Joan in that blouse during that financial assessment was Woah! Man the torpedoes!
I dunno, Joan had a right to be angry, but at Don exclusively? He’s got to get some credit for never wanting her to do it in the first place.
Also makes me wonder, if Don didn’t blow up the Jag account, surely they’d be in an American Airlines situation again right? With all Joan invested into Jag, they’d have a hard time giving up the account for the chance to pitch to Chevy. Either way good riddance to that pudgy fuck.
YESSSS POWER STRUGGLES
This episode of madmen should be titled “Who da boss?”
Glad that Don finally gets dumped by his mistress. I like how she flipped what he said around. Too bad I can’t remember what either of them said. Why did Roger fire ol’ boy the first time? And on that note how do mergers traditionally work? I thought the point of this merger was to have more man power (though I get that this show has a limit on it’s number of characters) not to have less. So is this done just for the sake of the show or?
Also I really hope that Ted stays Ted. Ted is something that the show has been missing for awhile.
Joan is starting to look like a bus, is hendricks pregnant or something?
in mergers you get rid of redundant positions. they did the same thing when the british firm bought sterling cooper back in season 3(?). regardless, good episode. definitely didn’t see don’s mistress telling him to go home and be a family man coming at all.
i like how they tied in RFK at the end.
Roger Sterling is a fucking boss.
Though I have to admit that when an actor directs an episode, my radar immediately goes on for that actor giving him/herself the really boss scenes.
yeah Roger firing baldy again just made me giddy. I’m going to rewatch that scene today when I get home. Sure Roger is less handsome and sometimes prone to whining, but I think his penchant for playfulness makes him way more charismatic than Don. Sure its mean spirited, but Don would never make a firing that delightful to watch.
Is anyone starting to feel pity for Pete? I’m almost at the point, but not yet :clapdos:
edit: Don and Sylvia this episode felt like a total on the nose prostitution fantasy
I actually thought of the movie “Secretary” when seeing the Don and Sylvia scenes.
I still don’t feel pity for Pete when he throws tantrums at every turn.
The seventh episode of a season is usually a more experimental or risk taking episode. I don’t know if I felt that with this episode, but regardless, it was an excellent episode. Not quite the sheer “Fuck yeah!” power of last ep, but a very good look at two completely different creative processes and the struggle to hold on to something while change is happening.
Don was being a don this ep till the end lol. I freaking hate Campbell, doesn’t matter what he is doing, as soon as he appears in a scene I’m hoping for a piano or something to drop on him.
Did Jon Stewart spoil this season for me
Spoiler
When he interview Christina Hendricks he asked if her character dies she answered yes
Please…
Awww, from being Don “Juan” to just lil Danny Boy Draper. It’s funny because women are literally as emotionally fickle as Lindsey Weir displayed.
I liked this episode as much as the last one.
Burt got HURT! What gets to me is how pete is just as much of a douche but he doesn’t get ousted. He doesn’t even have his nepotist accounts to keep them reeled in anymore.
Man Pete Jr. aka “weasel with charm” knows how to survive. I gotta give it to him. Even though Joan got a faint waft of his sneakiness she still couldn’t help but give him a chance. lol
Peggy’s Boss flying with the “Deal With It!” aviators on while 1UP-ing Don was too good!
It would be very daring if Megan found out Don was cheating on her because she contracted a venereal disease even though she’s been faithful.
How has no one talked about the insanity that was last nights episode?! I was wrong previous when i said which episode they traditionally take chances with, it’s obviously this one. OMG, what a brilliant fucking episode.
so far it was the most legit episode this season

I feel like I should watch it another ten times just to absorb everything that happened.
So was it a placebo, I only caught a glimpse of the Doctor’s syringes, it didn’t look like he actually injected anything.
lol I thought Tom and Jerry lady was going to kill the kids. Such an odd episode lol
i was a bit inebriated myself watching this so I’m trying to piece it together…
- what happened to Roger? Bad reaction to the ‘stimulant’ ?
- that shit was just amphetamines right?
- Is Betty being a blonde again part of Don’s warped perception or just sloppy production?
- Was Don’s big solution him just trying to find a way to get Sylvia back to him?
crazy episode!
Yes, it was clearly speed when the doctor said “a mild stimulant”. I think Betty went back to blonde for Henry’s run.
Bro no those were very real. I love how it didn’t amount to jack shit in the end. Expect Don saying his bomb shell of a statement about how getting a car company turns the place into a whore house.
- I love Ted so much now. He’s one of the few still trying to keep his soul.
- That black lady was scary as fuck and poor Sally tried her best to do something. I give the little munchkin props although her attitude, and all of the kids’ attitudes seem rather 80/90ish.
- At this late in the series seeing Don’s past now makes me feel rather indifferent to his plights. Like I really don’t care what in his past made him who he is today. I think it would have been more meaningful earlier on in the show’s life where we were still forming our perceptions about the characters. Any reveal now seems kind of pointless.
i feel you on your 3rd point, throughout the whole series i never cared about don’s past, especially the flashback sequences.
