What makes you think I have a PS3? And I have tons of Controllers for PC. I just don’t play fighting games with them… Damn it. stupid madcats…
Woah, sorry. No need for hostility.
Mad Catz should buy and send us Cthulhu!
Total computer newb here. What should I be looking for in the device manager which should set off the alarms that a PS3 TE stick won’t work? I’m running Vista x64, by the way.
Thanks so much!
Look at your USB tree- look for intel or via. If you see a usb entry that says openHCD, or OHCI, you wont be able to run it without the card.
nvm i just got the pci and my stick is working
Wasn’t meant to be hostile =/ Guess it didn’t come out right…
Sorry.
But yeah. I might buy a Cthulhu soon… But i’m kinda weary since i’ve never Modded a stick before. and have no idea how to solder.
Thank god I have a laptop with shitty integrated graphics (that I never use), I was raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaging.
ugh, should’ve read this thread sooner.
my TE came in today and not working to no avail. btw, im NOT running an nvidia chipset, but an AMD 700 series chipset. so to all you AMD heads, add your chipset to the madcatz shit list. seems like VIA/intel is the only way to go with this fucking stick.

Hm. From what I understand, For some reason for the PS3 the TE stick uses OHCI but UHCI for the PC… Is this true? and how can the stick know weather it’s plugged into the PS3 or PC?
Then, rather than the solution be trying to map the signals to create new drivers, Has anyone thought of just tricking the Stick into being plugged into a PS3 instead?
fry’s $7 VIA pci USB hub once again confirmed. sweet.
Just got done setting up my brother’s SFIV for PC. Plugged in the stick, it is recognized but it won’t process any of the joystick or button inputs.
This was on a ASUS A8N32-SLI Athlon board too.
Hey man, I have been wanting to move to Win 7 - any issues with the card & joystick?
That motherboard is AMD. The fight stick has issues with AMD and NVIDIA motherboards. Get a PCI USB Card to get it working. I suggest this one…It’s only $9.99:

PCI Express (x1) USB Cards
I have a madcatz TE fightstick which is not working with my EVGA 780i sli motherboard. I know the known fix is to buy a pci usb card with a via chipset.
I have no problem with buying a separate usb card, but the only problem I have is that my motherboard is loaded with cards already. I have 3 Pci express slots all filled with graphics cards, the 2 standard pci slots are filled with a wirelss pci card and a soundblaster card, so the only slot I have left if the PCI express x1 card. The very small PCI slot. And I am not willing to remove any of the pci cards as I like the performance I get form my sound card and I require wireless connections.
However. they do make USB cards for these slots as well, which look like this:

I am just not sure which one will work. There are several on Newegg, but they don’t list the chipset. Does anyone know FOR SURE which one of these have the appropriate chipset:

or any PCI Express x1 that will definitely work? Any assistance is appreciated.
The top link has a blank controller chip. The second two links are NEC chipsets, so those are definite no go’s… The bottom link is blank as well.
If they were via, I seriously doubt they would be blank. So, I would wager the top and bottom link wont work, the middle two definitely wont work.
Thanks
xodustrance,
Thanks for the quick reply. Well, here is a complete list of what newegg has to offer of pci express x1 to usb cards:

Newegg typically has the widest range of selection so if one of these don’t have a via chipset, I guess I’m out of luck. But thanks for the assistance though.
Every single one of those is a confirmed NEC chipset, except -

But I am going to wager that is a NEC chipset. In fact, it would seem every PCIE x1 USB card I could find on the first 2 pages of google used NEC chipsets.
Every single riser card on Ebay (within reason, I only check a couple pages) has a NEC chipset. Every Via chipset returned on ebay was a full pci slot.
I don’t think a Via PCIE riser card exists my friend, I am sorry.
Yeah, this is an epic screw-up on part of Mad Catz. I don’t see how you can explain this. 150 bones and you can’t even use this with the PC version.
Wait so if I have an Intel based motherboard, the PS3 TE stick will be plug and play?
Just got my PS3 TE edition yesterday, plugged it in and play. Asus P5B-Deluxe motherboard AKA Intel chipset…
