True, but it took me by surprise because I was trying to hit him with it. Instead, it just stuck a giant block of ice in the way of everything.
Well its good to know either way, you never know when you might need protection from chip damage. Thanks for sharing.
Is whirlwind decent at techtraping?
okay so here we go. I got a question about her instant over head is there any better way to do it than up, up , S double tapping it or doing to quick either make nothing happen but to slow you jump to high.
Very high risk for very small pay-off. I wouldn’t use it like that.
Do it correctly. It works if you do that…
Just wondering which assists you guys like most when fighting as Storm, for attacking or running. I’ve been using a lot of Akuma and Sent, and do love the tatsu as an enabler, but wanted to check and see what other options are out there that people like. Tron fire is probably great with Storm, and no doubt Dante (weasel and jam) and Doom (any) are good too.
Any particular assists you guys find make Storm shine the brightest? I dig Akuma in my 2-slot, but am open to other ideas if they make Storm even better.
Did you guys know as it turns on in a team based game you can play both?
Did you even read his entire post? Like really? Or is your day not complete without being a dick atleast once or something? The man is simply asking for other opinions on assists and you can’t even answer the simple question. Honestly some people. Unless of course you weren’t even talking to him, in which case please accept my apoligies and ignore the rude part of this post.
@Guile: I like any assist the either helps keep away or rush down with storm since she is capable of both, but isn’t really effective at either without an assist. So anything from coldstar/hurricane kick/drones/lightning legs(these in particular are really good, go check out pr rogs team, he uses them really well), to jam session/molecular shield/dark harmonizer for the keep away/run away.
Plus, and i might be the minority in this, but you can try running storm with an OTG/low hitting assist, outside of her hypers she has not a single OTG attack so that could help her get more damage outta her combos and maybe help her mix-up game, not really sure bout the latter though. Of course this is all just my opinion so anyone who knows better should feel free to correct me.
OTG assist will help lengthen/strenghthen combos before using the elemental rage->DHC trick.
Personally, I like wesker, since he’s also on the other end of the glitch.
c.ABC, jump BBC, land BCE, SJ BCE, land (call wesker), C,E, SJ CE, land, elemental rage,
DHC Rhino Charge
OTG sam edge, c.ABC into whatever you want.
Cool good to know Im not completely talking out my ass.
I too thought ColdBrand was responding to me like a misguided dick, but then I went back and have been reading the last couple pages of this thread and think he may have been weighing in on the Magneto vs Storm discussion. In which case his response was snarky but not all that offensive heh
The assist advice is good. I didn’t think of Cold Star. And yeah Chun’s assist is perrrrfect… only problem is I have zero interest in using Chun outside of that beautiful assist, especially as anchor lol yeah Wesker would be great too (nice combo, renegade), though I’m not as confident with him on point as I am Akuma. So I’d prob either practice him, or figure if it aint broke dont fix it with Akuma. I’d probably sooner learn to play point with Tron tho than wesker or Chun. If sticking w/ Akuma my question would become what’s the best combo we’ve got off a landed tatsu into launch?
Another angle could be to open with Trish with the idea of making them block a disc then tagging in Storm (Wesker is sick here too, though I’d rather anchor Sent) and mixing up. So many ideas. All I know is I’m strategically and tactically in love with Storm. And I feel like not playing Sent is a mistake, for better or worse. So I’ve just been thinking about who would go well with them, why, and in what order. May just stick w/ Storm Akuma Sent, or I might even go with the ol Storm Sent Phoenix and call it a day lol I love phoenix conceptually, but am not that interested in Phx mirrors and losing to snapbacks. Decisions decisions
I’m personally getting good mileage out of any good lock down assist (e.g. Ammy Cold Drones, Sent Star Force). It’s kind of basic, but a low risk, long block/hit stun assist is both versatile and gives you an opportunity to figure out what you what to do next.
I’m also having fun with Trish and her traps. Storm’s keepaway is only good because of Whirlwind, so secondary defenses are nice.
On a side note, I’m appreciating Elemental Rage as a counter to a lot of naked supers nowadays. It’s always good to know that you can counter an errant Hyper Sentinel Force or Stalker Flame without having to try to work in the start up of a Hail Storm.
Right now, I’m running Wesker’s beta assist (Low Shot) and Dante’s beta assist (Crystal). Wesker’s assist choice is just because it’s his “default”; I’m only learning Storm now, so I haven’t figured out exactly what I can do with the OTG. She has a really nice overhead, though, so at least I can use it for unblockables. Dante’s assist choice is mainly because I find it really good for Wesker combos/resets, but it seems like Storm can also make pretty good use of its zoning abilities.
I run a team with Chun in the back, just for Legs assist, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Chun assist is a huge plus for Storm (and for my 2nd, X-23), but having Chun in the back, fighting on her own… it’s no good.
It’s definitely possible to make Storm/Chun work, but you WILL be working 9 times harder than you would have to if you just put Sent back there, and it’ll only be half as effective.
Exactly. I want so badly to use Chun assist, but can’t imagine myself successful with Chun as an anchor. Same with Tron to a lesser extent. ive been pretty happy w/ Akuma assist, though. My main gripe is it carries them so far forward so fast it’s hard to get to the other side to sandwich them. Tron assist is probably much better, but I’m so much more confident with Akuma as a point.
Well chun is pretty insane in lvl 3 x-factor mode, much more difficult to block than a lot of characters, plus PR Rog placed 4th at winter brawl running chun on anchor so it can’t be that bad. Finally its ridiculously easy to hit confirm off the lightning legs assist into a combo of your choosing, unlike the akuma assist. Just try it out why not? Its not like your playing in evo or something, test it out and see whats good, I am of the camp that believes sentinel is rather over-rated as an anchor anyway, since he seems to have some pretty bad match-ups, at least at the moment.
You know that’s not a bad idea. Might as well at least try Chun out. I mean I really think I could do some good stuff w/ that assist. just not sure if I could do so well with anchor-Chun. Who knows, maybe she’ll be my best char! lol (She’s my best by farrrr in ST)
It’s funny, I always found SF4 Rog kinda boring so I never cared much about PR Rog. Then I saw him using Storm Dante Chun and was like “I fuckin love this guy!!” lol
His team is pretty fun to watch, he has a good understanding of the game and I hope he sticks to it(he seems to hate the game, but who doesn’t at this point right?), but in reference to running chun-li as an assist, if you can get the hang of not getting your assist busted open you can actually put chun as second(I generally don’t recommend it cause you can lose a LOT of red life from a few mistakes) but you can try that out as well, just test out different orders and see what works out best for your team.
why not Storm/Hsienko? it takes some time to set up, but you get an invincible forward advancing assist.
I ran Storm/HsienKo/Sent for a good while, and I think the team works really well together.
If you’re ballsy, you can start Hsien, and have numerous ways to get out of there w/ hyper armor still on.
(combo into hyper armor DHC hail works).
But with the new DHC glitch, I think that’s leaving a LIttle on the table. You should combo into elemental rage->DHC armor, one gong loop, launch, then DHC into someone else, tag, or crossover aerial combo.
