Hi all, love ressurecting old thread, so my computer actually recognizes the stick, buttons light up and everything, but then when i try to use it to actually input anything (xpadder, joy2key etc) i get nothing at all… any helpful hints? Intel CPU, no nvidia chipset on mobo, Windows 7 ultimate edition
I am looking for some clarification. My friend had a spare via pci card and I installed it. It does seem to be a step in the right direction but it is not working at 100% yet.
The first issue is VIA rev 4 USB Universal Host Controller. Too old?
While it does register the buttons -for the most part- there are two problems I am getting. Turbo goes crazy, and it is linked to both regular buttons and the joystick movements themselves. When I move the joystick it is receiving the input as Hat PoV, but not in a stable fashion. I can push left and xpadder trying to get it under control, and configured and sometimes I have to hit it a few times, if it registers it at all. Finally when I go to test this, the main buttons on the board work well, and in real time, the arcade stick on the other hand is a complete different matter.
Suggestions?
I’m ultra picky and am looking for a PCMCIA or ExpressCard usb controller that has flush mounted USB ports…not the kind that stick out…any recommendations? (has to be confirmed VIA chipset obviously or compatible with TE). Please help!
I was able to get the stick working perfectly. What I did was install the xbox stick drivers, it then was able to handle my inputs much better and with no turbo errors or anything. So even with the pci card you may need to use the xbox drivers for it to work correctly. (if using a ps3 version and pci usb via 1.1 card)
hi guys,
I have the same problem as you but I can’t use the solutions you gave.
I used to play with my ps3 TE stick on my HP laptop and it worked fine , but I’ve bought a new laptop ( http://www.fnac.com/Asus-G73JH-TZ011V-17-3-LED/a2798718/w-4?PID=48966&Fr=0&To=0&Mu=-13&Nu=3&from=1&Mn=-1&Ra=-5000) and my stick doesn t work anymore.
Windows 7 seems to regognize it but the buttons and the stick don’t work.
(I have no express card on this laptop )
If someone has a solution I would be very gratefull !
Here’s some crazy stuff
I have a Macbook Pro (unibody) which has a nvidia chipset. My PS3 TE stick works perfectly on the mac… but I also have a windows partition on here with Windows 7 installed, when I boot into that… FAIL. The stick is recognized as a game controller but nothing about it works at all.
I tried configuring it and troubleshooting it and nothing happens. its epic fail all over the place.
Someone write a driver for this thing! I wanna use my TE!
So, that brings me to my next question:
What about the TvC stick? Anyone try that? you can use a wiimote with a PC cuz it’ll connect via bluetooth. I’m gonna try this when i get home and report back.
p.s. someone please write a TE driver for win-blows.
Well, talk about MADE OF WIN
TvC Stick works great on MBP with Windows 7 on a bootcamp partition. What I did was i paired the wiimote to the computer, then downloaded WiimoteConnect and GlovePIE. I made a program in GlovePIE to map the buttons/directions, hit RUN and off I was.
GlovePIE might work for those TE sticks too. The ones that are “recognized” but are “doing nothing”. I will test my TE stick once American Ido… errr, ummmm I mean Ice Road Truckers is over… yeah, thats what im watching. pfft american idol is for ****. i mean, amirite? crickets
Ok so the stick doesnt work on my pc, none of the lights come on etc. However i have one of those PS/2 to USB adapters and when I plug the stick into that the lights come on etc when I press the keys. Just the games doesnt recognize the stick. Any way i could get the game to recognize the stick using this method?
I have a Asus M4A79T Deluxe motherboard.
So I was wondering wich USB device do I need to buy, which works with my mother board? (AMD PC)
For Macbook users
I’m using an Aluminium Macbook (Early 2009 model, before they were branded as Pros). As others have mentioned, the Macbook uses the nVidia chipset and so when booting Windows the stick shows up but the inputs don’t register.
However, I’ve installed CrossOver Games on Mac OS X (for those who don’t know, it’s a derivative of Linux WINE, it’s a virtualization program that allows you to install and play PC games on the mac but does not ‘emulate’). to run GGPO. It runs almost flawlessly (get some lag here and there) and also registers the inputs on my PS3 TE perfectly :S
I speak with zero technical knowledge, but if we could somehow ‘trick’ windows into running the whole shebang through an Intel USB driver (or at least something along the lines of what CrossOver/WINE is doing) either by emulation or something else then perhaps we could be on to something?
I accidently closed my wizard on my TE is there anyway of getting it to come back up my TE now isn’t registering on my PC
I have Intel G43/G45 chipset
Will i be able to use a ps3 TE stick?
My usb ports are variants of this one
Port installed : Intel® ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A39
Port installed : Intel® ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3A3C
Port installed : Intel® ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A34
Google Joy2Key. It’s an application that converts button pushes from controllers into keyboard imputs.
so my TE stick decided to crap out on me today
it won’t read any inputs from the stick, the buttons work fine though
i don’t get it, i was just using it two days ago
anyone else have this problem?
Thats the thing when i use the ps2 to usb adapter it doesnt show up as a controller. the lights just come on with i press buttons. I will attempt to try this ut if anyone else has done this and gotten it to work i would appreciate some info as well as other alternatives to the usb expansion card.
Have you opened up and checked to make sure the stick did not drop the board connection? Another issue is how you have the stick inputs being processed (dpad,rs ls) if you have it set to one of them I know for a fact it will not register the movements. If these all check out, my next guess is the jlf itself.
yea i opened it and everything seemed to be in place, but the compter does not recognize any directional input from the joystick, i went into my control panel and and opened up the settings on the SF4 TE stick, re calibrated it and nothing, the buttons work just fine
it’s so strange because just two days ago i was using it and it worked perfect it’s literally been sitting in the same spot i left in and when i went to play the joystick decided to stop working :wtf:
ON THE MACBOOK PRO (unibody)
since it works on os x and not windows (same nvidia chipset), its gotta be solvable with a driver. The two partitions are using the same hardware, the only variable is that os x seems to have a way better usb driver than windows does by default. (color me surprised)
On MBP’s at least (and probably all other nforce pc’s), its gotta be simply a matter of tweaking/writing a driver on the win-blows side of things.
I think I have discovered what is happening here on MacBooks. Firstly, I want to thank you all for the vast knowledge in this thread. I know nothing about windows and this thread taught me a lot about shit that us pretentious mac users dont usually give a shit about
Ok, so… my theory of it all is: the MBP uses EHCI as its USB host controller. EHCI is strictly a high speed USB protocol, when a low speed USB device is plugged into an EHCI usb port, it defaults down to a virtual OHCI usb device. So basically, each EHCI controller has a companion OHCI controller that it uses for usb 1.1. The Fightstick is USB 2.0, and the Mac recognizes it as such which is why it works on OS X via EHCI. Whats happening on windows is that its being recognized as a USB 1.1 device and is passed down the food chain to the virtual OHCI controller. Windows doesnt know that UHCI = High Speed USB; so, use EHCI controller.
Here’s an excerpt from a mailing list entry that pretty much explained it all:
Hey guys, I need your help,
I followed everyone’s advice and bought a VIA chipset USB 5 port PCI card for my PS3 TE stick. Installed it on my motherboard and booted up my computer. When I plugged the stick in, the USB port doesn’t recognize the device anymore. Looked for any sign of updated drivers with no luck at all. Any help would be much appreciated. I really wanna play SF4 with my TE stick!!!
My System:
Intel i7 860 CPU
MSI GD-65 P55 motherboard
1 TB HDD
ATI Radeon 4870X2
4GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64-bit OS
my specs are same as this guy, will it work?
