unrealistic” hero standards… Its like there hero’s minds well be “gods” because they rarely if ever been the rules or really seem “humane” just heros that do go whatever the case. And early marvel was alot like that.

Again I like the fact that in the last few years you have gotten into the background, personality, moral choices politics, religion and racism that you didn’t get into to much in the early 90’s save for X-men somewhat.

For instance i just read MS marvel where they again kinda broke down what made moonstone, moonstone… Not just she found the moonstone killed her mom and then became “evil”

Very well. Agree to disagree. Have a good day.

I kind of interpreted matrix’s post as- The Marvel comics from this past decade did not feel like the comics from the 60s-90s, and as such suck.

…but I agree with DarkPhoenix- this past decade had some pretty good stuff IMO.
I just wish they’d collect that Tigra mini from a few years back into a TPB =/

Realy? bad?
did you skip the 90’s or something?
Bru Cap
Bendis Daredevil
JMS Thor and dissasembeld
Whedon Astonishing Xmen
Waid FF
Just a few things poping in to my head at the moment
this was one of the best decades

If I may add- Hickman’s work! Also Fabian Nicezia on Cable and DeadPool, Kyle and Yost on some of the X-books, AND the Marvel cosmic books.

New York and LA peeps, Planet Hulk tickets for the January 14th showing are available now GO GO GO!

http://newyorkcomiccon.com/en/Events/Planet-Hulk/

Probably not going since seats are limited and it starts at 6:00 PM. I get off from work at 5:30, not enough time to shoot across town. Ah well, I’ll pick it up in February like everyone else. HULK SMASH!

The covers of the 70’s-80’s were just as misleading or irrelevant to the interior content as often as they are today.

Oh, to have rose colored nostalgic glasses.

Wednesdaaaaaaaayyyy!!!
Captain America:who will wield the shield- WTF MARVEL??? “the following story takes place after the events of Captain America Reborn #6 sorry” WHAT THE HELL

Thor #605: Well i had some doubts cause i wasn’t familiar with who Gillen is, but i have to say he continus to handle Thor AND Doom very well
Doom: "I was missing something’, what lies inside all you asgardians"
Thor: "The Odinforce"
Doom: "is that what you what you call the power i call it DOOM’s"
YEEEEEESSSSS

Fantastic Four #574: another great issue from Hickman he realy is Marvel most gifted writer ATM and it seems he is building for somethig realy big

Secret Warriors #11: yay Caselli is back and Hickman well i already said what i think about him Great issue and after re-reading the entire Agent of Nothing arc for some memory refreshment my respect for Hickman goes even higher you can realy see how ahead he is planning and how you need to pay attention to small stuff
I’m realy close to call SW the best Marvel book on the stands Great story, Great action, Great art (well if Caselli is drawing) and Fury is as bad-ass as Fury can get
Anyone who doesnt read, must read it

More thoughts soon FRANKEN-CASTLE CRIMINAAAAAAL!!!) damm busy week

i have a guestion. i read a character profile on APOCAYLPSE on marvel.com,and it said he can increase his strength to levels surpassing that of hulk.

i was like hell no. hulk who:confused:…there must more than one character named hulk in the marvel universe. IS APOCAYLPSE REALLY THAT STRONG?

Yes. Read the rest of his bio for a bunch of reasons why. Apocalypse turned Hulk into a Horseman of War. Not the other way around.

Only thing, the angrier Hulk gets the stronger he gets. Maybe he can take things to a new level of angry. Still not sure how that would stop Apocalypse from turning into a giant and squishing him. There’s a reason why Apocalypse ruled all of Egypt in Marvel’s past and the entire world in alternate reality futures. He is no joke.

FF 574- It was indeed awesome and aw yeah for Power Pack!

DA: Ares- Great finish for an awesome mini, Ares is the man

X-Men 231 was sweet- “Thank you, Magneto. It’s good to have you on my team. From now on, you can be in charge of stating the obvious.”- Nightcrawler

Thor 605 was indeed awesome too!

he is to pheonix:lol:. i read ultimate x-men number 18(i think it was 18) and she pawned his a–. it was funny cause he was owning everyone until she got involved.

Fraction’s Iron Man has made this a great decade by itself, then you pile on Waid and 'Ringo on FF, Hickman’s work, Dan Slott’s Mighty Avengers, plus Peter David and X-Factor.

Lamest decade…C’mon Son

^…and let us not forget
CRIMINAAAAAAL!!!

and all of Millar’s ICON works the re-shape of the cosmic universe from Abnett and Lanning and the list can go on and on
So to sum it all up this was a great decade
