MAKE IT RAIN! - The Storm Thread

She can pass thru the opponent in many cases. After a throw is the easiest. Not sure about the exact properies.

Storm is GDLK.

Yeah, I noticed that in a few vids. Interesting stuff…

Interesting, makes me think of a few more chip shenanigans with her (Hail Storm DHC Phoenix Healing Shield, wait for Advancing Guard, teleport in for unblockable shenanigans and healing).

So… anyone have any thoughts on anti-Storm strategies? She’s worrying me a bit, actually, because I’ve been counting on this game not having a small handful of characters that are huge outliers from the rest of the cast. It seems like she has a whole lot of strengths and basically no weaknesses (yeah, she’s got lower-end health, but not nearly as low as someone with all the tools she’s got maybe ought to have). What are some speculative Storm counters? So far, the best I can think of can be summed up as “Wesker.”

Side note: I did notice that when Marn started mashing pushblock against the hail storms he started taking wayyy less chip. Anyone else see that?

It seems like all hypers that “make” something are like that. For Ammy she stops “making” elements after she tags out, but stuff like Mags’ tempest stays out, etc. It seems uber-broken in the case of ice storm.

It doesn’t hit at all in the very top corner, but you have to be so high few characters will probably be able to take advantage.

Why are people so scared of Storm? Its not like she can just runaway and build meter like MVC2.
Its a bad thing if she’s wasting meter on just chip damage cause eventually she has got to attack to build that meter up. Her specials come out slower as well.

It’s that she has complete freedom in when she can avoid and attack you.

Also she really does have no weaknesses that I can think of. Probably the most powerful all-around character in the game. Not a bad thing at all, it’s good to have at least one really strong character in a Versus game lol.

I don’t think it’s good at all. In fact it’s worse the fewer you have. By definition, that kind of situation narrows the scope and versatility of the game.

Having one really good character doesn’t really do much in a team based game where, even if you have that one good character, the teams based around them will likely be quite varied.

What about MAKE IT RAIN~!

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of people are consistently dropping her air combos once they get her launcher going? And not just scrubs, either. It seems like people who know what they are doing are having a hard time getting to the lightning attack in her aerial raves. Did the timing for them change drastically?

well acoring to whoever was doing cometry at the ces secrect toruny said that storm jumps higher than she launches so its a bit weird to land hits propperly after a launch compared to the other characters

i think it was something like that anyways

i think the problem is what buttons they’re using. most people are trying ABCE or ABCxxLA, but i think more successful series’ are BBCE and BBCxxLA. sj.A looks like it has a really tiny hitbox and throws your trajectory off.

I’m wondering if air rave -> lightning storm is still worth it outside of starting a DHC. It doesn’t look like it has the same bite like it had before. And Hail Storm is definitely looking more attractive overall. Still, we’ll have to wait and see I guess.

Storm’s launch combos are awkward and do take getting used to.

In trial mode it shows that Lauch, B,B,C into LA, Thunderstorm works, but I find just doing 2 lights into lightning attack more easier. Oh and yeh it doesn’t quite have the same bite.

Her other two supers are much better to DHC into or from - damage wise.

the other super is the wind/ice one? ive never seen anybody use it at all how dose it work?

Yeh, ground only- managed to hit it in an otg, but cause its not in her mvc2 movelist just plain forgot about it when I was playing, so not sure about the ins and outs of the move unfortunately.

dose it have do any damage if its blocked?

The one time I used it, it connected so I am not sure. I would imagine if the first hit doesn’t connect the rest doesn’t follow.

From what I can tell… In Comic-Con Build (and earlier), everyone had the same launcher/super jump properties and timings as everyone else, kind of like TvC. In the TGS build, this changed and I found my self dropping air combo after air combo. I think it changed to simulate MvC2 in the way that every character has their own properties, their own super jump speeds, their own arcs, so that proper timing is required (most likely air attacks have to be delayed till later in the super jump) in order to land a complete air combo. It’s not as simple as pressing A, B, C, E, A, B, C, you now are likely to have to press A, B, C, E, wait, A, B, C.

The way I see it, when you land E on someone, you’re able to super jump before the opponent is actually launched into the air…
