MadCatZ PS3 TE FightStick: PC - Xp- vista- win7 32-64bit (read 1st post)

You can rest easy guys my PS3 TE worked on Linux out of the box.

Thinkpad T61p, Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2 from the experimental repository.

Had to switch the stick to left analog so I could navigate the SDLMame menus until I got the D-pad buttons mapped.

motherboard= MSI K9A2 Platinum
processor= AMD Phenom X4 Model HD995ZFAGHBOX

ps3 SE fightstick was detected like other people but didnā€™t work

SR2150NX = ECS RC415ST-HM / Alhena5-GL6
Southbridge: ATI SB600 (doesnā€™t work)

SR1103WM = MSI MS-6577M-ATX / Giovani2-GL6
Southbridge: Intel ICH4 (works)

MSI K9A2 Platinum
Southbridge: ATI SB600 (doesnā€™t work)

Thinkpad T61p
Southbridge: Intel 82801HBM (ICH8-M) (works)

So itā€™s not limited to nForce chipsets then, but still interesting those two share the same southbridgeā€¦ (Southbridge is the bit that handles the majority of devices.)

Have you two tried different chipset drivers, all your USB ports etc?

Updated list of non working motherboards:

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe (nForce 570)
ASUS P5N-D (nForce 750i)
3x ASUS P5N-E SLI (nForce 650i)
MSI K9N Diamond (nForce 590)
ECS RC415ST-HM (ATI SB600)
MSI K9A2 Platinum (ATI SB600)

Does anyone have one of these motherboards/chipsets that DOES work?

PlayStation 3 Tournament Edition.
Windows Vista SP1 x86.
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
ASUS M2N4-SLI.

Result: Detected but doesnā€™t work.
:annoy:

Any future solution?

Another nForceā€¦

Thereā€™s data being sent, so I imagine this is easily fixable with a simple driver. As incompetent as Mad Catz are daily proving themselves to be, it shouldnā€™t be beyond them. Saitekā€™s drivers are usually good stuff anyway. If not, then nvidia and AMD may have to be petitioned for a fix.

Which reminds me, could the 2 people with the ATI chipsets possibly try the stick in Linux?

ok guys,

listen its to do with the chipset marksman please pay attention and forward this to the people who are looking into the issue.

i bought 2 pci cards because my nvidia chipset on my motherboard, was not registering button presses, or joystick movement, however it sees the stick.

pci card 1, belkin 4 5 port pci, nec chip on the board (presumming its a nec chipset), same as before sees the stick does not register.

Pci card 2, cheap brand (maxvalue), via chip on the board (presumming its a via chipset), sees the stick and yes the buttons work ok.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41yR9j5gMXL.SS500.jpg

so i have got it working at last and yes the problem lays within what chipset you are trying to plug the stick into, nvidia is not working from what users have posted before, i can say that the belkin nec chip PCI usb card is also not working, and possibly ati chipsets also.

this is the pci card that is working for me

and it is cheap

unlucky for me i boght a more exspensive brand and it didnt work

please also note, that the stick while working does not like a USB hub i have and needs to be plugged into the socket directly,as it dont register inputs through the hub i have.

Good luck guys

Huge screencap is hugeā€¦

Iā€™m actually surprised that one of the cards didnā€™t help. It looks far better quality than the other one too.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS THREAD MARKMAN - Read the last few posts, weā€™ve narrowed it down for you.

I might go buy those usb pci cards.

Man I donā€™t wanna have to buy a PCI card. What we need are some drivers specifically for these sticks.

serious man, its a bummer i hope drivers come out. im already pretty broke now and i dont want to spend more money just to get this stick to work on my pc.

Well itā€™s likely a driver is possible, and PC compatibility was a touted if not advertised feature so they damned well better release one.

guys my sticks are great , best sticks i have ever owned and will last me a lifetime, if you cannot wait the pci card that worked for me was cheap and delievered in 2 days, but if your patient then stick it out.

i couldnt wait and i am enjoying my sticks as we speak with mame and a long list of old arcade favā€™s.

markman, do you know around what time theyā€™re gonna have a fix for the amd machines? i think thatā€™s exactly whatā€™s happening to mine. i have an amd turion 64, and a ps3 standard edition stick. itā€™s a bummer, cuz i havenā€™t been able to play anything yet.

ya so far my stick is just collecting dust. we need drivers!!

What motherboard do your have Aran?

Hopefully thereā€™ll be drivers out soon.

Ummmā€¦ I actually have no idea what motherboard it is. I have an HP Pavilion dv5000, but Iā€™ve never actually checked who the motherboard manufacturer is.

Kudos to housedick. I decided to buy a USB card, but only that it have VIA. I found it and bought at best buy (Dynex USB PCI Card). To my surprise, it work just 100%. Not only it work with fightstick, my xbox wireless receiver work very well! I am not sure if its isolated to madcatz, because before this, my xbox wireless reciever doesnt work too well and I keep getting the full ring flashing on my xbox controller. With this PCI card, it was able to assign a controller and seemed to be more stable.

Thanks to Markman for ā€œmentionā€ their finding. I think we are getting close to finding solution for this now.

If you dont want to wait for solution, find USB PCI Card with VIA Chip. It seemed to work for me and housedick.

I hope they release a driver soonā€¦

I donā€™t want to spend money. It could be solved by Mad Catz.

yea people if you cannot wait get a usb pci card with a VIA chipset.

i myself decided to be the guniee pig and try to get a fix as soon as possible my 2nd card i purchased, the seller said i cannot return it so i told him a few things he didnt like.

other then that i am so happy i got 2 teā€™s working on my pc , emulators being played as if i were a child once again.

Remember its a VIA chipset that works.

all the best guys
