MadCatZ PS3 TE FightStick: PC - Xp- vista- win7 32-64bit (read 1st post)

Hi I am running Win 7 64bit on a alienware m18x, and i have first version of the PS3 TE sick.

after i have installed MotioninJoy and plug in to my USB 3 i can see Wired stick 8838 on my device.

but when i use properties or try to re calibration none of the buttons will react or the stick, nothing will light up :frowning: and motionjoy keeps on saying they are waiting for me to plug in a control :frowning:

is this what every body is referring to when u guys are saying can’t work the stick? or you guys can’t even see the stick been detected?

anyone have a solution to my issue? (i can see the stick Wired stick 8838, but nothing will react to it)

Thanks

I just bought the madcatz sf4 se stick literally hours ago, i got the ps3 one because they ran out of the 360 one. My old stick is broken in literally weeks, it’s really cheap and crappy.
I tested the stick there i told them i dont have a ps3 and i am gonna use it for pc, we tested it in their laptop, the stick works so i am happy and bought it.
Now i am here not knowing that there is many issues with the ps3 version of the stick, i am having the same problem as everyone, it wont notice any input i put in, windows 7 said its working fine it is recognized as pc usb wired stick 8818.
Then i took out my really really old laptop and guess what it works the stick. So maybe it is because of the pci ports, i have tried all the ports in my pc. I am gonna try buying a usb extension like someone suggested here or a pci port, dual modding or changing the pcb is a little bit to much for me. I hope someone can tell me a definite solution for this problem, because at this point this stick is just a waste of money cause i dont have a ps3, i have a 360 and pc and both of them doesnt work.

Also does all via chip sets work? i realize my pc dont have any UHCI but my old laptop does
Thankyou.

Wire organization in a stick is very similar to wire and cable organization for PCs.

You can use zip ties, electrical tape, velcro tie strips,
If you really want to look Professional learn to do cable sleveling.

And with some practice you can do “super wiring”.
I never done super wiring so do not ask me how its done.

Also the final tip is take your time, envision where your wiring is going, measure twice cut once.

You might just have to replace the PCB.

I just bought a usb extension like someone suggested, but it didnt work more money wasted.
I also bought a pci card but i am afraid it also wont work because it is a nec chip not via, but i hope luck favors me today.
And also i am not that skilled at modding the stick as in i never done it before, i worry if i change the pcb i might damage the other parts, i also dont know where to get the pcb, if i buy online they wouldnt be able to ship it here.

Nvm gg the stick won. Usb extension doesnt work, pci usb card doesnt fit as in my pc is full. That means i dont have any more solutions.
I thought i can finally have a “good” fighting stick to play on but it turns out reality doesnt favor me right now.

http://godlikecontrols.com/ get the PC/PS3 Cthulhu

What other parts? The Joystick and Push buttons? The most sensitive part is the PCB.
There nothing else to fry, everything else are just switches.

You got a laptop, USB PCI cards are mostly made for desktops. The Cthulhu was design with PC compatibility in mind.

Where in the world are you located?

I might try if i can get my hands on one which is impossible because both buying retail or online is not possible. But still i dont have any knowledge of modding arcade sticks.

No i tested the stick with my old laptop and the stick works same with my old pc but both of them are really old and freezes alot, they definitely cant handle sf4

South east asia, it’s hard to buy anything online from here

Thankyou for the help anyways, i became more pessimistic in finding a solution to this…

Hi
Thanks for your help I wanted to add that I solved the problem with the PS3 stick using
startech.com/Cards-Adapters/USB-2/Card/4-Port-PCI-Express-Low-Profile-High-Speed-USB-Card~PEXUSB4DP as recommended. Bought from amazon.co.uk

This is my rig

Thanks for everyones help.

Also incidentally the stick works with Injustice and is automatically detected although Street fighter requires the buttons to be put in before play.

I’m having a tough time getting this to work with Windows 7 64-bit. Windows tried to find the drivers automatically and failed, and then when I ran setup.exe off the CD that was included with the product, I got the message “This package does not contain the driver for this OS.” I had no better luck using the drivers available on the StarTech website. In Device Manager, it’s showing the yellow exclamation point next to the device, and its device status reads “This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24).” Any ideas?

The 2.0 magic trick worked for me too. At least it did, once. Out of the 4 or 5 2.0 extension cords I plugged in a 3.0 front port, I only got it to work with an old D-Link “raindrop” WIFI adapter base. Worked beautifully. Even played a few rounds of Street Fighter X Tekken with it. Then I had the bad idea to try some other, more visually pleasing setups, which all failed. Moved it back to the front port, but it wouldn’t work anymore. It still showed up as “Pc Wired stick 8838”, but inputs were no longer registered. Tried every switch position before and after plugging it in, messed with the drivers and rolled back to a week-old system restore point. Nothing. I almost wish it never worked in the first place.

I have a PCI USB controller card with a VIA chipset that worked on my previous motherboard, but it won’t fit on my current one (GA-Z87X-D3H) with my SLI setup. Its only PCI slot is covered by the second GPU and even an extension ribbon cable (riser) won’t fit underneath without blocking the fan - unless there’s some ultra-slim model out there I’ve never seen. I guess I could move it to the 4x PCIe slot… but eh… I think I’m going to give up trying to make my PC work with the stick and just go with a Cthulhu instead. It does indeed seem like the best long-term solution. Plus, I get a kick-ass stick for my classic consoles.

To bad the Multiconsole Cthulhu is out of stock at Focus Attack and Godlike Controls. Any idea when (if) there will be a restock? Or another source, maybe?

Recently updated the PC and now my TE won’t register inputs.
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5
OS - Win 7 x64

I’ve tried using an old usb extension cable on all of the usb 3.0 ports to no avail. The stick shows up as “PC USB Wired Stick 8838” however when trying to calibrate in properties no inputs will register. In my case I have no PCI slots on this motherboard but PCI-E. Has anyone succesfully used a PS3 TE with a PCI-E USB card on 64 bit Windows 7? Is my best option at this point to replace the board with a 360 compatible one?

Hello everyone, I have the same problems with my SF4 TE round 2 on my computer , I bought a PCI -E card with VIA chipset XHCI , but it does not work despite my various tests , here is the card I bought : http://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/cartes-controleurs-i-o/carte-interne-pcie-chipset-via/f-10783-gen4710747800004.html?idOffre=33690701#mpos=1|mp

Dude I told you in the other thread that PCI card will not work and explained why.

When I refer you to this thread I meant you to read the thread not post in it.

alright I am VERY confused about this topic lol

what I wanna accomplish is to get my PS3 arcade stick work on my PC (like dozens of people tried before)

I got this one:

this Mainborad:

and Intel Ivy Bridge Chipset.

sooooo what should I do? x) buy a PCI? which one? mod my stick? wanna still use it on PS3 though…
sorry if this was asked and answered mutiple times but I cant seem to find a right answer to my Problem…

help appreciated

What I would do is rip out the current PCB in that stick and replace it with Cthuhlu PCB(Or a cheaper option the Zero Delay PC/PS3 PCB on Ebay for around $20)

Hello guys, I wanted to use my Mad Catz Street Fighter IV TE FightSticks PS3 on my HTPC linux, but the device, as for most of all, is recognized by the system but not by signs of life. How can I fix, I can’t add more pci cards, because I do not have space…I think …I should change the PCB?
In this case which one to choose?
There are guides that I can follow?
thank you all

Your best bet is replace the PCB with one that would be Linux compatible.

Could you tell me someone and possibly a guide on how to install them?
I’m afraid to break everything, I enjoyed a lot with this stick.
thank you
