MadCatZ PS3 TE FightStick: PC - Xp- vista- win7 32-64bit (read 1st post)

X58 uses ICH10 for USB, which is the same southbridge used in the P45 chipset boards. It supports EHCI and UHCI. I just tested my PS3 TE on my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R board using the Intel ICH10 USB 2.0 ports (it also has two NEC USB 3.0 ports I haven’t tried) and it was recognized and worked fine in GGPO/FBA

Hi, everyone. I read this whole thread and I’m amazed that Madcatz hasn’t come out with a solution after all this time.

I just got my new laptop which has an Intel PM55 chipset and no Universal Host Controller Interface. Is there a way to install the UHCI on my system so that my TE Stick will work?

If not, can anyone recommend a PCI Card with VIA chipset for my laptop so that I’ll be able to use the stick as mentioned in the thread.

Thanks!

You can’t put a PCI card in a laptop, and with one that new you’ll need an ExpressCard USB 2.0 card, something like this: http://www.synchrotech.com/products-expc/expresscard_34-usb_2_0_01.html

Note, I have no idea what USB chipset that device is using, and that will be much harder to find out with ExpressCard than with PCI.

Thanks for your fast reply. I wonder if this one will work:

Here are the specifications mentioned on the page I linked:

From what I can tell from the chipset id, it’s not VIA so there is no chance it will make the fight stick work, or am I mistaken?

TE 360 stick

Can I use this stick for ggpo?

you can use the stick for anything if you can get it to work. Is there any other way to get this thing to work besides the usb expansion card?

I ordered this expresscard and got it today, but unfortunately, the stick doesn’t work with it. I’ll return it, and try to see if I can find an expresscard that will work.

i got my TE to work again for the second time, first was a fluke this time i know what i did

i plugged the stick in

right clicked, properties

i see

USB Input Device
HID-compliant game controller

i double clicked HID-compliant game controller

then clicked change settings

went to driver tab, disable it, then enabled it again without unplugging the stick

and it worked…again this is the second time no usb hub nothing ill try it right now again to confirm it works

Edit: i unplugged it and nothing again, so i restarted and started to mess with it again, does it matter what settings are on the stick? LS DP?

So, I could only find a cardbus USB adapter which supports USB 1.0 (UHCI). The problem is my laptop only has an expresscard slot. So, I searched for a bit and found an expresscard to cardbus adapter, which would mean if I wanted my stick to work on my laptop I would need to buy these two adapters and use both of them to connect my stick to my laptop. Not to mention the cost of buying both is way too expensive (I might as well sell the damn thing and get a stick that works with my laptop), I’m not even 100% this would work. Fu*K you MadCatZ for even making me consider doing something like this after all the time you had to work on a simple fix to such a widespread problem. I will never buy anything from MadCatZ again, and I advise anyone who reads this not to buy anything from them either. Lesson learned…

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the default USB connections don’t work. On my motherboard I have only three PCI Express x1 slots available for use. The single x16 one is reserved for the video card. What are my options? Are there any VIA USB products for x1? If not, can somebody recommend other manufacturers supporting UHCI?

I just got a new laptop but it only has 2 EHCI USB ports and an eSATA port. Can a new PCB fix the problem or is it over for me?

Confirmed Mad Catz TE ps3 version work on my bro acer laptop.Just plug and play.

Acer 4736 laptop spec as below:
intel cpu t6600 2.2 Ghz
geforce G 105M (512M)
DDR2 800Mhz 4Gb
win 7 premium 64 bit

CPUZ show that it used intel PM45 chipset and southbridge ICH9-M .

It doesn’t play fast on SF4 but it is o.k. to play ,just a bit slow.

dual modded with a madcatz sf4 fight pad and an imp and the proprietary usb is still in effect with BOTH modes.

Says uhci, will it work?

I didn’t read through the whole thing, but I’m having the same problem for my PS3 TE S in a Windows 7 machine. Was there a solution found via driver or any other means? The PCI USB card “solution” isn’t an option for me since this machine is a nettop box and my other stick (XBOX 360 TE round 1) works perfectly on that same machine. Any ideas?

I know this is mainly for people with TE’s for PS3, but I am in the same boat as everyone else, except I have the 360 version TE (1st gen Round 1).
My PC which has Windows 7 32-bit and a Nvidia Southbridge Chipset (Asus Striker-Extreme Mainboard), will not recognize the TE, but the TE works perfect on the 360 console. (old P.O.S. PCB??)

I also have a TE ‘S’ (Black) and my PC installs the drivers for it seamlessly without question/error and the full title of the stick shows up in the driver properties and “Game Controller” program. (has updated PCB??)

So my question is did the 1st gen Xbox 360 PCB’s have their flaws in general? Specifically being incompatible for PC gaming?

EDIT: I have the 1st gen Akuma Fightpad and it installed seamlessly too, it shows as ‘Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class’ - ‘Xbox 360 Controller for Windows’

UPDATE (5/24/10): Okay, so I have a total of 10 USB ports that are active on my PC and the Nvidia Southbridge is compatible with both original TE and TE ‘S’ (it seems to be pick of which USB ports you choose to use; mine happened to be on a 2x USB bracket at rear connected to my mainboard via cable).

4x built-into the rear of mainboard. <~ (it is 2.0 and is compliant with original TE)
2x USB ports on a bracket that takes up a PCI slot and then wired/connected to the mainboard (no PCB circuitry, just USB wires). <~ (most likely 2.0 and is compliant with original TE)
2x USB ports on top of my PC case. <~ (it is 2.0 and not compliant with original TE)
1x USB built-into the media slot 5.25" front panel. <~Initial problem (it is 1.1 and not compliant with original TE)

NOTE: The TE ‘S’ is compliant with every one of my USB ports.
ALSO: My TE Dual-Mod (CHIMP) is compatible with my PC in X360/PS3 modes when connected to 2x USB ports on PCI bracket slot at rear (no PCB circuitry, just USB wires)

Here is a pic of what I see in PC:

Still no drivers? Is it that hard to make a driver that is compatible with Nvidia or Enhanced Host Controllers? I am pretty sure MC doesn’t want to give that one extra service (read: Drivers) because it will cost them 200 to 300 dollars (beta, a real gold driver will cost more).

thanks very useful thread!

Im planning to buy a new macbook pro unified alu… I however hear those new laptops are now using nvidia chipsets anyone know if the ps3 Madcatz TE sticks are compatible with it?
My current Macbook pro have the UHCI usb chipset, so im hoping the new models are the same.

So this thread is useful, then why don’t you **use **it by reading the first post and some other posts, because it clearly states that NVidia chipsets are not compatible with the TE Stick.

Anywayz, here is something useful: I posted a request at this forum, maybe those guys could help us out: http://forums.motioninjoy.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=594
