Maj quits and thanks eventhubs for stealing!

Great reference lol

It’s funny cause they said they didn’t know posting embedded jdeos was harmful because SRK and IPW do it… Exactly. SRK did it so EventHubs just follows suit to cash in on the mainstream success of SFIV

…where does it say use cr. mp as an anti-air? quote please. Also I was a pretty damn good Vega player, and this was just to help everyone get started. It’s all basic information and some intermediate level information. I believe anything high level about Vega generally is just knowing matchups to be honest. There are maybe a few things I have to go back and add but like I said, I wrote it all and did it myself.

back on the issue with maj

I mentioned before he would have to disable embedding, like someone else mentioned as well. There, problem solved. All the views for him.

In case you didn’t know, the site was founded on Third Strike and HD Remix information. Maj doesn’t care if SRK and IPW do the exact same thing because he wants SRK and IPW to come out on top. So rather than just say that straight he’d rather attack on an issue which no website or user up til yesterday though was contentious… embedding video. It’s low.

Anyway someone asked earlier what the purpose of Eventhubs was. I’d say it was to provide a nice entryway to new players to understand how some games work and how certain characters play. Unfortunately updates have been a little slower to each game section. The only one I can currently say is complete is the TvC section.

…and the short bus has arrived, apparently. Is your helmet falling into your vision and preventing you from seeing that event hubs is making money off of stolen content? Or is that just one of the repercussions of having a diet consisting solely of glue and feces? You’re obviously not getting your recommended daily intake for nutrition, so allow me to reccommend that you supplement your diet by eating a dick.

You just made the same damn argument movie makers and music artists used to try and take down youtube and the new york times and newsweek used to try and take down huffington post.

It wasn’t valid for them, with real money, real cash, real lawyers, and content that actually mattered. So it certainly isn’t valid for a pissing match over a video game. :looney: “people is viewing my content on a superior information hub, they don’t go to mine”

I mean, it sucks for him, but he’s talking about and throwing up the same “I’m taking my ball and going home” that just about every content creator on the internet has done before.

EH 90% of the time has the latest info and news up asap. Right there in the news section. Be it rumors, new frame date or events. I never check there guides, or any of that if it’s not linked on the front page in the news. IPW usually has the exclusive vids and behind the scenes stuff on fighters before they drop and pretty good interviews and some guides, so I hit up them every once in awhile for that

Srk (now, because of the front page updates which is alot like EH) has everything. So this is where everything connects.

I don’t know who’s doing what for the love of money or for the game. But either way don’t get mad if you choose a lane to drive and see someone passing you by doing the opposite of what you’ve shed blood over

The love of the fight and dedication of the players is what keep the fgc alive for so long with nothing. The influx and implantation of things new is what will take this thing to the next level

Event Hubs vilified? Great! Hopefully Kotaku’s next. We need to get Dr. B on this shit.

Here he goes again trying to equate eventhubs and YouTube. It’s like watching a kid play connect the dots, but with Japanese numbers, and he ends up with Itagaki’s face instead of a flower.

I had no idea the RIAA and MPAA were having YouTube take down videos because YouTube was making money off ad revenue as opposed to just copyrighted material being used without permission. Makes we worry my pants off for sites like Hulu, storing all that copyrighted material and making revenue off ads. What next? People making a P2P program to share movies and music and viruses and making money from it and getting shut down?

So, what you’re saying here is, that when it comes to content that matters, involving real money, real cash (holy redundancy, Batman), that it’s “invalid” to want to keep that content from being used in unauthorized places? Also, by saying their content “actually matters”, you just said that Maj’s content doesn’t matter. Way to be condescending there.

Is “invalid” even the right word for this?

So he should just keep playing the game, and losing money, while someone who’s not even on the team gets all the rewards just for copying it? He should just resign himself to that? Ok, that sounds totally fair and logical and imperative to the balance of the universe.

And I’m sure you’ve been to every content creator’s website on the face of the Earth to have compiled a list showing that almost every one of them has “taken their ball and gone home” in a situation like this. Care to post that? Are we talking about 80% - 90% of the websites that have existed? Or are you just talking 100% out of your ass?

Except movie makers, music artists etc all still have huge incentive to keep pushing out content because despite what youtube does, they still make a shit ton of money. Maj doesn’t have that luxury since he’s actually having to PAY money to produce content, then it gets taken by EH who then MAKES money off of the content. No one is saying what EH did was illegal, but to act like Maj has no right to be angry when other people are making money off his content while he PAYS money to put the content up is ridiculous.

Catalyst should have asked Maj to post his work. Maj should have approached Catalyst and tried to resolve the problem earlier, instead of sitting on it and dropping a bomb when he’s ready to quit. There are wrongs on both sides of this issue.

