Marvel Comics Thread

@Da game- I only read his Wolverine: MD mini which was quite fun IMO, but expect some generic chinese people in it ^_^;

YES DEAR?

Wait you’re still reading the B. Panther series? I stopped reading it after Hudlin was off the series. I’ll get back into it when a new writer comes.

Oh yeah how was Mark Millar’s F4 run?

Black panther went from epic to poo so quick.

I was highly disappointed with uncanny after being so good for the last 4 books…ah well.

Also i forgot how smart banner is, I really forgot he is on that hank, Richard level. After reading hulk 600-605 i remembered real quick

what really? The comments about the current writer is positive in comparison to Hudlin. From some reason peoples like the “turmoil” of BP and honestly I kind of like it too. He needed some humble pie imo.

Punisher #15 is gonna be fucking awesome (seriously!)

That shit is so bizarre, it’s awesome!

Just read NA #59, and i liked the book alot. I really like this whole norman in charge thing…I actually going to be said to see it end.

Also even tho the book is random, (sometimes good, sometimes sucky) I like the team build. Luke, ironfist, Ms marvel, spiderman, hawkeye, “captain america” etc etc

Yes FRANKEN-CASTLE will continue to be FRANKEN-AWESOME

Ms marvel and spiderman dating…

I highly doubt that’s gonna last lol, but that issue was pretty fun. Looking forward to Mystique fucking shit up for these last couple of chapters.

Ok Inhumans and everything which is fine and i realy trust Hickman, but the cover pic shows Blackbolt… why?
I realy hope he isn’t going to be there
ya know cause of War of Kings and all

Have faith in Hickman my friend, and let not continuity worry you about the outcome.

So I just had my first Marvel binge in forever, so far I started with Black Panther and this shit rocks, but judging from the couple posts above I hear it starts to suck later on which is a downer but whateva…

Anyway can you guys refer me to some good stuff?

Incredible Hercules & Thunderbolts (Start TB with the Warren Ellis books; Faith in monsters & Caged Angels) come to mind ATM.

So guys, for the most part, did you enjoy the 616-verse comics? I myself did TBH; these past 2-3 years of Marvel comic reading have been great.

Thunderbolts… It started off f just ok and became awesome. I say start from the start, it makes alot of the characters seem more personal

For the most part yes but there has been too much darkness and not enough light. On top of that, there’s a certain ‘fun’ factor that has been missing when you compare it to Marvel’s prior years. It’s been that way since Captain America died really. Hopefully next year’s ‘event’ the Heroic Age will last longer than one year and things will turn around for a while.

The Heroic Age, LOL! From the time Cap awoke from the ice, the Fantastic Four first formed, Spider-Man gained his powers, Hulk became Hulk, the X-Men formed etc. up until right now has ALWAYS been called the Heroic Age. At least they didn’t call the next event the ‘Modern Age’ the way Marvel Universe comics do, even thought it means the same exact thing. Ah well, just a name of an event I guess.

Well Cap’s death didn’t seem to affect my reading of the Marvel books TBH, or some books in general.
I do feel that whatever books are ‘dark’ seem to have a light side to them to make it seem ‘less dark’.
I mean the Avengers can be up against the biggest shitfest ever, but Spidey can still give me a laugh, making me see them get through this alright.

Marvel’s still not the same as it was in years past. Now I’m not saying that is necessarily a good thing or a bad thing, but something is missing. Mark McMillan said it best -

"Even if you look at the Marvel Universe around the middle of this Dark Reign stuff, which is really cool. I love this concept that Norman Osborn is sort of taking over as the leader of the free world, but it?s a bit depressing at the same time. We?ve had Captain America die, we?ve had heroes that used to be friends killing each other off in Civil War. I feel like we?ve lost a little bit of that sense of fun when it comes to comic books. I came into it in the age where Amazing Spider-Man, you know, Todd McFarlane was hiding little spiders on the covers of the books."

Pretty much exactly how I feel about Marvel right now.

For me Marvel became fun again when Spider-Man and Wolverine joined the Avengers. Then it was a bigtime downward spiral in terms of that old sense of fun, starting with Civil War really but Cap’s death really cast a shadow over everything. And then there’s Spidey’s deal with Mephisto. Sigh…

I’m not saying that following Dark Avengers or what have you isn’t fun in it’s own way because it is, in that whole “I’m gonna play Grand Theft Auto so I can set old ladies on fire MWAHAHAHAHA!” kind of way. It’s just that if you stay there too long everything becomes recongnizable over time. If it was only Dark Reign, sure. But things have been way too dark since they started Registration and it just keeps dragging on and on…

At least next year Cap, Thor and Iron Man will be in the Avengers most likely. You know, the way it should’ve been when New Avengers started. DIE BENDISENTRY, DIE! No not regular Sentry, BENDISENTRY! Bendis should never be allowed to use that character ever again. Seriously.

So we should have that old sense of fun before JQ decides “We gotta break these toys again so we can fix them back up again!” Causing Steve Ditko to make another long and confusing blog rant. 2009 has been a very interesting year.

Other things that have been wrong in the past few years - JQ’s ban on characters smoking is still stupid. If you’re stupid enough to pick up the habit because a fictional character does it than you deserve to get cancer and die, seeya!

Cursing has gotten way out of control. I don’t mind it once in a while but if I have to stop every 5 seconds to figure out what %#^ means it interupts my reading big time. If they can’t type in the curse than this should be limited.

I also miss ‘*See this issue’ comments but they are gone 'cuz JQ thinks it interupts your reading! Um, not as much as ‘fill in the blanks’ cursing IMHO. Can everyone at least sign off on typing @$$ to cut this down? OH WON’T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Good points, and I don’t have anything against your stance about it mind you.

I wonder if the death of some DC characters can be seen as an equivalent to Cap’s death, because I’m more sore about their death than Cap’s :looney:

It’s interesting that Marvel took Cap’s ‘vacation’ and turned it into a Captain America who carries a gun and kills people.

DC took Batman’s ‘vacation’ and eventually got to Batman and Robin, which is a hell of a lot of fun.

Nothing against Bru of course because Bucky Cap is great. It’s just that the approaches are really different. What happened with the new Cap wouldn’t be as bad (not that it’s that bad in itself mind you) if the entire universe wasn’t like that right now.
