Ive ordered a PS3 version of the SE fighting stick…but after reading this thread Im getting worried it wont work on my PC (Im only buying it to play MAME and SF IV on PC)
here are a couple of screenies can anyone tell me if this thing will work when it arrives?
No no news on the expresscard hub yet? i’ve been Looking at expresscard slots for a few months now… They’re all either NEC chips or They don’t know what chipset it uses…
I know VIA ones work for sure… I’m a little confused about NEC chips. Are they Not working for sure, or do certain serial numbers work and certain ones don’t?
Because for the most part People say NEC chips don’t work… but about once every 5 pages or so in the thread you get a post like this one:
So, really, what’s the deal? Because again, All the chipsets for expresscards are either unknown, or NEC chipsets…
Everything is hit or miss with the TE and fightsticks because everyone has a different system with different combinations of hardware. I don’t think there will be no right answer that will work for everyone since PCs in general are made up of thousands of different configs. Unless a driver is released by madcatz this issue will never get resolved.
Hello all,
I havent read every page, and I have the same problem that a great majority of us are seekign a solution for. That being said, I’m not sure if someone has posted this but I figured I’d post it just in case. When I couldnt get my TE stick to work on my XP SP3 machine (same issue as all of you, stick recognized in CP but not responsive), my first thought was to visit MadCatz website to find a driver. After failing to find said driver, I clicked the support tab and sure enough, the second question in the FAQ section is “My PS3 Arcade FightStick (TE and Standard) or PS3 FightPad is not working on my computer.” The corresponding page explains that the TE stick “should” work on a PC without an NVIDIA chipset. I have read that some people have had some luck with their XP machines, so maybe you guys can let us know if you have an NVIDIA card or an ATI…or an integrated card. Once again, I havent read all the pages so I dont know if this information has been brought to light yet, and apologize if it has.
To summarize the 28 pages this is what it looks like:
INTEL + INTEL = YES
INTEL + ATI = YES
INTEL + VIA = YES
INTEL + NVIDIA = NO
AMD + NVIDIA = NO
AMD + ATI = NO
The only known work around is installing a USB card with VIA chipset, unless you want to include dual PCB mod as a workaround.
USB hubs and ExpressCard adapters will not work.
Works great with Kawaks for me. And I have an intel chip, Q6600, with an Nvidia 8800GT, works fine, but I’m using some no-name multi-card reader with a usb port.
I think the problem for me is my xbox 360 TE stick registers as POV hat and kawaks doesn’t recognise them (so ive read). So i guess i should have bought the ps3 stick.
Does the joystick register on the x/y axis ?
Also only the d-pad setting of the stick registers on my PC is that the same for your ps3 stick ?
… And why doesn’t expresscard adapters work? Assuming a laptop has an expresscard slot, and no usb slots, the laptop would need a host controller, thus, the expresscard adapter needs a chipset (unlike hubs). No one has found one yet (or at least posted yet) but theoretically, shouldn’t a VIA chipset work as well? since they’re liscensed to use UHCI.
Windows still unable to install the 8838 stick drivers even though it says it does… the device manager reads “(Error code 28) This opereration requires an Interactive Windows Station”
