Marvel Comics Thread

I like Joe Mad, but I think I am getting tired of his art.

I just sighed after taking a look at that cover. It’s so 90’s.

I like it, but then, why is Magneto just floating there? I think I just need to take a super hero break and come back in a year and just be like “yo guys hook it up with the ill ass dope style trades” and go download them.

I’m so used to the old comic thread, I was about to start typing about how I should just get all the Johns GL trades and how I still have fables.

DAMN YOU COMIC FORUM!!!

I think it just depends who’s writing. Without Bru and Frac, an Iron Fist comic could be a snoozefest. Remember a couple of years ago when Marvel launched a solo Iron Fist comic? I forget the exact creative team, but the art and story direction seemed to me like Marvel wanted to tap into the Street Fighter comic zeitgeist. They tried to make an Iron Fist comic that was heavily influenced by martial arts and manga and Hong Kong comics. It was not good.

Azzarello/Corben’s Cage MAX series, on the other hand, was superb. He was pretty much a thuggish loner in that story but it worked great. And then we got what Bendis did with Cage in Alias and The Pulse and now New Avengers, and all that stuff is excellent.

That old school Heroes for Hire stuff is just a product of its time.

Slashy, you need to post more often. FAAAAAAABLES!!!11

I remember that Iron Fist relaunch. I think the writing was on par with Tod Defalco. And that’s not a compliment. But yeah, it was pretty bad and it definitely depends on the writer.

Fairly sure I said this before, but if you just want to go over there and speak in general about Marvel, DC, whatever you are buying no one’s stopping you. There’s a Fables thread too and a thread on TPBs. Whatever floats ya boat.

If you just miss the way things were, I dunno. I can only speak for myself that my job is a lot more fun now. Back when this was just for Studio Udon’s comics there wasn’t much to talk about lately with Udon being busy working on video games and stuff, it was just the ongoing Action Figure thread which has never needed modding ever and prolly never will and that was it.

Hey like Batman and Nightwing told Tim Drake Robin in Batman The Animated Series, “Things Change.” Oh snap I related this post to comics kind of! No wait a minute, this is the Marvel thread - DOH! How 'bout “With great power comes great responsibilty.” I dunno, that quote works for everything… I think… well you have the power to post, okay reaching…

Other Marvel books I read other than that Wolverine issue - which was TERRIBLE ONE OF THE WORST COMICS EVA!!!

Amazing Spider-Man - For a story I wasn’t crazy about I quite liked how Kingpin vs. Spider-Man turned out, suprise suprise. I do think KP could of done a lot better though, I’ve seen him handle himself really well in the past against Spidey. I’ll just chalk it up to Spidey’s latest power boost or something lol!

Mighty Avengers - Say word Iron Man has a contingency plan!

Iron Man - Say word Iron Man has a contingency plan!

Incredible Hulk - Good stuff with Rick Jones!

Sensational Spider-Man - THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT man AWESOME Eddie Brock story! They just gotta work on getting him that symbiote back or a knock off version but this story was hella great!

Spider-Man Fairy Tales - Oh snap Samurai Spider-Man! You know I gave him Himura Kenshin’s of Rurouni Kenshin’s Japanese voice when I read him, swapping out any English words with Japanese ones that I knew of in my head! And oh yeah used all the Rurouni Kenshin OVA music in my head too. Fairy Tales books rule! :rocl:

Uncanny X-Men - Man Mystique is a riot! As for Endangered Species -

Endangered Species

Spoiler

Didn’t care much for Dark Beast but when they slaughtered all of those concentration camp Muties that was pretty ill right there. There may have been more than 198 Mutants until that point oooh…

Onslaught Reborn - Artwork’s not worth talking about like always… As for the story, the Captain America vs. Iron Man fight was interesting because you could compare it to Civil War a bit. Everything else about the story… um… I think I crapped too much on Loeb’s Wolverine so I don’t want to spread that much hate on the guy in one week so my lips are sealed.

Save yourself some grief and money, stop reading Loeb’s crap. Unless he’s doing something with Sale it’s best not to read his stuff.

sano would have bought Onslaught Reborn if it were Claremont/Liefeld. Because I MARRIED A MORAN

Nah because Onslaught was a boss in a Capcom game. I am lots of things but hard to figure out I think not.

Ok, couple quick Qs.

  1. What’s the deal with the android Human Torch?

  2. Why wasn’t Matt Murdock Daredeviling during the Civil War? Why was Iron Fist Daredevil for a while?

Sano I thought you knew about the slaughtering that took place up at Neverland it happend up in the Weapon X mini back in 02. (when they made Wildchild EMO)

  1. DD was running on the lowdown in Europe while Civil War was all happening, his reasons for being in europe was to find out who killed his buddy Foggy (though his murder was actually just an attempted murder and he still lives).

So onslaught reborn is shit so far. Always clenched teeth.

Nah, he was out by then. They caught Danny and thought he was the real DD.

I always thought they were a cool and dynamic team, different but close friends. I would like to see a serious take on them, maybe a limited series (Brubaker should write, only guy in comics I can trust currently lol).Iron Fist is one of my all time fav’s, and was the one character I followed during Civil War (As DD, good substitute.) other than Cap of course.

Cage did guest star in a couple of issues of the first arc of Immortal Iron Fist, along with Misty Knight and Colleen Wing.

thor, again, seems just like another teaser. i mean i know they have to establish some shits, but come the fuck on dudes. next issue looks to be the truth.

Picked up WWH and New Avengers Illuminati.

WWH was a good read. Although did any of us really think General Ross posed any sort threat at all to the Hulk?

New Avengers was also a good read. Typical Bendis issue with a lot of dialogue… but it was all interesting for the most part. Jim Cheung is making his way up on my artist list.

Special thanks to Kahn of Newsarama. Hella great link on Spider-Man continuity and how old he is - 30 - despite JQ saying the Marvel Universe is only seven years old which would make him 22-23 since he became Spider-Man during his 15th/16th year lol! Well, just gotta take the time thing as you will. Check it out -

Another Marvel question.

What exactly caused the falling out between Microchip and the Punisher? In Max, the Punisher adopted a shoot-on-site policy for him…what’d he do?

does liefeld ever draw any backgrounds? all i saw in the bg of the cap/iron prick fight was blue in the back. are they fighting in the sky? i didn’t know cap could fly.