This is Big Shel from Fighter’s Fury. I saw it were EH put up the links to all my SB5 interview videos and didn’t credit me, however I let it ride. I am now working on where I can host my own videos on my site and dont have to use youtube for it. That way, if some one steals or do not credit my work, I can go after them legally and it’s a open shut case. Also when I worked for www.Thekoaliton.com, it was mandatory to credit the source, because we didnt want to get sued or discredited. I wish the best for EH, but if they continue down this route, they are in for a world of trouble (I.E: legal issues).

This.

Seriously…

No.

There is a difference between SRK news feed and EH. I’ve already explained the difference. You ignorance is clearly showing since you seem to be completely ignoring those differences.

People like to throw their weight around on the internet if they have fans. Eventhubs does it, and DSP does it more. Shane Dawson does it even more, they say, “You may disagree with me, but my hundred thousand plus suscribers back me and will make your life miserable” That is a near direct quote from some of these people who think they own the internet thanks to youtube/google. Its sad and sometimes they infringe upon freedom of speech itself.

So if Eventhubs gives Maj a position on the site, and funds his videos, will that make everything about the issue between Maj and Eventhubs okay?

Downloading music for your own enjoyment, and taking someone’s work passing it off is as yours is two completely different thing.

Unless you’re implying we download free music and then say we made the music are you? (sarcasm)

Edit: Ah shit I didn’t even read O.C post. He hit the nail on the coffin why I even bother.

Maybe Maj can make sort of preview videos, like short 15 seconds intros + combos that ends with “Visit Sonic Hurricane to see the rest!” and the other news aggregate sits (SRK, IPW, EH) can promote the video with that and then a link to the story directly on SH with the full video. It still takes some effort from the other sites to play it fair, but they get the news and some video content and Maj can get the direct link to help cover some of his expenses

I read the original post on SH and some of the comments. It looks like Maj never once mentioned anything to Catalyst, who apparently runs EH and the two had met before. Now that everything is out there, it doesn’t even matter who contacted who or if anything was discussed. EH obviously now knows the issues, and Maj should be able to get in contact with these guys, so we’ll find out pretty soon about everyone involved. Obviously EH should know that they aren’t authorized to direct embed and their sources are not being credited like they should be. So EH definitely has to take steps to fix this.

Maj also needs to do a better job of opening communication. And if he already has but has been ignored, that puts the blame entirely on EH and we know what type of people they are.

I’m going to give people the benefit of the doubt, but if I am EH, I address this directly with a big, conspicuous article/post on the main page explaining my position and what I would be doing going forward, and reiterate that I want to see the community thrive and respect people like Maj who contribute to it.

To be honest, maj probably could have done things a lot differently. I used to post on HerV and that’s where maj posted earlier in the decade mostly. He also has some connection to Viscant (who I think has disappeared somewhere). maj had very poor people skills and would come off as a total dick at least online. The guy contributes a lot to the scene, no question, but he needs to improve his people skills as far as I can tell. It’s a lesson to be learned going forward, dealing with people is a huge component to business and making money. Seth pretty much IS Capcom marketing USA and that’s all with dealing with people, getting a gameplan, and then imposing it on everyone else.

I have a question. How is compiling all information from various places in a manner that is appealing to the eye and readable NOT contributing? It takes some time and some effort to find all this shit and put it together, and sometimes fighting gamers dont have the time to be looking thru page after page on a forum to find shit. So what if original content is lacking, as a whole EH has brought more people into the community because of its ease of access. You guys ever do a term paper? Wouldn’t you like to have all the information one one page rather than looking thru endless google pages?

And don’t you DARE say it isnt about money, cuz it is. Maj is probably suffering financially right now and he pins the blame on EH. If Maj WAS getting paid, then none of this would have happened. Be real. If you’re suffering and you can get money by making people come to your website, wouldn’t instigating beef be a great way to get people to your site? I never went to Sonic Hurricane before this, and Im sure others havent either.

Did EH host links on their site without permission? Yes. Is it wrong? Yes. But did anyone tell them in any way other than bitching about their own problems and tacking EH’s name onto it? No. This could have been handled in a much better way, and can still be handled as such. Stop this childish foolishness and just get the problem solved

^ I don’t know what internet you use but on the Internet I use most people stick to childish foolishness and never grow up (keep in mind I agree with you 100%)

About the centralizing of information, I don’t think people are hating on EH for doing it (it is helpful) but it’s just most people belive it’s copy-pasta’d from other sites who did the grunt work, making it seem like EH just wants minimal effort in order to build ad revenue.

This could have been resolved behind the scenes but doin it this way got people to visit SH right? Perhaps that was the goal all along. Either way, it’s out in the open, it created controversy and strong feeligs on each side and I guarentee that each site (SRK, EH and SH) got more visits from first timers and such. So didn’t everyone win? Lol
