btw, something I found interesting. The issue with Makoto’s fj.MK isn’t even the hitbox size. It is actually due to Makoto’s pushbox getting in the way because they put the hitbox too high up.
Fukiage hits grounded opponents would be pretty god damn broken, interesting, but broken.
It’s the only way this would potentially make sense. Is it an educated guess or did you talk to Combofiend at EVO too?
Non EX fukiage would just be beyond broken and would render hayate completely useless. Hell, even if it’s only EX Fukiage it would be broken. That would mean we can do fierce>Ex Fukiage>HP Fukiage>Ex Tsurugi midscreen. Basically our corner combo from anywhere.
IMO the change would only make sense if the idea is to make EX fukiage a reversal.
Actually it reminds me of an idea I had a while ago, but it would require even more additionnal changes, since the long non-invulnerable dash part would make the move really ackward to watch and use. The idea I had in mind:
make EX fukiage a 2 hit move, the dash part would be the first one, hit grounded, and be active after ~7-8 frames and would put the opponent in juggle state. The upward punch would be the second hit, airborn only, and add another juggle ‘counter’. Which means if EX Fukiage hits airborn opponent with upward punch only you can follow with another fukiage and EX Tsurugi (just like now), but if it’s used grounded (as a reversal or in combo after a fierce etc) you could only follow with EX Tsurugi.
I doubt they will go that route tho, but I’ve a hard time seeing how it could make sense otherwise.
Yeah, being able to combo into fukiage would just be dumb and overpowered. I cant see someone like combofiend asking for that, we are definitely missing something here.
The point of grounded fukiage cant be combos, I also assume they are trying to give her a reversal special.
Anyway it would imply a huge fukiage juggle/damage nerf or an hybrid approach like the one you enounced.
But it would be kinda strange seeing Makoto being given a reversal while ex oroshi is also being buffed.
So… well yeah, I dont understand either what they are trying to achieve with fukiage. :s
That’s exactly what people are saying here, this buff is too good and design-changing to be true, so we shouldnt go over-excited about it. There are necessarily other changes tied to it or there is a misunderstanding from the start.
Tell me that is “fair” she can corner carry over half the stage off of a command grab. It fundamentally changes her options and makes her signficantly stronger. She is able to corner carry more, her mid screen damage is massively increased (the standard mid screen combo of s.HP - s.MP - EX Hayate is only about 240 while she can get WAY more doing s.HP - s.MP - EX Fukiage - HK Axe Kick which would also net a knockdown.)
Except Makoto isn’t so far down that she needs a major game changing buff like that. The better crossup, more health, throw invincible EX Oroshi are more in line with the kind of changes she needs. Completely game changing massive buffs like this are things that should be given to characters who are struggling like THawk, Blanka, or Deejay.
Hey, like I said earlier the change would be interesting. Broken but interesting. Its a lot more fun, it makes her a combo machine, and it gives her cool new tools. But it’s simply not balanced unless they tone down her damage and corner carry overall.
I seem to remember Combofiend saying that Mak is one of the most balanced characters currently on one of the challenge Capcom streams…that fukiage change doesn’t feel consistent with that sentiment. Outside of the rest of the cast getting hugely buffed along with Mak, I can’t see how this will help balance the game more than it is currently.
But what the hell, like Mossad…I would love to try that out. Gimme like 3 or 4 different crazy Mak builds to mess around with Capcom! Preferably one that let’s me choke people more…cause c’mon, karakusa is Mak’s most iconic move for sure. I don’t want it to become fukiage.
I think you guys are all freaking out over nothing. There is no guarantee that you’re going to be able to juggle from a fukiage ground hit. It probably would work like an SRK in the sense that you can fadc it to make it safe but it wouldnt be optimized as a combo extension. Thats probably to give you more options against characters that are crazy mixup heavy on wakeup like hakan and akuma. Relax. I really doubt you’re going to be able to juggle from the ground–and even if you can it’ll be meter inefficient (lol @ fukiage fadc hayate). They’re going to behave differently for sure (if its actually true)
