Marvel Comics Thread

Pleae please please Marvel no late minute delay on TTTTTHHHHHHOOOORRRR!!! 601
Wednsday God is using Ipod (gotta get the variant)

It sucks that JMS and Marvel are not on good terms :frowning:

How do you figure that?

It prob. has to do with his work on Supreme Power. I remember reading that he had some issues with what Marvel wanted him to do in the series that he didn’t want. Hence why we got that cliffhanger in #7, and then we got this new series.

Bullshit. JMS said himself that he didn’t know what to do with the series so he up and left. If anything Marvel has been too lenient on his old self-entitled ass.

Supreme Power was the problem? It has nothing to do with the fact that they forced him to shit on his own entire Spider-Man run with One More Day?

EDIT:

FROG THOR!?!

I like how the interview does absolutely nothing to explain the series at all, and yet it makes me want it even more.

Ha, Man-Eating Jungle Kitty Vs. The Red Baron - that’s just plain old good nostalgic fun.

What’s the roster? Lockjaw, Lockheed, Frog Thor, Speedball’s cat…and Sam Wilson’s bird?

There was a big argument about it, but JMS wanted to retcon the last 20 + years out of existence and JQ wanted to ‘slightly edit’ all of the books with Peter and MJ just living together and not married.

In short JMS was ready to shit on his own entire run. The main thing with him was he wanted to get rid of Osborn’s kids with Gwen. Last thing Marvel said about them, they are still around. But yes both JMS and JQ wanted to get rid of the marriage and both stories involved a deal with Mephisto. The main argument was about the way it was done. JMS wanted to do it in a more logical way then how it went down.

The other thing was JMS came up with his idea at the eleventh hour, and it would of contradicted a bunch of BND issues that were already done - they’d pretty much have to throw those issues away and start from scratch if JQ went with his way. Spidey would be delayed for a bunch of months to suit JMS’ change.

I haven’t heard JMS go into detail about exactly what he wanted to do, I kind of suspect it was something major like making it so Gwen Stacy never died in the first place. And something like that would prevent / delay Spidey marrying MJ. He did say he wanted to make one change in the past that would alter everything that happened today. Again, not sure how JMS wanted to do it but something like that would alter way more comics that were not Spider-Man.

I don’t think it was a problem really or that argument caused bitter feelings between him and Marvel, I mean he’s still working there afterall - see Morrison… It’s just regular stuff people go through when they are writing big name characters. This one just got a lot of press is all.

He went through far worse when it came to “The Other” which he planned as a one/two year arc written solely by him in ASM. Marvel didn’t want the story to take that long so they split the story between 2 other writers. I haven’t heard any writer ever say that they like writing “2 of 12” and later “6 of 12.” The story suffered for it… A lot.

It sounds like every experience JMS ever had writing for anybody. You should watch The Real Ghosbusters DVD set commentaries and hear him talk just for laughs. “I HAVE TO WRITE FOR SLIMER! FUUUUCK!”

Didn’t he write that Gwen Stacy/Osborn arc himself?

Wow, I had completely forgotten about it too - that was completely insane. And the rest of his run was so good…just for whatever reason, he blacked out for five issues.

Yes.

He originally wanted the kids to be Peter’s and not Norman’s, but Marvel Editorial said to change it or scrap the story.

I thought some of his run was okay, but he made Spider-Man unrecognizable after a while with the retarded extra powers and the totem stuff.
He should have been writing an elseworlds mini instead of the flagship title.

Covers like this bring tears to my eyes

Tears of joy or sadness?

Doom and Thor on the same cover what do you think?

Tears of blood!

:clown:

I think Sano nailed it in a way. I’m still pissed that the previous Supreme Power series ended with #7, and to top it off, THE TWELVE IS ON FUCKING HIATUS!

@Lint- Yup, there’s also Firestar’s pet cat as well I think.

…and Doctor, be optimistic, homie!

Linty, here’s what looks like a cover for one of the issues for Lockjaw-

Oh yes, me likey!

Devil Dinosaur!?! Perhaps a Zabu appearance? They’re pulling out all the stops for this one. When’s this coming out?

Also, I don’t see Firestar’s cat anywhere…I didn’t even know she had a cat. You spoiled it for me! Sano, please ban.

Devil Dinosaur, wow! Gonna have to pick that up!

I didn’t know she had a cat either, so chill the fuck out.

I see a discussion about Firestar’s cat somehow requires ban requests and cursing people out. Never would’ve happened with Miss Lion. :razzy:

I am now completely unable to enjoy this future delightful miniseries now that I not only know the actual name of Firestar’s cat, but that the aforementioned cat also actually makes an appearance in one or more of these comic books.

This is absolutely unacceptable to me!

My entire adult life up to this point has been anticipating the first appearance of Firestar’s cat. And now I learn that not only has the first appearance already been spoiled for me in that I now know that it exists, and the cat has an actual first appearance, but the second appearance may be spoiled for me as well!

This forum is a complete joke. Sano please take some damn responsibility for the blockheads that post under your jurisdiction.
