Makoto Ultra SFIV

I got to #3 makoto last night. Had to work this morning so I had to cut it off early. I think I may be keeping her as an alternate, it might be kneejerk reaction but I don’t think shes viable anymore.I’ll stick with it for a couple of weeks.

Would it be wrong to start an Ultra SFIV Combo thread? I’ve been playing a little, and I’ve got some beginner level combos I’ve been working on (I sure as heck am no expert.)

Not sure if I’m reading this right, but looks like Karakusa’s damage was slightly buffed?

Was playing with the ex fukiage to j.hp reset. After the dash when you land, you have a similar mixup to yang where if you duck the opponent goes over you and you end up on the same side. If you stay standing after you cross under, you end up on the other side. This was working against Yun.

TLDR: After the cross-under of a ex fukiage reset, you can force a left/right mixup by ducking similar to Yang.

Normal does 40, EX does 60. Nothing changed there.

Really got to hit the lab for delayed wake-up setups, it serves it’s purpose of throwing you off your game. What is the frame data for makotos hard knockdowns?

How accurate is Makoto’s frame data in the Brady Games app?

I was wondering why i would end up same side after hitting such deep jump hp, How high do you need to hit them in the air for this mixup? Id try it now but I’m at work haha

you guys seen this yet? apparently, you don’t loose the ultra bar when you get hit out of ultra 2 with ultra w

Okay something is definitely changed about Karakusa. There is no way I should be having this much trouble getting Ultra to come out after it. I dunno what it is but something’s different.

Hm, I have no trouble landing it. Though I didn’t play her too much before.

What do you guys think about her tier ranking? Is she bottom something? Top 15/20? Im picking her up again, but it’ll suck if it’ll be a struggle fest all the time lol

Maybe it’s what they did to the netcode I dunno. But as of the night before Ultra I was hitting it just fine but now it’s a total crapshoot.

I don’t like what they did with the netcode. in the middle of a fight i’ll see a message saying waiting for other players. oh, and when it slows down it really slows down. I can’t seem to time my cr mk aa at all, either that or hurt/hit box been messed with?
seriously, you guys getting any trouble with cr mk?

I was getting it at about mid-height. Super late didn’t really work as well for me.

YEah I’ve been thrown out of back throw also :D. Complete BS. Well I guess we’ll have to use f.throw more often.

Net code hasn’t been terrible for me. Games are either perfect or terrible tho. More great games than before.
Ultra after karakusa has been consistent for me (except for the one time i got EX.fuki, but that combos now thank the gods!)

I do keep getting f.HP instead of EX.fuki, but I’m pretty positive that’s just me rushing it.

Damn, you beat me to it, and yours is probably better too.
Anyway, you can get the same effect by pressing a button after you dash under them, she will face the opponent in the air and crossunder, getting you a meaty S.Mp 50/50. So, EX Fukiage late J.Hp dash S.Lp S.Mp. The timing on J.Hp decides what side you will end up on. Dunno of it works on the entire cast.

This has been tolerable until earlier. A Balrog kept throwing out rush punches on me. Every single time he did it, the connection box would pop up as I was trying to poke him out of it. He hit me every time.

This has been screwing with me. Not used to the timing of having to press forward after a s.HP.

On a side note, has Poison been giving people problems after EX. Fukiage? She is pissing me off more than Elena right now when it comes to believing I should have hit her.

Makoto was one of the best in AE. It was still a struggle. I don’t see that changing too much. The only difference now is I believe we are rewarded a bit more than before for our risks. However, I still think other Risk/Reward characters get the better end of the stick in this system.


I’ve been flat out disgracing Makoto in recent matches. I must be the only Makoto in hovering between #1-5 that’s so low on PP. Lol…I keep getting destroyed by Rolentos, Decapres, and Hugos. I also keep dropping crucial combos after Karakusa…which should end it. There are a few other character giving me trouble right now, but I should know how to play against them already.

FFSS EX Fuki xx stuff is like a Viper combo now. When I switch from both characters I do the feint ther wrong way sometimes haha
The annoying part of the combo is that you don’t go to a crouching normal before doing EX Fuki, so it’s pretty tight to get it fast enough.
