I noticed that this problem is now on the MadCatz FAQ and the say they are working on it.
Q: “My PS3 Arcade FightStick (TE and Standard) or PS3 FightPad is not working on my computer.”
A: “There is currently an issue with the PS3 FightSticks (TE and Standard) and PS3 FightPads not working on some computers. We are currently looking into it and when we are able to provide a solution, we will update this FAQ.”
Don’t worry too much, I’m 99.9% certain the CPU doesn’t matter, and my stick works on 3 of my AMDs but not on my Intel so it’s definitely not a rule. What motherboards do you have?
Nice! I was begining to worry they’d take the “it’s a PS3 stick, not our problem” approach.
Anyway, are you good at looking for drivers normally? If not then tell me the model number or whatever and I’ll try to help. If you are, then unlucky mate  Just get it exchanged as it’s pretty much defective if the box is a lie.
I have to joint the boat here with you guys. When I saw the sticks on Amazon I knew I wanted one, even though I had been planning to build my own custom one for a while. After the price shot up post-pre-order I decided not to. I wasn’t about to pay a $150 premium over what the things were worth just b/c of availability. After a couple of weeks though, I went by my local Gamestop and inquired about any available SE fightsticks that might be in other stores. The manager found one for me about 100 miles away. It was a PS3 SE stick and since it was USB I told him to order it for me. I picked it up a week later and was super happy to get it home and connected to my PC so I could start using a stick. Sadly I was VERY dismayed when I plugged it in and absolutely NOTHING happened…
I searched around for drivers and saw this thread and read through it… I was pretty bummed out knowing that I seemed to match every problem that all of you were describing:
I tried plugging my stick into the main USB slots as suggested… nothing.
I searched for new drivers for my USB controller… nothing.
Finally I broke down yesterday and bought a Dynex PCI to USB 2-port card yesterday that was an open item from Best Buy. It has the VIA chipset as opposed to the other.
Installed it and then loaded the drivers from the CD that came with it… plugged in my stick… BOOM.** It worked.** So needless to say, I am very happy now, but I wish it wasn’t the chipset, and moreso a driver that MadCatz could release.
I was, however, expecting the turbo buttons or the rings around the Turbo and Home keys to light up… are they not supposed to unless they’re plugged into a PS3?
Hopefully some of you have had more luck, kinda sucks to buy a product, get all excited, and then find it doesn’t work as claimed.
I’ve never known the ring around the Turbo or Home buttons to light up. Maybe on the 360, because that’s the indicator for controller assignment. But, I’ve never seen those buttons light up on my TE. I’m half tempted to go buy one of those pci to usb cards. Has anyone that bought one and used it experienced any input lag?
Computer 1: HP Pavilion a1210n with stock hardware.
CPU: A Athlon64 3500+ (single core)
OS: XP Pro SP3
Computer 2: Acer Extensa 4420
CPU: AMD Mobile Athlon X2 TK-19
OS: XP Pro SP3
Results: stick is recognized on both computers as “PC Wired Stick 8838”, but none of the inputs work (stick and buttons). I haven’t tested on the PS3 yet.
Sup guys, I have an ASUS P5NSLI mobo with nvidia running. I plugged my regular edition sf4 stick and it recognized it but none of the buttons triggered–same scenario as everyone else. I followed the advice of horsedick (page 7 of thread) and purchased the one pictured above (VIA chip) Mines cost 15 bucks which I thought wasnt that bad of a price–I needed more USB so it was all good. Anywayz the fightstick now is recognized and all buttons trigger.
so there ya have it guys, just wanted to bring this result to the table. I think if you guys try it you might have a good result like I have–might as well try right?
Pretty messed up Madcatz didnt exactly deliver with this pc deal, but eh–the stick is fun and great…cant complain about that.
os: xp home 32bit sp2
mobo: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
cpu: intel 6600 @ 2x2.4
so this problem is not reduced to amd and nforce4 (which i was under the impression after reading the thread). it would be great to know if markman or other madcatz related people still check this thread.
probably not…i hope so though. There are many people out there with the same problem. Again, you should consider (if permited by your mobo) to get a pci usb card like the one I got–that did the trick for me.
