The cops, legal system, and prison guards in the Marvel Universe are pretty incompetent, though. I think they’re the ones who are the root of the problem of the superheroes’ ineffectiveness. Can you imagine if prison breakouts happened as often in real life as in the comic book world? That’d be ridiculous. Or you’d have serial rapists and killers go into some mental institution with a revolving door, able to leave after a couple of sessions of therapy.
The superheroes put them in prison in the first place, but somehow the supervillains always end up escaping anyway. I agree that after maybe the second or third time the same villain has escaped, it’s time to sanction him for good, but they shouldn’t even be able to escape once!
Cyclops is my favorite Marvel character right now. He understands that desperate times call for desperate measures. If you’re a problem for him he’ll lock you up in his own prison like he did to Sebastian Shaw and Donald Pierce. If you’re an even bigger threat like the skrulls then he’ll infect you with the legacy virus. If you’re the biggest threat and can’t be reasoned with then he’ll send Wolverine, the Archangel of Death, and X-Force to kill you. The time for screwing around is over. He’s just trying to ensure that future generations of mutants live on and he’ll do whatever it takes to make that dream happen.
I agree as well. It is almost as if the cops just twiddle their thumbs until insert hero comes in to save the day. I remember reading amazing spiderman where a cop shot and he thought he killed one of the new villians in the first OMD arc. Spidey had the nerve to call him “trigger happy”. I was like are you serious? THAT IS A COP JOB is to shoot threats that could cause turmoil in the city. I mean come on did the writer actually led us to believe this garbage?
Truthfully, I dont like spidey holier than thou bullshit he spews. But then at the same time with his selfishness he can… ah fuck it :lol:
Cyclops is easily one of the most interesting characters in superhero comics(if you would have told me that as a kid I would have laughed and kicked you in the balls). Dude has serious balls, and when the shit hits the fan, “X-force, go kill them mothafuckers”. Despite all his critics, you can tell he really loves mutantkind, and there isn’t a line he won’t cross to ensure their survival.

In January a 4 issue series called ‘Seige’ will start that will mark the end of Norman Osborn’s reign. Written by Bendis. It’s supposed to shake up the Avengers’ world and bring Captain America, Thor and Iron Man back together.
…God-fucking-dammit. Copiel really is like the best artist in the industry…but I dunno if I want to buy another Bendis event…he’s not particularly good at them.

Heh yeah, that sounds about right. I just feel like I’m being punished for seeking out quality Spider-Man stories. It’s like, Marvel realizes that ASM is inferior so they raise the price on the UCSM out of a jealous rage. But yeah, the Bendis answer seems more logical. Either way, it’s total bull-shit.
