dear brothers, i might found the solution for this. just go and download http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows and your te stick will work on windows 7 64 bit if u have habe a 3.0 via chip usb. it worked on my PS3 te stick firstgen. yes PS3 stick whit 360 driver from microsoft xD. just try it out and let me know. greetings from turkey
Hi friends,
Purchased the PS3 version not knowing the problems that it had with PC and now I am battling with it. I have a MSI Z87-G45 which I thought it would work on just fine however it only reads as Game Controller 8838 and no button inputs work.
After researching about the VIA chipset and it working with that I ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007X26S8Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Installed the VIA drivers and set it up however my stick still reads as Game Controller 8838.
If I go into the driver and find one myself that is on my computer I donāt have the option to pick the xbox360 controller and it doesnt registered on motionjoy either.
Any input would be great.
Thanks!
I feel the better solution would be to replace the PCB inside the PS3 Mad Catz TE with a more compatible PCB.
The ID Game Controller 8838 will not change, what supposed to change is if the controller works or not.
But it isnāt a Xbox 360 controller, it be a Generic PnP HID game controller or something to that effect
Did you connect itās internal power connector? It says its optional, but from the comments it looks like it does not work without it. But that does not matter.
Also USB 3.0 is not backwards compatible with USB 1.1 UHCI devices. You got the wrong card.
Getting a VIA was never the solution, VIA is just a brand, if you already read the guide you know that you needed a UHCI complaint USB card, and VIA made those (or at least used to).
Do you happen to have a recommendation for the PCB that I should buy for the stick?
Thanks
Zero Delay or Cthulhu for PC/PS3
Any reason this one shouldnt work?
Iām tempted.
Checking the manufacturerās website http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/USB-2/Card/5-Port-USB-20-PCI-Card~PCI420USB
There is no mention of supporting UHCI which if you read the guide on page one is the protocols you need to run the Mad Catz PS3 TE Round 1 and Round 2 .
You need to find a UHCI compliant USB PCI card or Replace the PCB inside the PS3 TE.
Perhaps these would work better?
Iām a bit concerned about replacing the PCB in the SE and TE I have, Iād prefer not to have to open them up if possible.
Best solution would be a PCB replacement, did it myself and it works even better with multi console support as well. Adding a USB card will cost you the same or even cheaper for a new solderless PCB.
Do you have a recommended (easy to fit!) PCB?
I have a PS3 SE and TE from madcatz.
Iām in the UK.
Zero Delay PCB PC/PS3 is cheap on ebay and a lot of people use it, I have no experience with it but a more expensive yet still pretty cheap PCB that I have and been working great for many years is the Cthulhu for PC/PS3.
Is that this sort of thing?
Iām a bit clueless here
I cant see the Cthulhu one - is it easy(ish) to install?
Even better would be a UK modder I could post my sticks to!
Where are you based?
But really, the ZD Encoder is ridiculously easy to install. It comes with all the wires needed⦠the only thing you may have trouble with is the Home button (which only comes with the PS2 ZD Encoder anyway).
Got my Madcatz SFiV SE working in my PC!
I used a StarTech PCI420USB 5 Port USB 2.0 card
The manual says the chipset is VIA VT6212L
This installed with no extra drivers needed on Win7.
Fantastic! Works with MAME really well.
Although I am still very much tempted to open it up and swap the PCB!
@gahrling Iām in Devon, UK.
Would you mind linking to the product so I can give it a go?
Iām based in London and Brighton, if you still need someone to mod your sticks then give me a shout⦠though it will be much cheaper doing it yourself.
ZD Encoder (with Home button support): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-ZD-USB-Encoder-PS2-PS3-PC-to-Joystick-for-MAME-Arcade-Fight-Stick-Control-/171017583391?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d1713b1f
Thanks very much for those links. Iāll give them a go.
Try the stick on a USB 3.0 port. Iāve connected several PS3 sticks to both of my PCs using USB 3.0 and itās always worked.
I tried it on the 4 at the back of the PC, and the 2 at the front/top, no joy unfortunately
This is my mobo
@gahrling Is that offer of modding still open? I have the ZD encoder, but really dont fancy my chances with it. Obviously Iād pay shipping and your time.
Hey just throwing this out there, this worked for me:
Bought a PC a few days ago, stick wouldnāt work, Shows up as āPC USB Wired Stick 8838ā but wouldnāt recognize any buttons
motioninjoy/SCP didnāt work, was about to give up and go buy a PCI usb card but then i found this and it worked:
